Hi guys. I wanted to buy Mass Effect 2 for my PS3, but last time I've come up with some questions, I hope you can answer me:

1) Why did you officially declare about using a new graphic engine in this game, but in fact you changed nothing? Numerous comparisons in the internet indicate that this version has unstable fps, low resolution shadows, poor effects and so on.

2) Why all the DLC weren't included in blu-ray and they're distributed via the internet. Blu-ray doesn't have enough space for them? Why this game doesn't have a promised interactive comix, one of the most interesting and desired features? What customers without the internet should do in order to play the game with the DLC?

3) Why this version of Mass Effect 2 costs as a new game and version for X-Box 360 with all the DLC costs significantly less?

Thanks in advance.

here's my answer having just brought my copy today and playing it .....

1.) If they are using a new graphics engine for the PS3, I don't see it, in fact playing the PC ME2 version on my five year old core 2 PC with a ATI 5570 graphics card puts it to shame graphics wise...heck uncharted 2 actually looks better even heavy rain... now I'm WORRIED for Mass Effect 3! as they stated that THIS is the engine they are using for ME3!

2.) the Bonus content is NOT included in the PS3 Blu-ray Disk... IGNORE the packaging on the PS3, you have to download everything with the included Cerberus Network Card (what's funny is that the card only states you can download Firewalker/Zaeed and other equipment and NOT Kasumi, Lair of the shadow broker or Overlord and the interactive comic) SO if you have crappy internet connection think twice before purchasing if you're going to download all that BONUS content or should I say BOGUS? I'm sorry about the tone but I'm really pissed about it  :pinched: and you can see in my icons that I'm a very loyal Bioware fan :crying:

Agree, guy. EA and Bioware have deceived their potential buyers. They just do not care, because questions hang on a few hours here in the support services, and they simply ignore them. I do not like being led by the nose or throw, forcing a second time to buy the same eggs at the price of new items.

The comic is part of the Cerberus Network (which has to be downloaded, but is free if you buy it new since the new games come with the code to download it). This also includes the character Zaeed and his mission.  The other weapons, armor, and character outfit packs are other dlc that can be purchased and downloaded.

Kasumi, Overlord, and Shadow Broker (aka the main 3 add ons) ARE on the disk. You can play those right out of the box.

Kasumi, Overlord, and Shadow Broker on disk, I don't know were you guys get your info but I had the missions before I downloaded the pack.

As for graphics frame rate and screen tearing, this isn't the demo. The game graphics are better, not by much but they are. All reviews I saw says the same. no more screen tearing and frame rate is locked at 30. Shadows look more realistic. Get your fact straight people.

I agree, get your ducks in a row before you come on the forum and respond to potential buyers with false info.

Kasumi, Overlord, and Lair of the Shadow Broker ARE ON THE BLU-RAY DISC. They are there right out of the box, NO downloading and NO internet necessary. And ME2 is $29.99 USD on the 360, when you figure in the cost of the DLC on the PS3 you will be getting, it pretty much is the same price as buying the 360 version and purchasing all the DLC for it.

If you have doubts about buying it, then don't... but you would be missing out on the greatest gaming experience I've had period, and I have had lots of gaming experience since the original NES.

I have both versions (360 +PS3) and the PS3 graphics are better, the frame rate is smoother and the PS3 version does fix MOST of the clipping and tearing.

For the price, you'll it's pretty much the same:

on the 360

game: 29.99

Overlord: 7$

Kasumi: 7$

Lair of the shadow broker: 10$

Cerberus Pack (on PSN) 14.99$

total: 69.98$

I paid my game 59.99

Pretty sweet deal if you ask me

Loose the disc swapping, add fixes for quest and some of the 360 problems and you get your product. I'd say its better than most game released in the last... long freaking time

Even within the PS3 Digital copy Kasumi and other's are included within the Base Game download. Zaheed and Genesis are the only ones separate in the Cerberus download. Bioware did not fool anyone.

Thanks for the replies. But I was more upset by the lack of an interactive comic book, because on my 60 gb ps3 is simply no space and the Internet channel is very weak.
About the technical performance and cost -

About cost -
Xbox 360 - £12.14 ME2 + £16.50 DLC
PS3 - £38.79

After all, I think to buy Dead Space 2 instead of this game. Confine the version on the PC, or wait for lower prices / sales.

Gamespot

Frame rate hitches can get distracting. Some of the content is filled with technical issues.
This port isn't as impeccable as the game deserved.

Eurogamer

However, it is difficult to avoid the conclusion that the original Xbox 360 version of Mass Effect 2 has a performance advantage overall, especially during the exploration and combat sections.
We still see some examples of lower-precision shader effects on the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2.
Moving across to Blu-ray disc gives developers so much more storage that it's a bit of a shame that it is rarely utilised.
Technologically it still feels like the Xbox 360 version has the edge.
As you might expect from a game using the rendering underpinnings of Unreal Engine 3, Mass Effect 2 operates at native 720p with no anti-aliasing on the PlayStation 3. There are hints of 2x multi-sampling AA on the Xbox 360.
