Seriously though, Kasumi is arguably one of the best characters ME2 has to offer. Her loyalty mission had what seemed to be a Checkhov's Gun as well. I'm personally expecting a cameo, although I can't speak for those who never downloaded her to begin with.
Will Kasumi be in ME3?

Having said that, she's one of my favourite characters, and I'm curious to see how she develops in ME3.

There's a video on youtube that shows Kasumi looking rather plain with short hair, no hood. Didn't even really look like her I think. The video poster said it was proof Kasumi was in the game prior to release of ME2, but I think someone just swapped models or something. They were playing on the PC.
That was just some placeholder art.

That said I wouldn't mind seeing a few things changed:
1) If she's romance-able for some reason I would like to see her pull a Samara and turn you down. Shepard shouldn't be able to bag any woman he wants, even if he is James Bond in space.
2) Fix her combat AI. I love Kasumi but she dies faster than Tali and Moridin do because she's always teleporting into open fire. Also her skill set overlaps with Garrus too much.
3) Dialogue wheel and a general ME3 fix of more squad-mate interaction.
Also a great idea for a random mini-game: Where's Kasumi? Wouldn't it be great if during scenes where you're talking to other squad-mates you could catch a cloaked Kasumi listening in on your conversations? Just use a trigger like the Paragon/Renegade interrupts. Maybe it'll unlock new powers/outfits or heck even just some extra dialogue...
Shepard: I see you Kasumi...
Kasumi: Dammit Shep, one of these days I'm going to figure out how you keep spotting me...
Jacob: Ummm Kasumi how long have you been in here?
Kasumi: Long enough... *smiles and cloaks*

That´s about how I see it too. It would be great to have her back. It´s anyone´s guess before ME3 launches whether she´s just a cameo or an actual teammate though. Hoping for the latter:)Snake_Squeezins wrote...
Kasumi would be a welcome return for ME3, but honestly I'd accept any character with the sort of light, optimistic sarcasm she brings to ME2. There are plenty of people with baggage and tortured pasts in the game so it's refreshing to have a generally happy teammate who's making jokes about their longshot situation.

I agree.
Thane is a great character but it would be lame if Bioware cures him. I'm all for him returning as a squadmate in ME3 however, but if he returns in ME3 and survives the final mission, you shouldn't get an ending saying he was miraculously cured and lived another 40 years. If he doesn't die in ME3, he should die shortly after.

If I remember correctly though, In LotSb, there is a file that says Thane can be cured, but he does not accept the treatment.Aedan_Cousland wrote...

On topic: I hope Kasumi will be back, with more missions in ME3 like her loyality one.

So would love her to be in 3, but honestly we'll be damn lucky if we get anyone from 2 back, let alone the DLC ones. I worry they're going to take the extremely lazy/cheezy way out. I'd be extremely depressed if Tali & Garrus weren't on my squad. To the point of giving the game a pass entirely.

Pretty sure most, if not all of the squadmates will return for ME3. Whether or not they return as playable squadmates remains to be seen. Sadly I'd say Kasumi is on the short list of "drop-able" team members if we're forced to lose some, I just don't think that will be the case.Cutlass Jack wrote...
Kasumi was my Femshep's best friend. Was always nice to go relax and gossip with her. Was a little sad I couldn't fix up her and Jacob.

Thane is only refusing lung transplants.

It is probably a safe bet that all the possible surviving ME1 and ME2 squad mates will return in some form but not all of them as members of your ME3 squad. Bioware will probably follow the ME2 formula where your squad is a mix of new characters and a couple that were on the squad in previous games.

I really hope so... to me she's the most interesting character in both ME1 and 2... not to mention her kickass powers.
I'd love to have her on my team for ME3.
Might just be because I'm tired, but are you saying she's the most interesting of all the characters from ME2, and even ME1?
Or are you saying she was in ME1. Because she wasn't.
.....Or if she was, that's NEWS TO ME.
Edit: And yes, I'd love to see her in ME3, either as a squad mate or a cameo.

Plus the total lack of any story mention of BDtS in ME2 kinda points to more or less very little of those two characters. The meeting of her was very meh, although I enjoyed her quest.
Of course, we could see any of the characters they don't wish to bring back killed between games (If they weren't killed by us, that is).

Well, any dialogue of hers (other than the combat soundset) that you hear on any of the story missions besides her own is in the base game files. That lends support to the idea that she was supposed to be, much like how there's leftover stuff from an earlier version of "Lair" in the base game.
The other thing is: look at the upload date for that video. Was it from before Kasumi's DLC came out? I'm guessing it was, because I've seen similar videos that were.
ETA: Yeah, here's an SM one from last February.

EDIT: Oh, and that. *points down to post directly below* Someone print that, frame it, and hang it in Bioware's Edmonton office.

And that is the way it should be. If they are dead they are dead. If they live they should return. That would be what people would have to sacrifice so that their deaths meant something in the next game. You make a choice you live with it. If you miss out on dialogue or an event because a member died during the suicide mission then this would be a consequence of that. The way it should be. I was surprised the death on Vimire didn't have a bigger impact in ME2, but perhaps it will in ME3.

I find it funny because she has just the same ass as FemShep. I'm pretty positive they use the same body model.
