Feedback! Awesome.
First the comic.... I love comics, but I think it sucked. Let me explain why: it didn't do enough to explain things to those who've never played Mass Effect 1 before. (Like myself).
A couple of the choices in the comic were just presented basically as: I could do this... or I could do that. CHOOSE. But they were completely without context, so how could anyone make an informed choice? The 1st playthrough I had, I made choices that I turned out didn't agree with... which is okay if I'm doing that ON PURPOSE. But I had to go to Youtube and watch an entire playthrough of ME1 to finally get the context of my choices.
For example, killing the Rachni Queen. The choice was presented as: Her people are dangerous and they threatened the galaxy before. On the other hand, I could free her. Well duh, I executed her. Lost in the context was that she was a sapient being who was helpless behind a dome and begging to be freed.
Or with choosing either Udina or Anderson. In the comic, the choice was presented as "both were good leaders in their own right." Yes, but Udina was a douche who sold you out to the Council and grounded your ship, and Anderson risked his career to fix things. When you understand that, the choice becomes clearer.
The comic also missed out on major issues, like Shepard's encounter with Geth over and over again, the Mu Relay, etc. I know you don't want people going through a comic for 30 minutes, but this comic was just way too streamlined. Anyway, I don't know how to fix that problem, since the game is so huge and so many choices could be made.
But maybe instead of a comic, use actual scenes from the game or gameplay. I really couldn't make out what was going on in the comic at times, like when Sovereign clamped down on the Citadel... Take out key scenes from the story from the gameplay and then give the choices. In any case, I appreciate the effort.
The game itself was awesome. Again, up until now I haven't played a ME game. It was a thrilling and addicting experience. The scale and epicness of it was... well epic. I can't nitpick any non-technical aspects of the game... I'd say in the character creator, have the Shepard blink so that we can see what s/he'll look like when they're blinking. And make it easier to see all angles of Shepard's face so we don't get any "surprises" once we're done with the Character Creator, because it takes about 30 minutes to start up a new game if we're not happy with the look.
And on that note, PLEASE LET US SKIP CUTSCENES! For those loser kids out there that skip cutscenes even before they've played the game once... that's their problem. But for those of us who've played it 4 times and want to play again, do we really need to see the initial speech with Miranda and the Illusive Man? Let us skip cutscenes in the beginning and maybe a longer "comic" or whatever would be worth it.
The mineral mining game was kinda addicting. I didn't really have a problem with it. I would ask that for ME3, I hope there's even more interaction with the characters. ME2 felt too much like... Go to a planet for a crazy space adventure, go back to your ship and chill. Rinse and Repeat. The best parts of my 1st playthough were when wrenches were thrown into the formula: ie. the Horizon, Collector Ship missions. Forced missions brought you out of the comfort zone and kept things fresh. More of that, please!
About the technical issues: the audio sync is disconcerting. I'm glad the dialogue is actually in sync all the time, but even so, the dialogue audio sometimes cuts out before the end of the sentence. These are all things that could be rectified to make a truly genius title even better.
I've encountered some freezes, but as long as my games don't get corrupted I'm cool.
In any case, you've probably heard a lot about certain technical issues about the PS3 port, so I'll leave it to the "experts" over at that forum.
Oh, and being able to play the Liara, Kasumi and Zaeed missions was a real plus. The Shadow Broker mission was especially epic. I heard it was a DLC, but when I played through I was pretty surprised at how big it was.
So yeah, those are the problems and props I had for the game. Make sure ME3 is released for PS3 this time!
