I'm usually a warrior but I may choose a rogue since the moves look so awesome..

Mages suck.

Hard.

Indeed.

Quite hard.

I am resisting the urge to write a blunt and tactless comment about that being one of many reasons mages are awesome.

IF the polls are showing people don't like rogues as much, it's probably because of the ninjafication. I'm sticking with the rogue, though. It's better to fight smart than fight strong.

Mage seems the way to go for me. Hawke's father and ancestor's were mages. Plus, the mage class has been upped a lot and after seeing some gameplay of bethany, the mage looks like it can do an assload of damage with powerful spells. plus, mage armor looks cooler

I usually like to play rogue for the "Shhhh, go see your mommy." as I backstab your kidney factor. But I'm liking the more flowing nature of DA2's combat, so I might like to try mage and have a character who turns the tide for all my other party members. Throwing some fire here, a hex there, and then blasting enemy archers and mages with long range doom.

I will, however, miss Bethanny :(

I've noticed that a lot of people have either chosen the mage class or the warrior class for Dragon Age 2?  What class will you be: mage or warrior, and why?

Please, for the love of all that is good and holy, stop making multiple threads about the same question.  Why not stick with one single thread and discuss the pros and cons of either class?  You have started at least 4 active (ie. not locked) threads all dealing with the same subject of vacilliation back and forth between choosing the mage or warrior classes.

Rogue, mages are weaklings who hide behind their magic. Warriors are alright tho

1) Warrior/Rogue to get Bethany.

2) Mage to use the Staff of Parthalan in case I can't equip Bethany with it.

Mage, hopefully Arcane Warrior, if there is the option.

My f!Cousland was a warrior, I figured it was time for a change. :)

So wait, melee for mages is actually confirmed? I got the impression from the trailers(spears and stuff) that we WOULD eventually get something like this, since Arcane Warrior is out of the game.

Mages can do staff melee now.  There aren't any talents so it really isn't that useful.

Hmm, I could've sworn I heard something though about your magic stat also affecting your stat abilities. This still leaves the issue of Mages having absolutely no armor, but I would hope we can at least deal some damage, like Hawke trailer-style.

Does the staff of Parthalan do magic AND melee damage or just one of them?

You're out of luck. No AW in this game :pinched: Force mage looks good though despite the sucky name. We may be able to build an AW manually.

Put points into strength and you can equip armour which is why I say we may be able to build an AW manually.

Mage for the first playthrough, then rogue. I've always had a mild dislike for the warrior class in DA:O. I could never really get into it.

That would be an interesting build. But as long as I can cut people good with my staff and light them on fire, I'll be a happy man. Image IPB

Rogue.

I like all of the classes, but I always liked the idea of being a quick fighter who uses twin daggers and devastates their foes before they can even react. Just my two cents.
