I've seen the intro comic at a friends (PS3) and on youtube, so I'm not sure if I really meet the conditions to post here.
Anyway, my five cents regarding the intro comic: Bottom line is that the "Reapers wiped out ALL life in the galaxy." It is actually said this way (or similar) several times in the comic.

People will wonder how life could still exist if the Reapers wipe it out every 50.000 years. Every school kid knows that it takes much longer for even simple life to develop. In truth the Reapers cycle only wipes out intelligent life, life that uses the Mass Relays, life that followed a path the Reapers desired for them. We get this info in Mass Effect 1 and we get it again in Mass Effect 2.

I know that Dark Horse Comics probably did most of the work creating this comic, but it is the responsibility of you, Bioware, to make sure they get things right. I doubt it leaves you with a good feeling seeing that an important fact of YOUR story is wrong.

Ive played thru the demo portion of the retail game. Comic was pretty good, I thought - did the job of getting those that havent played ME1 caught up in a pretty decent way - since it has the job of telling the story, the emotional connection isnt there, but not sure how else this could have been achieved unless it had been more dramatic....Meer did a good job with it, and sure Hale did as well....I purposly avoided the comic until now, so this was my first time seeing any of it.

The technical glitches present in the demo seem to be missing in the retail copy thus far (yes!!!!!) Saw no evidence of V-synch (screen tear) and must say the game looks SHARP.....character models looks excellent, as does the sound work - Bass seems more impressive on the PS3 than the other console

The demo version was rough, but the final copy does have some nice polish to it.

Like in the demo, I like the option to reverse the L1, L2, R1, R2 button functions - pretty snazzy

Control response was sharp - I set the camera to Medium sensitivity

Souce of some contention with the 360 crowd, I am sure: all bonus armors appear present in the PS3 version, including the previously 'Collector edition' Collector armor - I must have missed this bit of news previously, so that was a surprise. Not an issue for me, really, but interesting nonetheless

I also paid the $7.99 bundle set to get all the extras: appearance, weapons, etc. Not too bad at all

Great job so far, Bioware! Honestly seems like one of the best ports to date, ever. Having played the 360 version multiple times, the PS3 version looks amazing!

- Thanks for releasing this game on the PS3. My friends will finally be able to play one of the best franchise of this generation since they don't own a 360...nor do they care about gaming on the PC.

- Next the comic intro was meh... It did a okay job but nothing great in trying to explain the story that came before hand. I know my 1st ME1 play through took me like 30 hours and that was only doing the story. Not going off the course and doing something else in the game world but just hitting all the story bullet points. A lot of information to be absorbed and I must say the comic didn't do a great job. But I do agree that if this comic story was longer people would get bored really fast.

- When will this get updated on your website? I preorded and purchased the Collectors Edition for the PC and I noticed that when I registered the game it would open up the DLing ability to the 360. IE

"Your promotional code included an unlock for both PC and Xbox 360 platforms. To access your content on the Xbox 360, please ensure you activate Cerberus in-game using the same account you used while redeeming this code on the social website. Once you have done this, your content will be available for download from Xbox LIVE via the in-game store."

Wondering when the PS3 version will be able to link up to that so I can open up more DLC for my PS3 version.

- Don't know how to comment on the controls since I used a keyboard and a mouse (only reason why I didn't get the Xbox 360 version was because Steam had an amazing sale on ME1 one day and I decided to give it a try). But the controller mapping was exactly how I expected it to be like. I consider this to be the best cover shooter on the market and its still true even with the PS3 DS3.

- Not a big quip but I thought this version would come with all the DLC but I was wrong. Oh well since the major ones that has story in it are included straight way on the disc.

So once again, thanks and I double dipped for this amazing adventure.

I played ME1 and 2 on my 360 but was really excited to play ME2 on playstation.

The demo kind of dampened my spirits when i played it. However, i bought the ps3 version today and its really good. The graphics are really impressive... i find myself stopping and just acknowledging how good things look frequently. The ability to change the shooting controls is also pretty cool since i was used to the xbox version.

I like the comic, although its obvious it wont do the first game justice, its still a good inclusion. i like having the option to make (new)critical decisions from the first game without having to go through that game all over.

Thank you Bioware. Good work...

Hello Bioware! I find having the complete Mass Effect 2 experience on one convenient disc an absolute joy! The graphics are the best example I have ever seen of the Unreal 3 engine to date and I'm amazed at how well everything translated over to the PS3 considering the difficulties the PS3 has had in the past with other games that use the Unreal 3 engine.

Reducing the number of hacking mini games was a much welcome change. It was never a big deal to begin with but with the PS3 version I don't feel like I'm being taken out of the action as often.

The comic book was good but I would still suggest anyone who is new to the Mass Effect  universe glance through the codex at least.

Lastly, I'm very pleased that you included all of the DLC on one disc rather than make them seperate downloads. Honestly, I would've preferred it if the Cerberus Network content and comic book were all included in the disc without requiring seperate downloads but I do understand why it is necessary.

As someone who is now a proud owner of Mass Effect 2 on all 3 platforms I am thrilled at the chance to relive this amazing experience on the PS3 and from the looks of things so far I'm in for the best version of the game on any platform.

Please release more DLC soon Bioware!

Ok, about two hours into the game, and all-in-all, excellent

The one seriously annoying thing about the PS3 version: long load times on Normandy. It takes over 30 seconds for each level of the ship, excluding the Capt Quarters - just seems much, much longer than the 360 version.

I was hoping for the computer on the Cerebus Network would load, at least welcoming PS3 fans...looks weird with it down, and just getting the 'connected to EA servers' message

If I had never played ME1, and just learned about that game from the interactive comic, I would have asked, 'what the hell is a Geth?' They are not made clear in the intro scene and online comic, though shown very, very quickly

So far amazing! The tech screen tearing is gone from the video clips that plagued the demo! Great job guys! I havent played to far in but it seems great. The comic wasnt too bad and did it's job well. Meer is the man! I didnt expect VO work on the comic so it surprised me! Only problem still plaguing ME2 is unskipable cut scenes... If you could skip all movies in the game, you could get more done in multiple playthroughs. Ive seen the intro over 10x now and as amazing as it was the first couple of times, Im over it and want to start playing the game! All the unskippable cut scenes annoy me! Please make a patch to allow skipping all cutscenes that way if we dont want to rewatch something, we can click past it.

I've been dying to play Mass Effect since the series first came out on the 360, so I was psyched when it came to the PS3. Though it would have been nice to have access to ME1, I didn't find it that crippling to follow the story of ME2 (though admittedly I did read the first two novels and watched over 3 hours of Mass Effect 1 stories on youtube).

The comic idea was novel, but I don't really think it was detailed as it could have been. It would have been nice to be able to make more choices, and be a little more interactive.
The game itself is amazing. Graphics are beautiful, gameplay is tight, and the story is great. Only aout 5 hours in, but I'm loving it. I've noticed a little stuttering in the cutscenes, and I have been caught on a box one time, but they were rare and did not affect the immersion. (I might have been desensitized though, having played both Fallout 3 and New Vegas).

On a side note, any ETA on when we will be able to register the game on the site?

Disclaimer: After reading the rules I should clarify that I have only played ME2 on PS3 (well worth the wait), but I have played ME1, in case that somehow disqualifies me .

Agreed, this was one of the first things I did. It feels great. TBH R2 and L2 can't really compare to those 360 triggers (or even to the sleek new Move triggers;  I wish sony would release a new controller) but they still make a great alternative. Custom control setups are always nice (I'm looking at you, Dead Space).

Anyway, back ontopic - The comic was awesome all things considered; Brought back some great memories but skipped a bit more than I thought it would. Allowing us to correct previous mistakes is nice though, so I'm guessing 360 and PC fans will appreciate it also. Game is great, only stopping because I will drop dead if I don't eat eventually :P

I do kinda miss the ability to crouch without cover (that would be nice in Dragon Age also), and L3/R3 feel a bit redundant in light of its absence but still... I am in absolute love. The combat is tight and the conversations are still engaging as ever (although I accidentally hit a woman live on tv... omg... thankfully Quit Game/Reload was there for me before it autosaved again :innocent:).

The devil is in the details really, and i could go on and on.  The little things you can buy for your quarters, the dance floor in the club!  The universe itself seems less "overly clean" like before and its just mmm... I wanna live there. Can you stream the game directly into my brain while I retire into stasis?

As previously echoed, the Demo had me worried at first (and probably shouldn't have shown us the opening sequence - to preserve its emotional impact for the full game). But the screen tearing is gone (at least as far as I can tell, 4-5 hours in), and the game runs much better.

The weapons system is an amazing step in the right direction, way better than the standard issue 4-pack that plagued its predecessor. You know... "You will carry that heavy assault rifle and like it, Miss Tsoni!  Do I have to hit R2?"

Also the cloak!  I love the class changes, you've made Infiltrator much more rogue-like and less... grenade monster

And the side missions... I've only done one (minor collection quests notwithstanding), but it broke my heart. Returning to the "scene of the crime" of the Intro all alone, in golden silence. Reading every last name. It casts a shadow so long over the original's by the book planet combat... its simply stellar.

(More Edits) I completely forgot! The space travel... I'm reminded of Star Control and Star Flight and all those old classics, it really really really is a nice touch. I mean, you obviously didn't need to do that, just like releasing on PS3 to begin with... but you did, I just... wow.  .  Thank you

I guess could keep going, but dinner is done and I'm officially fiendin! I have -got- to have my  Mass Ef-Fix. Err, Effect.

Well said Cyocide. I've always felt that the Mass Effect series is the spiritual successor to Star Control II.

Watching a friend play it right now, and since we've both also played the Xbox 360 version, can't comment much on the story (at least not from a "PS3-only player" perspective). But there are quite a few technical problems that are worth discussing, as well as the comic.

*minor spoilers*

- The framerate dipped quite a bit during the Archangel fight as well as while outside in larger environments like the Overlord mission. We're also noticing that the framerate spikes while in smaller environment, but then dips into the sub-30 FPS range for a second or 2 when you move into a larger area.

- Not digging the new lighting system....not one bit. If this is what's in store for ME3, then I fear we're going to be in for a significant disappointment. Jacob looks much better during most of the scenes, but everything appears to look flat. These are higher-res textures? They sure look washed out. It looks like maybe you were playing around with additional artificial highlighting but the result is some inconsistency in the light source for the scene. 15% of the time, the game looks better (Normandy destruction prologue, definitely looks better), but the other 85% of the time, the game looks like it's missing something.

- Blood Dragon Armor looks a lil' nicer on the PS3 version.

- No disc-swapping will probably be a bonus, but load times don't seem like they've been improved much. It's strange, because what you'd think would be a short load (going from Deck 4 to Deck 3) can actually be a longer load than going from the Normandy to the Citadel. Doesn't happen all of the time, but it's very odd.

- The interactive comic was very well-done, but shorter than an interview with a gaming website let on. Picking the important decisions is great since players won't be stuck with the default PC/Xbox Renegade Shepard w/ a gimped storyline. It's a welcome addition to the game, and I highly suggest when ME3 rolls around, you do the same thing to cover both Mass Effect 1 AND 2. When will this be released for the PC/Xbox 360???

- Mordin is still awesome. ^_^

just dip into ME2 last night not too long, only two missions or so, can't comment about the comic though, I haven't finished download the pack, what I wanted to comment about are:

the game performance:

I love how fast the loading screen, compared to dragon age the loading screen in ME2 is lightyear speed!!

The Armor:

apparently bonus armors, such as Blood Dragon armor is a one set piece skin, can't separate the helmet? bummer.

other than that can't really put any constructive comments, maybe I'm coming back later on hehe

thanks for the port though, really appreciate it for a one console only gamer this is a blessing.

I bought this game again for the PS3 to show my support, its a good thing i don't have to buy the DLC again, as i have it all for the 360, i can do with out the costume packs and other misc weapons that are not story centric.

Lets get this straight...I'm just a huge fan that I bought the 7.XX whatever pack for the extra armor and weapon sets that didn't get included in the game.  I already gave my initial impression and I was going to push on with the game but I had a few things I needed to do so I never got really passed the making a Shepard screen. So here we go again!

I hate the controls. Its nothing you can do to fix since I loved the Keyboard/mouse. It just gels and glides where the controller feels pretty bleh and clunky.  Seriously if all you have played ME2 was on the Xbox 360 go play the PC version.  Everything just glides so smooth.

Next thing I have an issue with is the very 1st mission you do where you find Veetor the sound is off. Before you have a fight with the YMIR Mech the sound is ahead of the animation. If you guys could patch that I would be greatful...as I plan to make many many more Shepard's

Another thing is the cutscenes...  I don't know but they look very low in quality and bland.

Also is there anyway in ME3 you guys can make ummm Shepard I don't know...?  A little more fluid?  S/he's stiff all the damn time and I guess one of the reason is because since this is one of the choose your own fate type of game with no shades of grey that they always turn out stiff but s/he's very robotic.

So far, I absolutely love the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2. I'll just go ahead and say what I didn't like since everything is just so awesome. I've done the intro, Normandy Crash Site, Overlord, Firewalker, Kasumi, Zaeed and I just recruited Garrus. That's enough for tonight.

==============================================

Here's what I don't really like about the PS3 version:

- The interactive comic seem to forget to mention things about Mass Effect 1 like the Geth, the Conduit, the Mu Relay or Feros.

- Since there's no possible way to play Mass Effect 1, could you guys have allow us to see Fist, Helena Blake, Conrad Verner, etc? They're nice characters and some of us on PS3 actually played other versions of Mass Effect 1 before. Why do you guys cut extra nice characters like that completely out of this version? Patch it please.

- On the Overlord map where you control the Hammerhead, I came across many low resolution texture on the grassy ground and I've encountered bugs where I go through the ground.

- On the Normandy SR-2, the loading times seem quite long to me compared to the 360 version. Why is that? Loading times elsewhere are fast enough.

- On Freedom's Progress, the scene where the Quarian group gets killed by the YMIR Mech needs to be adjusted. The sound and the cinematic aren't coordinated with each other.

==============================================

Overall, the PS3 version is great. A nice patch would be needed to adress certain problems maybe, but I like it a lot so far. Everything I need to experience Mass Effect 2 and the DLCs on ONE disc. Thanks BioWare!

Played through about 10 missions so far, having played the 360 version through about 5 times I have a few notes.

On the positive, the game does appear to be "clearer" on the PS3, but I have a few content gripes.

1: Bioware, why on Earth bother making a game on BLU-RAY just to have standard definition fmv? The Citidel intro video especially is just pathetic. It stuck out like a sore thumb on 360 just as much, but here there's no excuse. C'mon guys...lol

2: Conrad Verner and company. What the Hell? Gimping content on the PS3 version under the assumption they'll never know its missing is downright BS. The Verner bit especially was hilarious and is sorely missing. This was lazy and wrong, and doesn't speak very well for your opinion of PS3 fans. When you port a game a year late at FULL PRICE, you might just consider porting the FULL GAME. Shame on you.

3: The interactive comic being hand drawn was a novel idea but ultimately a waste of time. Not only is the comic woefully short, but imo should have been created using in-game stills and footage from ME1, even slightly animated, and vastly expanded with original voice clips. Not only would you be able to insert a custom created Shepard into the comic, fans might just be able to tell Liara apart from any other Asari, along with every other character. Great gesture, but ultimately is a far cry from fully setting up the story and characters from ME1.

Overall, a technical great port, but it treats PS3 players like they're deaf blind and dumb.
