I am guessing that the length of the fade sequence in DA:2 won't be an issue so I am not worried.

This.  I suspect that the fade sequence will resemble Awakening, if not something new entirely and it will be much shorter.  I thouight the Tower was a bit tideous, but the Fade, once I figured it out was quite easy.  With only a couple of acceptions, it's a straight line all the way through.

The Fade suffered from too much linearity. It was brilliant the first time, when everything was new. But doing the same dungeon over and over in the exact same way is not fun at all. It is essentially one long, linear dungeon, with cool unlocks and upgrades that lose their 'reward' factor after maybe one playthrough because walking around for a long long period of time does not equal 'doing something'.

Now, if the combat was more varied, made use of the fact that we were alone to create challenging fights, and made us work for our bonuses, then yes, it would have been nice. Rewarding our dungeon crawling with 'yellow' bosses is pointless. I love cranking up the difficulty all the way and then ramming a large brick wall into my enemies' faces with all my party members at the same time. I lost my versatility with my group and I couldn't even take a break in between. That's one of the reasons I disliked the Deep Roads - one big dungeon that you feel stuck in.

The puzzles were not the problem for me it was endless back tracking got no problem going from location to another on the map, but back tracking so many times in one dungeon get boring fast

I would have preferred if A to B to C to D it might made it more liner but would been shorter and maybe I wouldn't have fallen asleep

The fade has a lot of potential for a deeper narrative feel, and interesting inviroments, as an example you can delve into the subconscious and create something really unique, imagine a mage with horrible nightmares and if you befriend her or she becomes an LI she drags you into that nightmare.

It was really poorely done in DAO, but its a great concept

I didn't mind the fade, it is interesting. It's just that the layout of the fade 'maze' in DAO was crap. That design flaw alone is the reason a lot of people are put off anything even remotley connected to the fade.

The fade is an integral part of the Dragon Age lore so I'm almost certain we will encounter it.The peeps at Bioware are well aware of how dreadfully boring the fade in Origins was so they will no doubt have something far more interesting this time..if...we'll see.

As a trusty mage-player, do want Fade, demons, bloaaad magic, shapeshifing, greaam lovecraftian secrets and desire-demon banging (teh best romance in game, forever together moi desire demon <3).

However, Bioware really should check game called "The Void" ("Tension", or "Turgor" on russian) to understand how a "dreamy" world could be traveled, manipulated and, most importantly, designed and what it may look like.

Make it surreal and weird, draw on the works of Dali, Gaudi, Escher and make demons a true threat when you come to play in their cradle.

Ooh and like the cradle level in thief 3 make it subliminally terrifying, a place where a simple random thought or deed can manifest in a form of power and utter horror which can only be banished through dreadful bargaining or soul destroying sacrifice.

Oh and let us reach the fade by sniffing powdered lyrium off avelines pale toned stomach.

All up for entering the fade by sniffing stuff but you know Avavline's an ex-man right?

I loathed the fade sequences. I just got so headachey and dizzy. Don't know if that's only because I'm on console, but...

What about getting to visit the "Black City"? That would be interesting. Of course, you take the risk of going insane and becoming a darkspawn.

No, I'd prefer not to get chucked into the Fade, thanks. Doesn't my Hawke spend enough time there already, being a mage?

Hm. On second though, sure. Why not? If I'm already in the neighborhood anyway . . .

I actually liked the fade... Of course there's room for improvement and it was a bit too easy, but I thought that it was nice for once being on your own in the game. I can understand why people would hate it, but suprisingly I enjoyed it. Shapeshifting was fun.

So yes, yes, YES! I want to go into the fade again!

I liked the Fade in Origins, because you got to solo for a little while.

Couldn't you just not add people to your party throughout the whole game? Not just the Fade..maybe not at the end there.

I could, but the quest wasn't that long when compared to trying to solo something like the Nature of the Beast quest.

How will Varric tell the story, since he isn't supposed to be able to enter it ?

Now that I asked this, I also want to ask a similar question.

Can dwarfs enter the fade while traped, but can't enter it while dreaming ? Or was the DA:O and Awakening Fade enter-able cause of gameplay elements ?

Oh. Okay... not that there's anything wrong with liking huge boring empy spaces! Especially if you have to go through them every single time that you play the game.

Did you play ME?

There was the skyway on Feros, and that long beach path on Virmire, and the trench run on Ilos.

I do those on foot.

Yes I have played ME. Hey, did you know they have very slow elevators in that game? Those are wicked awesome! I never use Citadel transit, how 'bout you?

It might have something to deal with forcing a person's soul into the fade.
