Also Gohst Lightning, it will be released in north america in winter 2012. and if the first is anything to go by, for the Japanese to be translated for three months into the NA version, then I am crossing my fingers for Jan, or Feb 2012 since its still technically winter and they said that it would be released in Japan this year. I honestly doubt they would take a full year to get the NA version released. I niether understand the hate for FFXIII, I thought it was a great game and am eagerly awaiting XIII-2

First off, thank you for having good taste. Second, it might take a while. Remember that they redid the cutscenes for XIII to match the lips for english, and that was in game and CG cutscenes. So you never know. But I think it will prolly be January or February since XIII came out it March last year.

FFXIII was the most rigid, unyielding, and tedious Final Fantasy I've ever played; one my biggest gaming disappointments. Not to mention the fact that I can't stand "Lightning". So... Square won't be getting my money for XIII-2 and I will definitely be renting any future FFs instead of purchasing them outright. I very much doubt they care, but there it is

Did anyone get the feeling that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is basically going to be a copy-and-paste from FFVIII (like how FFXIII was heavily inspired by FFVII). Because the blonde chick Stella in the Versus trailer really reminds me of Rinoa. If it is, then I hope that Noctis won't be as annoying as Squall.

You're thinking Versus XIII with Noctis and the blonde. XIII-2 has the ppl from XIII.

13 pulled too many things out of my hands for me to care. The amount of CGI was absurd, and the story was so badly paced and written I lost interest quickly (and not because of the Falcie/Lcie people keep bringing up, I got that). The characters were dull and annoying, and their voice acting was atrocious. Combat was simple and boring, with the only challenge being padding bosses with an overabundance of HP, which raises the level of frustration and not challenge. The Pulse section was a wasted opportunity, instead of exploring and discovering the secrets of this ruined land, we were whisked along, standing there with a cocked head and a question mark in our mind. And then there is the ending, which was complete garbage, but perfectly summed up the entire game: One big letdown.

Anyway, so GL dismisses anyone who doesn't drool over this game because FF is stamped on the front as one with bad taste, but looking at my few quick notes about the subject, I feel pretty good with my taste in games.

P.S. Even Michael Bay would think that the CGI in 13 was too much.

FFXIII was the first FF that I never bothered to play. I really loathe the modern anime-inspired art style it has. It just looks so shiny and brightly colored that it just feels fake. At least the other FFs had graphics that weren't up to snuff so I really didnt notice it all that much.



That might seem like a silly reason not to play the game, but its a pet peeve of mine, and I dont think I'd be able to get passed it. Plus, from what I read on the extreme linearity, story, and characters (Bad melodrama, bad!) I really didnt feel like I was missing out.



So yea, I doubt Ill be picking up the sequel.

Um... me.  I greatly enjoyed playing FFXIII.  Much more than I liked FFXII which was very little.  If they do FFXIII-2 anything like they did FFX-2 than I won't like it AT ALL.  As a girl playing FFX-2 I was just disturbed by the whole magical girl/we-are-singers thing they decided to do with it.  Just apalled.

TBH a lot of the criticized features of XIII was possibly due to the fact that there was about 15 hours of content that had to be removed in order to get the game on the shelves, and yeah there was a lot of hype for XIII which is why it left a sour taste for quite a lot of players.

As for XIII-2 well the trailer was pretty good I guess, but so was XIII's first trailer so I'll reserve judgment 'till I've seen more of the game. Versus on the other hand does look quite impressive and hopefully lives up to it's hype and long wait.

People are saying they think the villain in the trailer is Cid Raines and as such a team mate and not an enemy. That'd be cool.

You'd have to read the epilogue of XIII to get it. It explains where she is kinda (not in detail or anything just a set up)

well you never really saw him die. It was just implied. And plus, for all we know that could be heaven/hell and he's there. Never know.

Well my guess is that Lightning found a secret Fal'cie realm of existence on Pulse thanks to the, somewhere that the original Pulse inhabitants managed to survive. And as for Cid well he did get Cieth'd so it's possible he somehow ascended into this other realm too, but tbh there's no way of confirming it's Cid at this point.

It is just speculation based on a resemblance. I bet it's prolly just the new villain/antagonist.
