While this thread can be used to post peoples points of view, in pro or against it for different reasons. However just bringing this to the fourm make people aware and also relates to gaming.

Rent A center has one, why don't video graphics cards have a rent to own. Or something like that, it's a big business. Well I finally found online company I know that leases video cards, payment of 47.59 per month for 12 months can either use their upgrade program

In which you never "own" the card just "lease" it but the pro when a new video card comes out. You send the one you have and upgrade to a better for free. Or a "Buy it out Option" case you just want buy it I'm told people can after their 12 months

edited: meaning you can have a geforce580gtx retail 500 bucks

for first payment of 47.98 they ship it out and bill that charge, every month

Discuss, good, bad

And my review also on their main site as J. Deveraux

Seems a bit strange to me.

The idea of leasing the card will only really be worth it for certain situations. Only much point if you're the sort of person to upgrade yearly, and even then it's a judgment call. Chances are upgraders would then sell their old kit and recoup some of the initial outlay, but by leasing you don't get that. From your figures in your post, it isn't even cheaper over that 12 month contract; be cheaper to just buy it.

The buy out option after 12 months? I.e., pay 13 months to own the card. Again, be cheaper to buy it even at launch it would seem. As a pure mathematical calculation I cannot see the financial advantage of such a leasing scheme.

It just seems to me that a graphics card isn't really something that costs so much that you can't just buy, or has little use that you'd just want to rent for a couple of nights like a video.

Not good or bad; just seems strange.

That's a terrible deal! Not only is it more expensive than just buying the card, the whole point of buying a high-end card is to not have to replace it after 12 months!

The EVGA GeForce GTX 580 card listed on the site will cost a total of $647.88 by the end of the 12 month contract. You could buy the same card from NewEgg today for$ 499.99 plus $3.99 shipping.

Seems like you would be throwing away almost $144 to me and that is assuming you pitch the card from NewEgg into the trash at the end of 12 months. Taking into account the inevitable price drop, eventual rebate or sale, and permanency of a retail purchase you are no doubt tossing out far more money.

Is not strange at all, most of leasing companies do that, they charge a lil extra for their service i guess, the reason they do that,is because of ppl like me,i mean i cant really afford a 600 dls card, but the way my bills are,i do can afford 37dls a month, and i wont even feel it. I understand your point of view, but i think is a good deal, just my opinion.take care yall.
