So i havent experienced any freezing when i went into the options and turned off film grain and also turned off both online options. I played through Freedom and a walk through of the normandy freeze free
I wished that worked for me. I always play with "Film Grain" turned off and for troubleshooting purposes I disabled all online options. I still have occasional freezing. ME2 is the ONLY game I have issues with currently on my system but I even went as far as to reformat it. No help.

As of right now, I'm very tempted to take this horrible experience of a game back to the store and pass on future titles if they can't be bothered to do any form of quality control. The worst part of it is up until this point, I've had nothing but good things to say about Bioware and their games. The sheer scale of the screw-up here is what makes it truly horrible.
BIOWARE: The underlying point is this.....you DO NOT release a game until it has been thoroughly tested and quality assured. This is inviolable in the entertainment industry. It leads to piracy and lost profits. The only choice you have here is to fix this quickly, or lose loyal customers. Would you be pleased to spend hard earned money on a product that is completely unplayable? What makes this situation completely unacceptable is that no information has been forthcoming about any attempts to solve the issues here. I'm willing to bet that most of us would wait patiently (again) for this game to become playable if you would only be honest and forthright about what's going on. By not doing so you've simply showcased to us that you're not interested in making a quality product anymore, but in simply taking what you can from your fan base.
Unless something changes soon, I for one won't be coming back. Good luck rolling out The Old Republic, Dragon Age 2, and ME3 with a newly tarnished track record if that's the way you choose to do things.

I really, really hope this is isolated because I was loving the game until that point. I haven't gone back yet (it was late anyway) but hopefully tonight it works. If this turns into a freezefest like Fallout New Vegas then it's going back to the store. I'm not going to play a game that keeps making me hard reboot my PS3 no matter how good it is.
PS: I run a 60gig launch PS3 and have never had a problem with a game aside from FO:NV (which was unforgivably buggy).

One cause of freezing has been isolated and identified, last week if I recall correctly, and they're keeping an eye out for others.
I can't promise anything one way or another for this, but I wanted you fellows to know that we are aware of what people are reporting and we are reading through the forums.

Despite the problems with the game, the openness is much appreciated and it goes a long way. If you can keep us appraised of the progress, we can be patient. Thanks again.

Just to make you fellows aware, I've brought this issue up with the fellows currently assigned to ME2 PS3 testing.

Appreciate the prompt reply.
I have to say though, doesn't that beg the question? I was always under the impression game testing was performed and completed prior to the game being shipped.

That is mostly true, although I hesitate to say that testing is every truly complete, and games over a certain size are almost never bug free when shipped either.
The hope is always that you caught and fixed all the bugs that people were likely to be upset at encountering.
There are sadly bugs that are important that slip through the cracks, and there's also some bugs that are so complex or difficult to fix that they're too risky to attempt to touch after a certain point, out of danger of breaking things far worse than they currently are.
We are just a little lucky in that we have a few people who are tasked with testing ME2 PS3 at the moment who can take a look at these things as they perform their duties.

Right on, but I guess they rushed it this time. Hopefully not a mistake that will be repeated anytime soon.
Last time I saw anything like this was when LucasArts fired most of the Q & A staff before they released 'The Force Unleashed'. Needless to say, the same had a few bugs and they didn't make that stupid move again when they released the sequel.

Good points. The more complex the game, particularly ones with complex dialog options and lots of quests, tend to be those that suffer the most bugs. I've always taken it as coming with the territory. Only FO:NV was actually bad enough to push me over the edge.
On a better note, I just went through the conversation that froze last night without an issue. Hopefully things stay that way. Off to play now.

Interesting facts that might help you solve this problem:
- Running on a PS3 80G with upgraded hard drive (non Sony)
- Me and my brother share this game and he installed it just fine on his PS3 slim and it ran smooth. But when i tried to install it and play i got stuck in the loading screen (the green disk whom keeps spinning and spinning) without the hard disk light indicator showing.
- Tried unplugging the internet connection.
- Checked the BluRay-disk for any damage.
Please solve this quickly so i can enjoy this fantastic game of yours.

Yes.. I notice that the people who are experiencing these problems are mostly using the Fat PS3s.
Mine is the 40GB (3rd generation) right before the Slim (4th generation).
Most of my friends using the Slim does not encounter this problem.
Being unplugged from the internet does not assure you that you won't have this error again.
So far, tdotoplaya69's method of saying no to the Online options and turning off the film-grain trick seem to work.
Haven't encountered a single problem through the whole game.
Including a NEW error which previously occurred before I did tdotoplaya69's method on the Region 3 version of the game where they tend to switch the 'execute' button from 'X' to 'O' and vice-versa for the 'exit/cancel' button.
So what happened is that when I go to one of the interactable monitors such as the elevator or the private terminal, there will be this glitch where the right screen will be completely empty with something like the word, 'Titlehere' on top.
The glitch seems to happen because instead of the 'O' button being the execute button, the 'O' button was now assigned as the 'cancel' button and that is the only button that is light up with the word, 'cancel'. No other buttons are light up
And as you can expect, pressing the cancel button doesn't do anything. ALL buttons don't do anything except for going into XMB.
So I am stuck there and have to quit the game.

Another problem is while the characters are having important dialogue it well go totally mute and it doesn't help picking the choices we get after because it feels I'm not getting all the important info from what going on. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks to Jack for paying attention, though. Nice to see someone care about the gamers' problems.

I signed up solely because of this freezing problem. This is my first Bioware game ever and I'm afraid it might be the last one if this shameful situation isn't taken care of.
I got the game a few days ago and played for about 6 hours with few problems (aside from random framerate drops, which are way too common) until today : the game wouldn't load and froze at the main menu (and the Bioware and EA logo animations were laggy every time it happened).
After 4 or 5 tries I finally managed to get the game to run again, yet it froze minutes later in the middle of combat when trying to rescue Jack. The music was still playing even after the screen froze.
This is ridiculous, and very sad because I was actually loving the game. I'm amazed that you people seem so calm when you can't even play a game you spent 60 bucks on. How did developers fix freezing issues in the SNES days? They didn't. They just did their job right in the first place.
