Hi guys
I was wondering if anyone can help me with an issue that I am having with Mass Effect 1 for PC.
I have an Nvidia GTS 450 card with 1 GB memory and when I try to play Mass Effect I get really choppy graphics.
I tested Mass Effect in windowed mode and the same thing happens until I click away from the game by hitting the windows key and then I get full speed again on the graphics.
I have Patch 1.02 installed and am using the latest nvidia graphics drivers (260.99)
Any help would be appreciated.

Turning off Vsync and dynamic Shadows might help. Something you might also consider if you haven’t already, if you upgraded your video card it is recommended that you also upgrade your power supply, since these new video cards use a lot of power. For my system, ASUS recommended 600 watt, store techs recommended 400 watt, so I opted for a 500 watt PS. (My system only has one partitioned HD and one DVD running).
I have issues running games on Win7 because of my Anti-Virus software, not just ME1. At its best I still have some FPS stuttering once in awhile running about in-game in ME1.
ME2 runs a bit better but, it runs smoothly on high settings at 1600 x 900 without the AV program running. A couple other games were unplayable because of terrible FPS rates, yet run flawlessly after I turn off the AV.
My AV program works well, I can exit it and start it up again without any problems so I don’t mind unplugging from the Internet and turning it off and on when I need to. If you trust your AV software and everything is up-to-date, the system is scanned clean, and the version of ME you are running can be played offline, try this and see if it works.
If it does, just be sure to double check to make sure your AV software is running before you plug back into the Internet.

Thank you GhostwriterDoF :-) that worked - disabled the av and game ran fine.
