Playing through ME1 (PC edition) for the first time, and I've run in to the rather frusterating issue of having no armor for tali. and I don't really feel like heading out to ilos while rocking phoenix III.

Looking around, I found this handy little trick. However, I haven't for the life of me managed to get it to work.

For that matter, I haven't been able to get the req. officers inventory to change at all, no matter how many times I visit various planets.

I travel to a random system (I've even tried landing on some uncharted worlds), leave, head to feros or noveria, save the game, and the officer's inventory never changes at all.

I was wondering if this could be a bug, or perhaps I'm simply doing it wrong.

You could try changing your system time. Not sure if it would work.

The game does specifically say that quarian armor is extremely rare, and it provides a valid justification. Even if this trick works - which I'll admit I doubt - there's no guarantee that he'll have the quarian version.

Random shop merchandise was an utterly massive mistake in ME1's inventory system. Used this trick many times and never find what I'm looking for. Just wanted some Humanoid Mercenary Heavy Mark VII or above. Had a suit in my first playthrough, and never found one ever again.

Quarian armor is the hardest damn thing to find in the game. You find tons of Turian and Krogan armor, both in the stores and in missions. But near end game I am literally visiting the Presidium after every mission to see if they have some Quarian Colossus X in stock.

By the time you reach Ilos, the only reason you are checking creates is for better Quarian or Human armor.

I had no problems finding Quarian stuff on my later playthroughs, but I had real problems finding Savant equipment.

You can force Tali to put on any armor you want:

Another option is getting to the end of the Pinnacle Station DLC, go to Shepard's new apartment, and buy Quarian armor from the delivery terminal.

This is on the PC edition, so I couldn't manage to get the armor glitch to work

I'd buy the DLC, but I've been told that it comes packaged with SecuRom, which I'd like to avoid.

I think SecuRom was removed in the last patch. I just started new game in ME1 and have Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station installed. Game doesn't ask for disc.

Bah. My last play as an Engineer, I never even saw Colossus armor, or even Predator X (except for one set for Wrex.)

Oddly enough, one merchant had the Savant X omni-tool.

Heh, I have about 3 copies of Savant X biotic amps from Serrice Council. Random is random, but some randoms are more random than others. As for quarian armor, you only need it if you're playing through with Tali - I did that on my first playthrough but she's really not that great in combat.

The trick only seems to work just after you complete a main mission world like Feros. You have to save the game sometime before you ride the elevator down to the hold. Reloading and riding down the elevator again causes a refresh. It also works with the Hanar merchant and others. You have to save outside the elevator ride there as well. If you save too close then it never refreshes. I got full team suits of Colossus armor that way. Took enough time though.

If you're on a PC, you could also just use the console to GIVE yourself the armor you're looking for. I mean, it's not as if you won't have the money to buy the darn thing by the end of the game. The average ME1 Shepard has so many credits they don't know what to do with them! :P

I have used the "Requisition officer trick" a number of times, and I think that the Requisition officer has a different inventory for each major port, but once those inventories have been set (by browsing his wares you set the inventory for the last major port visited) they will remain the same until Shepard's level increases.

As Zaxares said since you're on pc why bother with the save/reload trick, instead just use the pc console to add some armor to your inventory.

Hacking is ridiculously overpowered in ME1.  If you do not have tech powers, then Tali is one of the stronger team members in a Geth fight.  In my play style I have found her to be much more useful than Garrus.

Playthroughs were I hardly use Tali (ie if I'm going for Ally achievements) I find a crapton of quarian armor somehow. But if I want to use her, nope, its nowhere to be found.

Sidenote: I feel like a noob. 7 playthroughs and I just now learned this time around he changes his stock. I had no idea. To be fair, I rarely bought stuff and was very satisfied with what I found largely.

Oh, you can also complete the Bring Down the Sky DLC. It's free for PC users (not sure about 360 users) at about 300 MB download. Quite fun, not worth paying for, and you can choose to get quarian armor at the end of it.

As far as I remember the conversation goes like this:

Shepard: Quarian armor? That's kind of rare, isn't it?

Generic questgiver: We had a few of them working on the torches. They were amazing, but they don't need it anymore.

What bothered me, though: this guy has probably stripped the quarians for their armor, so he knows what they look like under their suits.

Important question remains, does it come packaged with SecuRom?

BdtS doesn't seem to have SecuRom, but I have digital ME1 anyway. Of course, I had to revert the patch because of a graphics glitch with 1.01...

It's unlikely, but I'd wait for a few more replies.
