Sure I'm with you on the fact that there is no facial animation in some key scenes, but that is a chronic problem through out the mass effect series it seems. I believe it steems from the fact that it could be 5 min till you make your convo choice and Shepard with a angry face, will look extremely off putting. If everything was very snappy, it would be a larger problem but static faces are better than a retarded look for 2 min while thinking if I should chose to do a or b, IMO obviously

Therefore, a neutral expression is the best.

No no, got my question mixed up. I'm not asking for what answer you gave me, I'm asking what experience you have that captian doesn't. I'm not saying your full of bull by any means, but to mention it, you have to back it up with facts.

The closest experience I have to a life threatening experience is being attacked in real life and me defending myself properly out of pure instinct... I am not military or anything like that.. But I understand that alpha leaders squeeze their eyebrows based upon intense scenarios whether the alpha is male or female. I also understand that gazing into a friend or foes eyes is extremely important for an ALPHA leader..... It's the basic formula for leadership.. You must look into everyones eyes.. It can NEVER be overlooked..
Based upon my extensive experience with the Dragon Age toolset, going over every line of convo, each line has a unique emotion that builds up from the beginning of the sentence and ENDS on the very end of the sentence without change..
Example:
NPC: "You are inferior, how dare you challenge me..."
The start of the sentence will start with nuetral eyebrows, but then squeeze towards the end with anger.. When the sentence is complete the character's eyebrows will be in a squeezed angry position.. But unfortunately, ME2 has forgotten what it mastered in ME1....
This post is meant to remind Bioware of their roots... I respect Bioware very much and would like them to return to their roots.
When writing an essay you need someone to proof read your paper.. This proof reading was not as efficient in ME2 as it was IN ME1...

Bioware can't afford to take liberties with Shepards emotional expressions when most people make their own Shepards. A smile that works perfect on one Shepard may look horrid on another.
Therefore, a neutral expression is the best.
I'd love to agree with you on this point, but then why wasn't this the case in ME1? I thought about this very thing you mentioned.
I thought, maybe because each shepard is dynamic it's impossible to achieve a brow squeeze...
But after working extensively with the Dragon Age II toolset, I've learned that the geometry in the brow is almost universal based upon Biowares style.
The only conclusion now is they didn't have enough time, or their Quality Control failed this endeavor..
This is not fair to me, because I love this game very much. Had I been given the responsibility for ensuring proper emotional response based on dialogue I would of guaranteed 99% perfection or gladly give up my job.
ME1 achieved near perfect EYE contact.. This is very impressive and I expected the same quality in ME2.

Look at this scene. It's perfect...

(above) shepard is strong, confident, a leader...

You call me a troll after all the effort I put in with screenshots?
If you have any balls, you'll counter my arguments with proof and screenshots instead of resorting to "troll, troll, troll"..

Very good point.. I notice the ripples in the forehead, the chin area, and most important around the nose.. It's a clear indication of a smile..
Good man!

If you don't mind punt172o, please elaborate on what exactly you have been exposed to that captian may not have. It's just when say they have this so called experience, that other don't, it's normal bs. You may not be lying, but when people say these things it is just in defense of a losing argument.
Whereto, imagine me & you are in a fire fight... I am trying to give you orders... I'm going to assume you are strong... Will you:
a) look into my eyes and embrace my orderslook down like a coward
c) look down confused, lost, having no idea where you are.
d) think about the past as if you've had no combat experience
Given the nature of Shepard, A is the only logical choice, don't you agree?
If me & you were in a physical fight, I gurantee you that you will be looking into my eyes every second.. Shepard doesn't know Jacob at this point, SHE MUST consider him a potential friend but at the same time as a FOE.
On a side note.. I LOVE MASS EFFECT SO MUCH THAT I DON'T WANT TO SEE IT SUFFER SUCH UTTER BULL****.... PLEASE RESPECT MY ANGER, I HAVE NOTHING BUT LOVE FOR THIS GAME.
You still choose to ignore the fact that Sheppard just came back to life a mere 5 minutes ago, I think C. a share state of utter confusion would be the obvious choice, most of the time the eyes and facial responses need to be addressed but that one instance I believe is forgivable. At that point you should be lucky she didn't crack open his head and suck out his brains.

Have you ever slept for more than 12 hours? Have you ever seen someone who has slept for more than 12 hours?
When someone has slept over a year nad a half the vessels under the eye will go crazy... They should be puffy, black and unbelievably messed up.. You're lucky I applied a sense of hollywood over and around her eyes.
If I was working with Bioware, I would of made her look horrible, tired, almost grotesque that would of brought every player to tears after bearing witness to their traumatisedShepard.. But you would of felt more emotionally connected when she made her full recovery..

Instead of making posts calling me a troll, identify exactly what I say that is trolling? After careful analysis you'll see that I'm genuine, a loyal fan of Bioware and that you my friend just feel threatened..
Hey bro, relax.. I like ME1, I like ME2.. But this game demands perfection. Mass Effect is a work of art that deserve both our praise & criticism.. Can you handle & step up to this?

For the record I can think of, like, three instances where Shepard in ME1 actually made a facial expression beyond 0_0. Mass Effect 2 might sometimes have awkward faces (like the creepy Sheploo-Miranda smile in her quarters) but it tried a lot harder than its predecessor to emote the character. The only time I can recall Shepard smiling in ME1 was at the endgame, and I think once in the BDtS expansion.

It's insane talk, that sparks insane story lines that spark insane emotions from players who find a game completey and utterly thought provoking. If you are afraid of this, go play gears of war or fallout.
The writers for Bioware games are insane, but in a beautiful and supreme manner. You must show them respect, but the person who handles the emotion for facial geometry emotions should show the same respect.

What exactly is making you look like a troll? To put it simply, after "careful analysis" it appears you are behaving like a blithering idiot with you're ridiculous claims and half assed assertions along with you being possibly mentally unstable by claiming you love biowares game so much.punt172o wrote...
