Now is it just me or were you more emotionaly attached to the crew in Mass Effect 1? Now don't get me wrong, I loved the crew in both games (save for Jack, and Zaeed) but overall it seemed like you were closer with your original crew. It seemed like there was more dialogue to be had with them then with the new crew. Anyone else feel this way?

I'm inclined to agree, but I'm probably biased since I don't know just how rose my glasses are actually tinted.

The first crew were gathered organically, they fell in line cuz they believed in the cause or in Shepard Commander.

Second crew were drafted more or less. Only natural the first bunch were more buddy-buddy.

For the record, I dug both Jack and guddam Zaeed, guddammit.

I thought the ME2 crew included much better and more interesting characters, with better dialogue and interaction. I think the ME1 companions were probably the weakest/shallowest characters that Bioware has done so far. I liked the antagonists more in ME1 though.

ME 1, rose-coloured glasses and all.

I can't really be bothered running all over the ship in ME 2 to talk to them anymore. In ME 1, I was usually carrying about 300 assault rifles, shotguns, etc. after a mission that I needed to sell, so it was no big deal to swing by and chat with them.

I didn't like though how in the second one it seemed like you ran out of conversation options with some of the characters so fast, like Garrus for example you had like 3 or 4 conversations with him and that was all you got.

Zaeed is like one of the best characters in ME2...

But yes I did feel more at a home with the ME1 crew. I think it helped everyone wanted to bring down Saren. In ME2 it's like "Oh yeah Collectors are taking your people and I'm pretty badass, but I'm bored enough that I'll help you. Also I have family/trust issues..."

In ME2 the characters were definitley more varried then in the first one, and some of them were more interesting, but you're right they didn't seem an genuine as I would have hoped

Wrex, Ash and Garrus stood out for me in ME1. I personally feel they meshed well with my Shep.

ME2 is ok, so far... I'm kinda of waiting for a point where a character doesn't have some deep rooted emotional problem though (Garrus can be forgiven in any case on this occassion but the rest hmm.)

I don't like that my ship is Cerberus. I miss being in the Alliance.

Selecting a crew for the third would be interesting if you could choose from ME1 and ME2's. That would prevent any new blood from coming in, though.

I think the ME2 crew is more diverse, unique, and overall more interesting especially with the introduction of Loyalty Missions. However, I thought the interaction with the crew was better in ME1. I've got favorites and "meh" characters from both.

Me1 was better. U had to talk to your squad in me1 to be able to their quest. Like wrex if u didnt talk to him about his family he wound not tell u about his familys armor and that is missing. In ME 2 with loyalty missions u didnt have to. My other playthroughs i barely talked to any of them. As soon as the girl told me,"miranda wants to talk you". Thats when i talked to her. To me they were not that good.

Kind of a hard question to answer.

The ME2 crew was FAR more interesting. But they did not interact with eachother (Apart from a couple of b!tch fights), making them seem like much less of a crew.

In ME1, the crew interacted with eachother as if they were an actual crew.

IMO, i prefer character interaction and relationships more than disjointed but very interesting characters.

I miss Wrex. I always go back to Tuchanka hoping Wrex would say, "*uck Tuchanka, let's kick ass!"

I think the "highs" of the original crew - Wrex, Liara, Garrus and Tali (the last two don't really count) - were much better than the new cast. The "lows" though - Kaiden and Ashley - rank much lower than most of the new characters. It's hard to say, though, because instead of Liara you've got Mordin, the ultimate bad***. Legion and Thane are both really interesting, too. But the worst new crew member isn't as dull as Kaiden or Ashley.  Wrex is Wrex.  He can't be topped.

So, the original crew had both the best and the worst characters. The new crew has a nice mix with no truly boring character (I think Jacob is a straightforward but fully realized guy, and I figure he's probably the worst of the new crew).  The supporting crew on the Normandy is also more entertaining.  Kelly - aside from coming on to everything with a pulse - is both helpful and provides interesting commentary.  EDI blows Pressley out of the water.  Joker is still his amazing self.  He's the Wrex of the non-party characters.

I prefer the ME1 crew. I gathered them along the way because they were swept up in events like I was. We went on a journey together. ME2 was just stale and mechanical, and outright forced you to pick up these people you really didn't know, nor did they have anything to do with events, excluding Mordin and Legion, who had everything to do with what was going on - Mordin and Legion are also the only two plot-centric characters that you pick up in a natural fashion (you're already aware that Mordin can make counter-measures against the Collectors, and you pick up Legion the same way you would have picked up any of your previous team mates in ME1).

Everyone else? Grunt, Samara, Miranda, Jacob, Thane, Jack? Pointless. No bearing on the plot whatsoever. Miranda and Jacob MIGHT have been relevant if, y'know, resurrecting Shepard would've had a point and all, but since it was swept aside for the sake of daddy issues, it's ultimately pointless as well.

ME1's squad mates were the worst squad BioWare has ever made. They were all boring as hell (except Batman)

Then why does the poll say those bland, uninteresting party members from NWN are the worst?
