I was under the assumption that an identified item would hold the same value for a merchant no matter who was selling it. However, I have a number of items all worth 1gp that get traded with a merchant: one PC gets the correct value and another gets a value of 0gp, which he obviously cannot trade with. Why does one PC get the right value and the other doesn't? Is there a feat or skill that modifies sell prices for a PC?
Item values differ by PC?

Appraise skill.

That's what I thought but my interpretation of the word 'appraise' undid me. Just because I think something is worth x doesn't mean a merchant will, too. But it seems the skill just modifies the value automatically (the merchant is somehow persuaded!). Anyway, thanks - I am using a script to get around that one. Cheers.

Presumably, having a better appraise skill will allow you more accurately determine the value of things which will allow you to negotiate better prices.
