Is it just me or does this game freeze up a lot. Everytime I go to codex and do mark all as viewed and then exit it freezes. Sometimes when loading the next room it freezes. Is this happening to anyone else?

Nothing on my end. The only problem I had was one cutscene in which sound did not match the scene by being about a second late. Otherwise it runs like a gem.

I have the 60gb old PS3. And I just went into the codex and moved up one line and then exited, and it frooze once again. I'd rather be playing black ops which doesnt freeze.

I've got the older PS3 as well, and I get a never ending load screen right after Freedom's Progress. Last time something like this happened it was with Dragon Age and we had to wait for a system patch from Sony.
This could take a while......

I hope we dont get treated like how treyarch treats their ps3 customers. This game is unplayable and freezes everytime.

I know someone with a first gen 80 gig PS3 playing through the game at the moment that hasn't experienced any issues thus far.
I'll make the producer for this project aware of this thread just in case. (that's if he doesn't run into this on his own before I talk to him tomorrow)
My hope is that it's worn hardware rather than a problem for a huge number of people; that's still not good, but at least it'd be less bad.

Thanks, but I doubt its the hardware. This is the only game that freezes on my ps3. It usually happens when there are a lot of things happening on screen, like codex/mission update or moving the camera while opening a door.

Hey!! I have the same problem as burnham.
Mine is the 40GB Fat PS3 that came out just before the Slim was released and I am getting stuck at the loading screen after pressing 'New Game' and choosing 'Male'. I have tried it 3 times.
I have currently deleted the game data and reinstalling. I just hope that will fix the problem.
I have also downloaded DLC and do not dare to delete that just in case I can't redownload it.
Any help will be appreciated.
I will also respond back after the game has reinstalled.

I have a 160GB Slim and so far I have experienced freezing twice. Both occurred while changing armor. Not hardware related, this is the only game in my collection experiencing issues. Other than those two instances of freezing, it runs flawlessly.
(Project Overload has a few graphical issues as well as anything involving the Hammerhead.)

Just thought I'd mention to any moderators, I'm also getting graphics issues in terms of texture and shading during the game play I can access (Freedom's Progress), and the video of the new Normandy plays fast and seems slightly out of sync.
After that, the dreaded never-ending loading screen is what I get. I've left it alone for up to 20 minutes and still no joy. Is this a game error, or something on the system software side (like the freezing problem with Dragon Age)?

Ok guys. I just got back with handling the EA Technical Support.
It seems that when my PS3 is completely disconnected from the internet and not just PSN, the game runs smoothly.
Try running the game offline.
Also, right now, after doing a trace route, EA is blaming my ISP for some packet loss in certain ip addresses.
But if that is the case, why is it that everything is fine when I play Dragon Age while connected to EA servers and all? Hmm...

It still frooze but not at the codex only when there are a lot of things on screen. http://yfrog.com/h0cd2bj I push start here and then it freezes. This is right after the illusive man. If I wait until the codex/journal updates on the bottom right of the screen stop popping up, and then push start, everything is fine and there is no freezing. Maybe my isp keeps sending corrupt packets.

I tested offline and I was still able to duplicate the freezing on the armor load-out screen. I unistalled the game and DLC and reinstalled as basic troubleshooting dictates. I can still reproduce these conditions when switching armors several times.

It freezes on the weapon loadout screen once for me and the game is not running smooth, I will try to disconnect from the EA servers to see how it goes.

Remember guys, disconnecting from the EA servers is not enough. Your PS3 has to have no access to the internet in any way and not just logging out of PSN too.
It's very troublesome but this is all we have until Bioware fixes the issue.
@tdotoplaya69
Same here! Right after I talked to the elusive man and the game asks you to press the start button, the game froze. But then again, my PS3 was connected to the internet again. XD
I'm turning in for today, will resume tomorrow and hope I can move on from that part of the game. :X

I had just one freeze after playing all night last night. It happened on the new Normandy after checking my emails, only got one new message, and after exiting the terminal the game froze.
I had already checked the initial set of messages regarding backstory and DLC without issues, I think I remember this last message also being related to DLC, an armor set.
Restarting from the last auto-save (exiting the elevator, just before the crash) and checking the terminal didn't cause a crash a second time. I had been playing for about 4 hours before the initial crash.
Have done some exploring but have mainly just been on Omega, picked up Zaeed, the Prof and Archangel, went to Normandy crash site, some minor Cerberus outposts and a bit of planet scanning for good measure.
[Edit] I have been logged into PSN and EA's servers the entire time.

It freezes a second time now in loading screen. Very frustrating when you pay $60 plus $8 for the DLCs and the game just don`t work properly.

Took my PS3 offline and still the game won't play past the eternal loading screen after Freedom's Progress. Come on, Bioware. We patiently wait all this time and shell out a sizable sum only to have the game be unplayable?
I, for one, expected a bit better in terms of quality control. I didn't spend money to be frustrated after a long day.
