When sent to look for Rawlings, you find that he had been killed but with compromising information on Cerberus still not decrypted. Shepard is given 3 choices: send it to Alliance, send it to Cerberus or keep the data for yourself and upload it to the Normandy.
Because I have not seen this thread and because my curiousity won't let it rest, what choice did you pick?
Reasons why are welcome but not necessary. Would rather not have a fight break out.

Alliance, i won't Support or Terrorists and will do everything i can to stop them and i have no intent of using it my self, for any good reason.

gave it to the alliance. If cerberus really is alliance, nothing will come of it. if they really are fighting against alliance, they will be hurt by it. winwin.

I think the best option is to keep it for yourself.
Either way I think their is a good chance Cerberus gets the data anyways

Cerberus of course.
Edit: Question is pretty much equivalent to "Do you like Cerberus?". And there were million of such threads.

Kept it. Giving it to the alliance just seems like a bad idea to me. It's Shepards job to unite the galaxy at this critical time not deepen divisions between factions. Giving it to Cerberus also seemed like a bad idea. I still don't trust them, and this info could perhaps be used to blackmail them if they ever decide to try and screw Shepard over. Or I could hand it over to the Shadow Broker...

Kept it. EDI then says it takes her over a year to decrypt.
If you send it to Alliance they say it takes them over 5 years to decrypt.
If you give it to Cerberus they say thank you.

I gave it to the Alliance. Hopefully that info will work to threaten them to stay out of Shepard's work or to stop causing trouble, maybe even disband Cerberus.

Kept it for myself cause I'm a greedy b*stard and I want all the Cerberus information I can get!

I sent it to the Alliance the first time around - I was freaked out by the "resurrection", and not for the possibility of it, rather how it was handled, so any connection to the SA made me a bit more at home - and after the initial cooldown and adjustment to the changed circumstances, left it with Cerberus.
Good thing we have multiple runarounds.

This depends entirely on the Shepard I'm playing if it's Nadia she sends the information to the Alliance. Sara and Rhi on the other hand keep the data for themselves.

Give it to Cerberus. I'm not going to backdoor the group that's bankrolling me to fight the Reapers. I value loyalty.

Thank you all for the replies. I kept it myself as well. One of the few choices that lets you put it on the back burner for now.

So, what you seem to be implying is that everything cerberus did, and does, is okay. As long as they do it because the Alliance orders them to?
Or did i completely misinterpreted?
Personally I kept it. Always good to keep some cards up in your sleeve.

I noticed the lack of an option to send the data to the Alliance, Cerberus and keep a copy for myself.
Btw, how does Shepard (or was it Anderson) know that the data can damage Cerberus if published if he hasn't decrypted it yet? Did they use cleartext file names? For all he knows the "incriminating data" could be a lolcat archive

Because the mercs were torturing the operative for Cerberus information. Any info given would severely damage Cerberus, being a secret organization and all (well "secret" as in, no one knows much about what the hell they do, who they are, etc).AlexMBrennan wrote...

EDIT: And I doubt the operative would give out lolcat details, gave me a good laugh though

Kept it, for the same reason that I kept Kenji's graybox data--to see what happens in ME3. At the very least, I expect that we will be given a choice if it does come to anything serious, but giving it to the alliance seems like a bad idea when we all need to unite, and destroying the graybox just seemed so cruel...especially when Kasumi has been so good at staying under the radar. Besides, who knows if you might need that information later!
