I've searched these forums, and found similar freezing issues, but I'm not sure I've found what's exactly happened to me--if it's been mentioned before, my apologies in advance:

After finally slaying the archdemon, I see the crowd cheering, and then I see the cutscene of Alistair & Anora taking the throne (I had Alistair do the ritual with Morrigan, and persuaded him to marry Anora).

Everything is great, until the narrator says, "...at what cost." The game seems to perform an autosave, a loading screen appears--and then it freezes.

Upon restarting my system/loading the game, I chose to load the "autosave," which drops me in a barren road leading to my camp. All of my characters are in the camp, and I cannot go anywhere on the map except DLC areas (which I've completed).

Obviously, I've missed a large portion of the epilogue--I've read somewhere that there are dialogue choices. What did I miss? How will it affect my character? And what about importing into Awakenings?

Pretty frustrating after such a lengthy, great game experience! (FYI, I have the "ultimate" edition).

Thanks again in advance!

Hm...the autosave itself is the last one to be found in Origins, but it does sound like the game skipped the entire party bit where you can speak to almost all your companions one last time. A few decisions are still to be made before the epilogue slides tell you some of the consequences of your actions during the game.

Have you tried loading your last proper save instead of the autosave? If you have to fight the Archdemon again just 'cheat' and put the difficulty level to the lowest possible, then see whether the end plays out properly.

Thanks for the information--for whatever reason (my own misstep, possibly), my last save file appears to be right before the last three battles (city gate) and the archdemon. Based on what you're saying, it seems like I'll have to play the whole ending again on "casual." I really hate having to do that, considering I spent countless hours (and a fair bit of cash) on an otherwise great game.

If this is the only way to get the proper cutscenes and decisions, then I suppose I have no other options, correct? (I'm wondering what type of character would be imported into Awakenings if I never saw/made these epilogue decisions...)

My other question for you: Since I played the entire game on normal, does making this switch in difficulty effect anything with regards to my character and my later import into Awakenings?

I don't think import files take into account what the difficulty setting you played at was; only decisions which carry any weight as far as I'm concerned. (On casual it should be fairly quick and you get more potions to take with you into Awakening.)

As for save points, if you want to quicker way of seeing more dialogue I'd suggest a new save before the Archdemon fight. (So if you want to see the consequences of different decisions at post-coronation in the epilogue slides you'll only have to fight the Archdemon again.)

My concern would be with the Ultimate Edition itself having read quite a few problems about it, especially the second disc (hopefully you won't have the same problem). I will suggest that if you have a hard drive to install the game onto it if you haven't already. If the disc is a touch dodgy, then perhaps playing off the hard drive will allow you to see the ending properly.

Also note, on console Shale does not appear at the end no matter what you do.

Thanks again for your comments. I guess I will go back and do the final battles AND the archdemon battle on casual to see what will happen. I really would rather not, but it seems as though it's my only recourse! lol
