When i mentioned trophies i meant in-game trophies (you can view them in extras), not PSN ones.

Do the in-game trophies get you anything?

And can anyone confirm that Tawk.coms theory works with a corrupted career?

There is only one trophy for game completion, which gives +25% experience on your next playthrough as a reward. Still you have to complete ME2 first to get it, which is a bit problematic right now.

I still think that existance of corrupted data on disk can interfere with using backup files, made prior to corruption. Can't find other explanation on why one can use deleted save backup, and is unable to use corrupted file backup. But i understand that noone is willing to get rid off corrupted data file.

That's it! I can't wait any longer, I'm gonna go do Jacob's loyalty mission to top up my ME2 addiction for a while. Hopefully I'll be okay to not go on it for another day or two after that (when a patch comes in) wish me luck, touch wood!

I think one of the biggest warnings since they invented external memory is "turning off the machine while saving or loading will result in a corrupted file" i've been hearing this since the early 90's, so it seems to me like it should be expected to corrupt your save file if you have to reset while loading

You know, with how everything is connected online nowadays, all games should automatically back up game saves on online servers. So if they -do- corrupt, you can just access them from said servers. Portal 2 will be doing this if you connect your PS3 to steam, I'd really like to see more companies follow suit.

Ok, I'm pleased to report that I started up the PS3 and managed to play through LOTSB without problem (man was I bricking it). I'm not going to be playing for more than an hour at a time until a patch is released but at least now I can dip into the game.

I'm back, Jacob's mission was pretty good. Anyway it all went relatively smoothly.

There was a moment where the game froze when I returned to the normandy but after a few seconds the 'loading' disc popped up and I was back in game.

I have to change my trousers now.

Congratulations. I rather liked that mission too. It's the only one my girlfriend and I have disagreed in our opinions on; she wasn't a fan. Then again, she's no Jacob fan in general.

Hello everyone.

We are aware that a small group of Playstation 3 users are getting corrupted saves while playing Mass Effect 2. We are aware of the issue and we are working on a patch to fix it. This issue is caused by too many level transitions within a single gaming session. Players who play for an extended period may encounter this issue.

In the mean time, there is a very simple work around to prevent this issue. Simply restart your game every few hours. By shutting down and restarting your game, you will not encounter the corrupted save issue.

So take a break from Mass Effect2 by shutting down your game, say hello to your loved ones or take the dog for a walk and then restart and keep playing. :)

Not to be rude but how the heck did you miss a glitch that big? The texture colouring glitch I understand because it's not that obvious but you really didn't notice the game save crashes the game and the HDD? I'm going into games designing myself (so I'll probably come back crying at your feet in two years upon the sudden realisation of how made making a game is) so I don't want to come off as insulting becasue I knew if I get where I want to I'll be the one having to apoligish for a big mistake like this at one point or another.

It's just annoying because if it wasn't for the fact that you guys did such a brilliant job with this game I wouldn't be so pissed off with the prospect of not being able to play it. A lot of people seem to hate you for this glitch but that's just a sign that your game was awesome in the first place (otherwise nobody would care).

Ha! Wish my girlfriend played games with me. She isn't fond of them at all, but she is the only person I know who has completed GTA: San Andreas 100% (its the only game she's ever really played, bar tetris and the like) - I mean, who has the patience to do that?

Anyway the only real downside to Jacob's mission was that it was quite short- it is the only loyalty mission I've done though so it could just be standard length

Heh, I'm pretty lucky. Still, 100% on San Andreas? I see your point: you certainly have a devoted partner. I've never done that either.

The thing about the loyalty missions is that on the whole they are indeed shorter than the recruitment missions. Still, there are some longer ones than Jacob's. I've done all but four at this point and a few of them are a bit more involved. Some even shine some terrific light on the different alien cultures in ways that the rest of the game didn't focus on as much!

Great. I thought that after titles like Enslaved and Batman: Arkham Asylum, the Unreal 3 Engine finally has been conquered by developers on PS3, seems I'm wrong. The only good thing about the long delivery time for my overseas pre-order is that till it arrives the issues is hopefully fixed.

Man I am glad I went online before I played ME2 and found out about this problem. My game has frozen up 3 times but no corrupted save files and I have put in about 20+ hours already.  Now I don't know If I should chance it and play the game in short bursts (Play for an hour or less) or just not play it at all. I only own a PS3 and have ever since hearing that this title was coming to my system been excitedly  and patiently waiting for its release.

First off I want to say Thanks to Bioware and EA for releasing this game to the PS3. Ever since I saw the Launch commercial for the Xbox 360 version when it first came out I thought man I wish I had an Xbox to play this game. But I can't afford another Console or a gaming Computer, so hearing this coming out on my system got me pumped. Thank you despite the problems that you're having with this.

Please keep us updated on the Patch and let us know when it's coming. I am leaning towards not playing the game until it does. I was getting really immersed into the characters and story and I really don't want to put it down for a while but I really don't want to start over either. Mass Effect Withdrawls are going to suck.

And I hope that with this problem arising with this game on the Playstation 3 system that Mass effect 3 Won't have any similar issues.

I don't know if y'all have read yet but Bioware is releasing a patch to deal with the Corrupt Save issue. I read it on my G4 app today. Til then I'm backing up my save on my thumb drive. I back it up after every primary mission and loyalty mission. It took me a day to get to where I was before. So far the save data is still good.

I think the people who have had a corrupted save file and then try to load up a previous clean save file are failing because the actual game data is possibly becoming corrupt. I bet if users with corrupt data first deleted all game data and DLC from the PS3 and then reinstalled everything and copied their clean saved data back to the PS3 it would load up with no problems.

I wouldn't post anything if I didn't try this before hand. I have tried this and it does not work. As a matter of fact I tried this multiple times.

Random thought..You can copy it the save to another PSN account, maybe that could work as a backup?

Am I the only one who thinks this is all complete bullsh*t??!!.....I played one F***ING mission...played less than 90 minutes when my sh*t crashed....lost 15 hours....still not sure if I'm even willing to re-do all of that....especially when It's an RPG and you do a lot of mindless boring things like scanning to make the overall experience better. This is just ridiculous...I've been gaming for years and years, never have I been so p*ssed off.
