47 in 13 days. I think my wife wonders WTF is wrong with me being such a big kid sometimes. But hey, it keeps me young at heart. Can't say it does much for the aches and pains though...

Well, 30 something's and even 40 something's generally started playing video games in the early days of personal computers - I started with the C64 myself, and many started with the still earlier computers. At the time (got my first computer when I was 11) and when I was still playing at 16-17, I told my parents that gaming is simply changing the entertainment culture, and is not just for kids. I told them that by the time I was 30, or 40, or older, I'd still be playing, and I don't see any reason I'd stop. I also told them that the average age of gamers would go up as the generation that grew up with computer games reached adulthood, middle age and retirement age.

Looking at this thread, I think that was a correct assesment. I'm telling you, by the time my generation reaches 70, you'd better have retirement homes with gaming rooms, and not just TVs. B)

I am 43 years old and remember when Pong was the rage, kids used to come to my house, yes in the old days we actually went outside once in awhile. The first kid on the block to get an Atari 2600 went from geek to sheek over nite, and we actually walked rain or shine, to get to his house to hopefully get a chance to try it out. Of course this is when long distance phone calls were a family event reserved for a 20 minute time slot on Sunday night. But i also digress i do believe it is an age thing, heh heh you young whipper snappers will have your moments before you know it, the early bird special, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and off to bed, to get up early enough to get to the porch so we are ready to shake our fists at you as you walk by.

I will say that as an older gamer i have signifigantly more resources to throw at my gaming PCs than i have ever had in the past, but my game tastes are much more refined now which males it tricky to find quality games. No car payments,  no house payments, real cheap insurance, but most importantly NO KIDS EVER frees up alot of money for my gaming rigs.

32 tomorrow.

I had an Atari console when I was 4. Well, not really, my older brother had it more than me :P.

My first CRPG was Dark Heart of Uukrull in 1990.

I don't like d&d, but I've always loved RuneQuest and Call of Cthulhu. I still play RPGs with my high school buddies from time to time :).

28. Everything that I am is because of my mother and my older brother.

Though, I am no where NEAR the epic hardcore gamer that is my husband (29).

I also started with D&D a lifetime ago. But after playing Ultima III in 1988 on a friends IBM, I was hooked on computer games. I don't know how many hours I put into Pool of Radiance on my first "computer", a Commodore 64. Been a computer gamer ever since, though, though family, work, and other things take up a much larger portion of my time.

Oh my goodness..I remember Pool of Radiance too.   Played it on a computer,  a 286..8 mega bites of ram..or was it 16  rofl.    Lots of floppies to change.    Was my first computer game..1988.  :D

And...I am 50 +

Okay nobody have a heart attack alright? :D

I started with the pencil, paper, and dice D&D 34 years ago...and now I am looking to play the DA RPG in the same tradition...and on the computer, of course. I'd NEVER give up AlistairImage IPB, even if I have to play DA:O enough to know every line by heart...Image IPB

39 yrs old. Been playing since I was a teenager.

Now I have kids myself, though I my oldest is only 6 - she plays the flash games on the childrens BBC website. (Other parents might find that an age-appropriate place to let their kids look!)

Since this game is rated 18s in europe, I was surprised to see how _young_ some of the players are!

Oh, and I'm hearing about a bunch of retirement homes already putting Wiis in their rec centers, so by the time we get there I'm hoping for all sorts of good stuff.  After all, it's still a ways off for some of us!
