17, iv'e been playing DnD since I was 10 though...

... I recently found one of my first charectors, scary stuff, I had no idea what I was doing.

I think most kids in my generation tend to only play high-thrill action driven games like Halo or CoD, but most have at least heard of / tried Mass Effect or TES: Oblivion, so I suppose RPG's are not entirely forgotten.

Also, quiet suprised at all the over-40 players on these forums, not so shocked about the amount of 20-30 year olds though, most of my gamer / nerd friends are older than me.

40 and a bit of pocket change here... And those people saying: "You're too old to be gaming..." are essentially saying "You're old now, like me; you shouldn't be having fun anymore." In other words, they are very, very jealous. I'm a life-long gamer and very proud of it. :)

Yeah I know what you mean...  My son-in-law once said he was disappointed at my "Grandmotherly ways",  I climbed a tree so I could watch my granddaughter play soccer with a better view,  I work so don't have a lot of time to bake cookies, pies, etc...  but I know a good bakery,   and i challenge the kids to play games.  I guess he expected "Aunt Bea from the Andy Griffith show!  -  Ah well, my grandkids & great-grandkids think I am a "kool" grandma or GG as they say.  And on some MMO's I've adopted a few "grandkids" per their request. 41 here. Been alive to see video games evolve from very primitive beginnings.
Childhood friend's family had a "Pong" system, later an Atari 2600... we were poor so I only got to game at friends.
A Space Invaders game arrived at a neighborhood restraunt and there went all my paper route money.

Then the "golden age" of arcade games in the early 80s... it all seemed so exciting. Galaxian, Defender, Pac Man. Then some years later of course Nintendo blew away all the other home systems and you could play awesome games at home without spending quarters!

The first computer I owned was an Amiga 500 with a whopping ONE MEG of RAM! But for the time, did it ever have some awesome-looking games!

So now, here I am, still gaming and loving Dragon Age. It's amazing for me to think how far games have come and funny to tell people how I enjoy a game for "it's story." The look and sound of games can make such an immersive experience. It's also funny to listen to younger gamers complain about a games graphics. The old guy syndrome kicks in and I want to talk about how "in our day" game graphics were multi-colored clusters of squares moving around!

Of course!  He mainly plays Final Fantasy now.  And, as long as he takes his blood pressure medicine, he's fine.  That little incident was a reminder that the pills are necessary.

Seeing as there are so many of us here who started gaming pretty early on, if you're interested in taking a trip down memory lane, check out http://www.homeoftheunderdogs.net/

Just did a search and found my first RPG there. :o

Cool graphics.

I'm 39.

Not old, but not young. Wish they'd make a game that wasn't for kids, but it seems it won't ever happen.

Cheers.

I'm 22, been playing RPG's ever since I picked up Fallout when I was 14. Got to ask though, (a question for the older gamers) does anyone find it hard to make time for huge RPGs like this?

52, her...I didn't really start buying games until Diablo and Baldur's Gate, and then I played my sisters' copies first. I played a lot of shareware games, and vividly remember being excited when games moved from text to actual graphics! My younger sisters are both gamers, as are their daughters. I've no doubt my great nephew will be a gamer too, if he can wrest computer time away from his mother.

I'm 28, and I've been playing video games since Atari back in the 80's. Joust and Moon Patrol were my favorite games. Then of course Nintendo came out with Mario... and I've been in love with his mustache ever since.

BTW, doesn't this game have an M-rating? Why am I seeing 13 year olds on here? Disturbing.

I will be 52 in June. I started with Adventure back on an IBM 360 mainframe hooked to a terminal back in 1976. I played on and owned TRS-80, Apple II, MAC classic, ZX-81, Commodore PET, Vic-20 and 64. Atari 800, ST, several DOS and Windows PCs. CRPGs are my favorite games.

Yes, but I thought game retailers were not allowed to sell M-rated games to anyone under 17? Perhaps I'm wrong...

With all of the blocking technology, rating systems, and media attention out there, you'd think parents would be more active in keeping their kids away from adult-oriented video games, movies, television, and websites. Then again... the kids know the technology better than the parents.
