I apologise if this has been asked before, though I was wondering if there was any
way to save a Shepard's custom appearance in ME1 and use it for another
Shepard in the same game? That is, without a direct save file import after
completing the game, seeing as it just launches you straight into the
beginning with all the original class presets, etc... No tweaks allowed.
Also, is there a way to change Shepard's first name in ME1? As in, from the default "Jane" to something else? I know in ME2 you can use the save editor, but I was curious if there was something similar for ME1.
Again, sorry for the mess.

Yeah, not really possible, I'm afraid.
For ME1, you have to write down the slider increments to get the same face again. (Alternately, design your characters in ME2 - my preference anyway - write down the face code, then translate the face code into the sliders for ME1.)
I don't know of a way to change first name after you first create the character.
