i get a freeze when a access the squad menu sometimes and have to restart. so far hasn't stopped the ability to keep playing, just having to save constantly and restart at times is extremely annoying. im very disappointed they would release the game like this. i hope an update comes soon.

Let's clear things up.

If you are using a wired connection, take out the ethernet cable.

As long as it is connected, chances are, the game will be communicating with the EA server.

That's how I was able to play without any problems.

I tried that when I was doing some trouble shooting. Same results as before. Doesn't matter if it is connected or isn't, it still freezes. I have a co-worker who also has similar issues and he also still has freezing issues, connected or not.

Guys. Interestingly enough, I found that even when COMPLETELY offline, as long as my PSN is still trying to sign in (because I have auto sign-in on) the game will still freeze.
Guess this is not an internet connection issue. I will advise that you take out the ethernet cable from your PS3 and check that PSN is not trying to sign--in before launching the game.

I have therefore concluded that I have been experiencing freezing problems when...
1) PS3 connected to the internet and is logged in to PSN
2) PS3 connected to the internet but is not logged in to PSN
3) PS3 completely offline but PSN attempting to sign-in

I have been experiencing a LOT of freezing issues when I fall under any of the 3 scenarios stated above.

Therefore, please check that your PS3 is complete offline with no access to the internet followed by PSN not trying to sign-in.
It seems that only this will make the game run smoothly. But I'll still be checking it out. :)

I have reported this to EA and this issue is being brought up to the seniors.
I have also given this forum link to them in hopes that your experiences here will help them get to understand the problem more.

In the mean time, please report about your experiences too. :)

I've played around 7 hours and it's froze once and has almost froze three times... (almost froze = screen freezes for more than a second... in the middle of combat)

Edit: I'm playing on a one year old PS3 slim / wired connection

I dont think this has anything to do with the psn or anything network. There are too many memory leaks in this game and that is why it keeps freezing. Hopefully they patch this pretty soon.

I've just recently started having the same problems as everyone else. The weird thing is that the game was running perfectly fine until i got to Illium and that's were the characters voices started going blank.Only background sound and footsteps are heard. Once i pressed the start or the PS Button it freezes completely.
I also do know I started having problems also once i downloaded the Cerberus dlc pack. I haven't deleted the dlc yet.I'll give it a try and I'll let you guys know if fixes itself somehow.
Could the DLC be glichy?

I have gone completely offline, gotten the disc replaced, and all that's happened is now instead of freezing after the "Press START Screen" I am able to start a New Game and it freezes after the very first load screen. It loads, then goes black, and that's it...

I would admit is was my hardware if it wasn't freezing in a different spot as the first disc.

This is worst than I thought.

After quitting the game to go out for a while and having come back, I am unable to get past the loading screen before the Start screen at all.

I am completely offline.

This problem seems to be more about the game now.

I am truly upset at the kind of quality assurance EA is using.

And not to mention, as RBdrift suspected, it might be the DLC game data.

If the DLC game data was already in the disc, EA testers will have been able to notice this problem (that is if they did not download the DLC from PSN when testing the game out).

This is the first PS3 game that I've come across that is completely unplayable in any way.

I don't think it's isolated to DLC. I've tried deleting the DLC data and Game Data on several occasions and I still run into the same issues. The game freezes even without the DLC installed.

And I'm not having any issues with any other games...disc or DLC based.

I tried deleting the DLC and re-downloaded it again and it actually played fine for about an hour until it froze again, and so far the voices haven't gone blank again. Ive had ME2 since last Thursday (got it early) and had zero problems.until yesterday when I put in my voucher code and got the Cerberus DLC. Im almost convinced that the problem has something to do with the dlc.

As of now, I am still unable to get past the loading screen before the 'Start Screen'. :crying:
I've reinstalled the Game Data again and tried launching another game(which played fine).
And yet, I am still unable to get past the damn loading screen. I am truly upset. :crying:

I know exactly how you feel, especially since I have been waiting for this game since ME1 came out.

I hope Bioware can isolate the bug and fix it FAST because I highly doubt we"re the only ones having these problems.

I figured I'd create an account and chime in to say I'm having the same freezing problems. Every time I try to change my armor the game freezes up, and I can't do anything. I've let it sit for a long time, I've tried disconnecting from the internet, nothing.

I have an old 80 gig fat PS3, all the DLC downloaded, and I connect via wireless if it helps. Hope whatever the bug is gets fixed fast, because I have a terrible armor on for my class, and I'd like to change it.

Mine just froze while fighting the collectors on Horizon. Strange side note though, when it froze the music from afterlife started playing.

One question guys. (First of all wow the developers had 1 year and they still messed up the copies and the DLC missions have A LOT of graphical issues. I guess they're still not familiar with the PS3 engine)

Do this problems occur to people who are playing the US or imported their version of the game from UK?? (with BLUS code) I have the European version (with different back cover) and I played an hour without any problem. i could past the 'press start' screen. I'm not able to download the DLC code because I have to wait till firday :s So maybe the EU version of the game is ok??

It doesn't matter which version you have. All will have the same coding.

Mine is the R3 Asian version (Not Japan).

Well then I hope Bioware/EA comes up with a patch soon. It's strange that some people are having no problem and some are. I hope I don't run to any messed up problems Friday :s

Hmm. I have to remove the wrapping from my copy of ME2. I might return it to Wal-Mart, get a refund, and wait to see if EA/Bioware patches the problems folks are having. If so, I'll repurchase the game at that time. If not, well, I've saved myself $63 and change.

I just wish I could get past the first loading screen. I'd be satisfied just being able to get to the comic portion...

And just in case anyone with any real power over the situation reads this...I'm playing the US version, on the very first PS3 system ( I can't remember the specs off the top of my head), and I've tried with and without the DLC
