For those asking about the European version, yes it has the same issue.
And the PS3's firmware definitely isn't causing it, I'm on 3.41.

Yeah and I'll say it again too.

Sweden, Europe.

PS3 80GB (CECHL04) upgraded to Western Digital Scorpio Blue 320GB
PS3 Firmware 3.55.

I get the Romance Photo Bug (Kaiden shows instead of my romance Liara in Captains Quarters)
Freeze In Kasumi DLC, Freeze in Aite. Overlord bad texture, vegetation popups (bushes) and lots of falling through/clipping the ground.

So far I have not gotten a corrupt save on the freeze, and I don't want to, so until adressed by EA/BioWare any further advancements in ME2 is put on the shelf. :(

I am having game freezes and frame rate issue throughout the game so far.  Not to mention the color glitch issue, flying through walls and ground getting stuck, pixelated textured flickering and more.  I will not be playing this game until patches are released.  The developers should be ashamed of there poor quality of work.  "definitive version" what a joke.

Sweden here...

Only played for 16 hours before it froze and corrupted my data but it still sucks, I mean, I don't want to play it over and over, playing fr 30 hours and risk it being corrupted again, which seems to be verly likely, so what's a girl to do? Just wait for the patch I suppose. But I have to say that I am very disapointed.

Just did a speed run to get to where I was when my data corrupted yesterday and it hung while travelling to the assassins mission and guess who's data is corrupted AGAIN. Should have went with my instinct. Not playing this again until it's patched. Will contact shopto tomorrow about returning the game as it's unplayable while this issue exists. As EA and Bioware are silent on it I'm not getting my hopes up for a patch.

same here... I mean just about speed run part cause you know what happened yeterday.
yup. Shadow Broker curse and corrupted save data.
But on topic.
I just got freezee when I wanted to close third shutter while in mission to recruit Archangel. Weird cause I did it third time and never happened before.
also I did it in different way. at firs and second walkthrough I closed first shutter and sexond was on the right. This time I wanted to close right one at the end. So I entered room and.... game crushed.
At least my savegame isn't corrupted heh. I mean it is but not the new one... and I miss my 'old' femShep :(

Seriously I would like some response from BioWare officials on this matter, if they have identified the problem, if they are working on a solution and if so, WHEN is a fix is coming? This is ridiculous.. Jack were ya go?

I have a 250GB Slim, and haven't experienced any bugs other than some sounds being dropped.

The fact that they haven't said anything may be related to this being apparently a very uncommon problem.

Google for "Mass Effect 2 freezing PS3" and the only place besides this that comes up is a locked thread in a subforum called "System Wars" started by a user with "XBox" in their screen name.

I am pretty firmly convinced now that this is being drummed up by 360 fanboys because they're upset the PS3 version looks better (or that the PS3 version exists at all) (or that the PS3 version "gets DLC for free").

I've had a perfect gaming experience, no low frame rates, perfect sound and picture sync, no bad texturing, or clipping through objects. The game was 100% running like a dream.

Then I got 1 freeze, corrupted data, 35hours of gameplay gone.

Suffice to say, Bioware has untill friday (last day I can return the game for my full refund) to post an update on the issue, and assure me that If I play the game again it will not happen, or at least sort out the absolutely PATHETIC decision to put all saves into one file. If not, Byebye Bioware, mistakes I don't mind, hell I even stick with Treyarchs messes, but mistakes that mean I have to repeat 90% of the game multiple times, every time flipping a coin on wether or not I will make it through a loading screen I will not take.

And will not risk my money, or time on future products - which would be a shame, as they release the best games IMO.

Seriously, can you please leave this thread. Nothing you say is constructive and is borderline trolling. If you aren't going to contribute to finding a solution to the problems we are experiencing, simple don't post your unwanted and unwarranted opinions.

How is you posting that helping anyone either?  Why don't you leave the thread?  I have at least provided several possible solutions or explanations.

Trying to control disinformation is not trolling.  This issue really is only being brought up on this forum, and that is very suspicious.  I do not want anyone turned away from buying an excellent version of an excellent game by misleading information.

Please let EA/BioWare answer for their own defence, so far I've had ALL bugs posted in theese forums exept actual data corruption, and rainbow colors on screen.

But sure if it helps I'll go post on Bungies forums or Nintendos or Microsofts etc.. NOW PLEASE STOP!!!!

prazision you are an absolute idiot. You want to know why there are so many people complaining about problems here? It a technical support forum on the developers website. Seriously you don't understand that???? That's like going to a hospital and seeing a bunch of sick people and telling them they aren't sick or they are faking it because there are a disproportionate number there..... wow dude just please go away we just want to be able to play this game and without problems. The last thing we want to hear is you telling us we are making them up.

Exactly. If this were simply a matter of anti-PS3 trolling, then the complaints would be even more widespread on numerous sites. Why would all the 'trolls' post on a single board? The fact the single board is the official tech support forum should probably tell you something.

When New Vegas was released, there were nonstop threads on every gaming forum that exists about the bugs, and it was widely reported by reputable gaming sites.

That is not happening here. What is happening here is that somewhere around a dozen people (literally) are posting nonstop about an issue. Well, if this problem were completely software related, and widespread, wouldn't more than a dozen people be on here with raised pitchforks?

I just don't understand how such a small number of people reporting a bug is evidence that it's the game's fault entirely. All console games freeze sometimes - all of them.

Well guess what we dont understand it either. We arent asking You to. We are asking the developers. WE are having these problems, you are not. We dont care if everyone is having them or only us "dozen" either way we just need them fixed. So please for the love of god stop posting here. We need th Developers to respond not you. Unless your coming out with a patch stop posting.

Actually, ME2 on the PS3 locks up about as much as Fallout: NV for me.

In comparison, the 360 version never froze on me, even on a first-run 90nm unit. And I beat it at least 10x.

It is a very significant difference. I'm sure Bioware will patch it though... it's not as if DA:O on the PS3 didn't get patched.

A froze happened with me while I was doing the last hack for Liara on Illium, I hacked the terminal by the personal weapons kiosk, the countdown began and then it just froze. When I restarted the console and loaded an auto save the freeze went away.

I am using the slim model and I was playing for an hour to 2 hours before the freeze

For anyone experiencing the bypass wall safe and door freezing try accessing the door on a diagonal angle rather than straight on. Start back far enough so the action button box is greyed out. Line your character up at a diagonal angle then press forward and start tapping X at the same time. This has been working for me in places I've gotten stuck before.

What the hell does what you think have anything to do with the fact that this is happening to people?  And it's not a dozen people.  Go to gamefaq's forums or psx forums or gamespot forums or ign forums.  It's happening to a significant number of people.  It's not the cluster**** that New Vegas was but that game didn't erase 30 hours of work either.

I've had the game freeze on me three times while beating it.  Luckily the save file wasn't hurt.  There's also significant audio glitches.  Not game breaking but ridiculous for a game.

If your game isn't freezing you have no reason to post in this thread.

Tried this and still not working. I have now tried the same door 12 times now and it freezes every time. I am trying different viewing angles/options/weapons etc. and will post back if I find something that works.

7 hours in and freezed only once in Kasumi mission when you open the door with code and DNA sample. Door opens and some background sound plays but nothing happening after and game freezes. i guess it's a script bug after rebooting PS3 and loading save , script gone OK.

hmmm I just wanted to remind you that you are playing on console. games shoyld work in 100%

what is this crap? I should open door from different angles not stanfing in front of them?

erm... WTF?! are you nuts?

YOU HAVE PAID 60$ for finished product. You are NOT beta tester. You should enjoy yourself with non-stress gampley (unless you play on insanity and forgot to cover ;) )

Playing in that generation makes me sick It's like playing on a PC with constant wait for patch to a patch with paches 1000000 different patches because someone couldn't make it works at first place.

stop defending Bioware/EA/Activision/ANYBODY... there should not be situation like that.

for instance Black Ops on Ps3 is playable now... after errr 4 months of patching? when will be ME2 ready? YOU HAD A YEAR! A YEAR!

We consumers/customers/players - call us what you will aren't payed for testing your game. You should at least tell us something, not avoid subject. ME2 port isn't flawless. It should be.

and you Bioware/EA don't even care. You should apologise that you messed up. Of course you won't.

thank you for your attention people.
