Is ME3 going to be based on the "definitive version" or the "complete version" of ME 2?

Now that they released ME2 for the PS3 and the comic which allows you to choose a few choices, I think the answer is pretty clear: they already tried to decrease the damage that the PS3 users are getting with the PS3 version of ME2, therefore, they will probably try to make both version of ME3 the same.

They are not going to favorite one fan base over the other when they can. And before someone starts saying that they did it when they created a superior version of ME2 for the PS3, just keep in mind that it is a different case; PS3 version of ME2 came approximately one year later, it is just logical to make a better version of it in order to help people to forget that it is an old game.

If this is true...then ME fans on 360/PC are being punished for playing the entire series wothout being able to enjoy the fruits of those labors.  If all versions of ME 3 are to be made equal, then we have to assume that the PS3 version will be the biggest determiner of how the story of ME 3 sets up....which means that we will miss out on many of the smaller choices that we were able to make in ME 1 that made it such a great expierence.

If this is true...I will be very sad.  A major reason I fell in love with the ME series, was the promise that my decisions in each game would have an affect on the story.  If I do not see that pay off...ME 3 may just become the biggest disappointment ever.

D.Sharrah.... I think you're getting a bit too worked up over nothing really. I'm quite confident (as the devs have even said so) Your plot lines from each individual game will still carry over into ME3, even the small little email ones i'm sure.

Once again I think a lot of you are getting more worked up than you should over marketing catch phrases for the PS3 Version of the game

How can this actually be a question?

THEY ARE THE SAME THING.

....fanboys....

effing "complete" version....  WTF is this talk.....

WTF is this talk?

Maybe because the 360/PC version IS the complete version. Much more content is on ME2 if you've played ME1, content that the PS3 version will NEVER get.

And op, i really do hope that Bioware don't cut out all the 360/PC cameos for the sake of equality with the PS3 version.

After all will they want to put the time and money into wrapping up story threads that a potential third of the customer base will never get to play?

Better than writing off two-thirds of your customer base.

If they make ME3 the same across all 3 platforms, they will have to cut content, which will be favoring the PS3 version and giving 360/PC players a massive middle finger.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone playing the PS3 version reach Illium yet? I'm really curious to know if Conrad, Gianna and Shiala/feros colonist were erased or not.

you canot pick any of those choices in the comic so one would think they would not be there...in fact not only will shiala not be there, you cannot even save feros in the comic so the entire medical scans quest with or without shiala will not be there...

If it does happen, fans will kick up the biggest **** storm to grace the Bioware forums.

I personally don't know what they'll do. They're very unpredictable with this stuff.

Bioware will, as usual, find a way to please everyone in the fullest way possible. I'm not worried about the content and its continuum across the three games, I'm more worried about the more drastic decisions such as the squad, and multiplayer, or lack thereof.

I'm sure you're right xlavania. I tend to get myself worked up over this because Mass Effect is my favorite video game series of all time. Bioware hasn't disappointed so far, no reason they'd start now.

You DO know that if you dont save Shiala in ME1, That playthrough wont have her in ME 2 right?

Just like if you Kill the Rachni Queen in ME1 you dont get the nice little chat on Illium.

Works both ways. So once again I'm more than positive certain ME1 choices (and ME2) will have an impact on some playthroughts and then not on others.

Is that really THAT hard to wrap ones head around? All over a 15 min Comic thats only meant to bring players not able to play ME1, up to speed quickly?

How is it any different than playing the default play through on PC or 360 where those big decisions are made for you and all side quests are considered Not used?

I think I just figured out the ultimate reason why people, myself included, have been freaking out and have no reason to worry.

It's quite simple. Bioware has not declared Mass Effect: Genesis a retcon. What does that have to do with anything, you ask? We know that Genesis is also set to be released for the 360 and PC at some point. If Bioware was dead set on making ME3 equal across all platforms, they'd declare Genesis a retcon, and all 3 platforms would then be equal in terms of story/character content. However, since Genesis is not a retcon, that means the events of ME1 actually did happen, our choices actually matter, and will appear in some way, shape, or form in ME3.

I think people are overrating to the comic. It's sole purpose was to provide six major decisions that would carry over into ME2. Yeah, the comic is bad to those of us who played ME1, and PS3ers are getting screwed IMO. Look, the comic doesn't even mention Cerberus and barely mentions the Geth, two monumental factions in ME2 and they will play an important role in ME3 to be sure. I wouldn't jump to conclusions yet. It is very possible that some of our favorite NPCs will either be reduced to emails or taken out all together. I was hoping for Shepard's backstory to come back into play somehow. We're not going anything for quite some time and as outlaw said, if we do get the shaft, it is not the fault of PS3. If anything, they are more the victims in that they did not get the superior story of ME1 ... but that's another thread.

Brilliance, genious, the first person in this thread who has taken a clear concise straightforward point and brought it forward.  Good job I applaude you Posted Image

People have been complaining about the smaller ME1 choices, and for good reason. A few were mentioned, such as Conrad, Medical Scans, emails, etc. The best way to handle this would be to make the Paragon choices of those events in ME1 as the default for ME2 PS3 players. That way, they will experience all side quests.

But I don't think there's much to worry about. I'm sure those small cameos, if important, will make their way into ME3. If not, that would suck, but it wouldn't be a game changer for me. In fact, the PS3 players have Overlord and LotSB right off the bat, which could mean that those DLC decisions will play a bigger role in ME3... I would love to see in ME3 that if I never did the LotSB mission, that Liara is not the SB and it's still that Yahg, and if I never did Overlord mission, there will be a drawback to it in ME3. I would worry more about those than the minute decisions in ME1.

****storm or not, it's the last game in the trilogy. Fans will rage(as always), then go buy the game, and Bioware knows this.

I, personsally, am not worried in the least that ME3 will great.

Here's a thought, 360/PC versions of Mass Effect 3 will carry over decisions from both prequels, and the PS3 version will carry over decisions from Genesis and ME2. Sure the 360/PC version will feature some things that the PS3 version won't, but I don't think the PS3 players will really care. Mass Effect 2 on Xbox 360 by itself (meaning no ME1 import save used) is an awesome game. The PS3 version just has a feature to flesh out some stuff that can't be played do to publishing/copyright issues.

In your worst case scenario, where ME3 is "catered to the PS3 gamers" then perhaps you should be ticked at Microsoft instead, they could sell the rights for ME1 anytime. I understand why they won't.

Im pretty sure they wont cut off content for a market that is mostly in Japan. I dont even think this sell that good in Japan. Sure Playstation always been popular in Europe but I dont think its worth angering a bunch of Xbox 360 and PC fans. Also, they could just cut it out from PS3 version. No big deal, I consider buying a Ps3 but I wont really care. Mass Effect to me is to be played on the PC.

Who to blame in all of this? Microsoft for not wanting the ME1 released on the PS3 I say. Not Bioware, Not EA.

Conrad is on ME2? :o

I highly doubt they will make Sony Playstation it favorite, which last time i looked was the least popular of all 3 consols, nintendo whii being the highest sold in units, followed by xbox, then with sony lagging in third place. It would be stupid to assume such a thing.

With bioware being quoted that there are more than 1000 variables being worked on in me3, i doubt we will miss out on our small thankyou cameos from ME1/2.

I cant go into detail here, but some of those small sidestorys come to an end in ME2 anyways.

I still think a lot of people are getting way to worked up over nothing.

Trust me, Bioware wont make the game to cater to any one platform....why would they?

Hey, so I just finished Mass Effect 2 on my PC today,,, I have the first one and played it awhile and just couldn't handle it so I skipped it ._. , anyways, I had like 4 of my squad members die on the last mission... Will that ruin my ME3 experience overall or will I be able to get more squad members?

And how is anyone supposed to know that since ME3 won't be out for months and we have almost no information about it?
