First time poster - I got the dreaded corrupted save. Unfortunately that forced me to look at these boards and realize it was a common problem - unfortunately too late. I had 25+ hours logged into the game - just finished Horizon and was stopping at Omega and Citadel to make some purchases before pursuing Doziers pt. 2.

In any event, just want to voice my frustration along with others over this glitch and disappointment that 1.) Bioware missed this in quality control 2.) Bioware didnt find a way to communicate in-game to gamers that their saves were at risk 3.) it has taken SCEA this long to approve a patch that was supposedly released 2 weeks ago.

This will affect my decision to buy another Bioware game - as great as the games are this is a truly monumental gaffe. A goodwill effort by Bioware (i.e. $ credit towards a future game purchase) for those affected by this would go a long way toward building back consumer loyalty. I dont have lots of gaming time so what I do have is precious and I am really let down that I pissed away so much time to have to start over (or give up on the game altogther).

Ok, I just played thru the first 4 -5 hrs of Me2 and I gotta say this game is awesome, however, I go to load my save game and the game freezes mid load and forces me to manually restart the ps3, now I try loading twice more with no success so I give up, a few hours later I delet old save file, start a new game and hey presto I'm off again from the beginning, (again) however I just now try to load my new file and it freezes at the main menu????????? Is it me or are there a few more bugs to this game than just a corrupt save file or two?

Freezes and a corrupted save file often go hand in hand, and you certainly aren't the only one with freezing issues.

I just leave a flash drive in the ps3, and every five saves or so, just copy the data to the flash drive. So now if it freezes, I only lose a lil time

Hello everyone. First i would like to express how much i loved Mass Effect 2. Being a PS3 owner i never had the chance to experience the first game and i must say this one totally blew me. I consider it a masterpiece of the RPG/Sci-Fi genre. I bought the game when it was released on the US (i live in Brazil) and i've been playing since. I'm working and studying all day so i only get the chance to play on weekends if i'm not traveling. I had 50+ hours played in my carrer, it was my first playthrough (except i created 5 characters because they never looked like i made then on creating screen). My "corruption" happened right after the derelict reaper mission, when you meet the geth sniper. I was thinking to myself "Miranda and Tali were a bad choice for this mission" and right after i'm done destroying the reapers core, the game jumps into the cutscene and freezes while loading. Alright, no big deal, just reset my console, right? When i come back, i find out i'm not able to pick my carrer anymore, none of my saves. Every crew member was loyal to me, i had every upgrade bought (until that point in the game anyway). I had pretty much every constelation or whatever 100% explored and this happens...

Bioware, i loved Mass Effect 2, and i can't express how frustrated i am with this. As i said i have very little free time and i was really putting effort in this, **** my 1st playthrough and i was on veteran!

I'm incredibly disappointed. I know sometimes things like this happens but...seriously. I was stunned by ME2, telling all my friend how this is awesome game and now i'm not sure if i will play it again. Right now i just wan't to sell it and buy something else, because even if i start again it won't be the same thing, i will have to do literally everything again.

I just hope this serves as a big lesson, the save mechanics are wrong (i had 10+ saves) and it ddnt helped me.

I'm feel very sorry for everyone that experienced this, i was totally into this game and now i have zero will to play it.

Sorry for the gramatical errors.

Rox Shepard, out.

gang, i have a good solution to the matter. there are enough of us that, combined, have put hundreds if not thousands of hours into this game, only to have our time spent destroyed by this bug.

class action suit - sue for pain & suffering/collateral damage. sure, they might fix the game and any future buyers of the game will get to enjoy it, but those of us that have wasted good portions of our daily lives just to have it chewed up and spit out as corrupt data - that kind of damage can't be undone. anyone know a lawyer?

Does it only happen on new game +? Anyway If it happens I'll deal with it. I beat Kotor 2 before the TSLRCM and most of the patches. bugs and corrupted saves games don't hit me as hard as they used to and bugs are a joke.

I have lost 35 hours of play, I was planing on playing the game again as renegade, but I wanted to finish it as paragon, so now, I just don't feel like playing again, I don't have much time to play, and I was dying to play this game for several months, so losing those hours just blew my bubble...

I just need to know if the pending patch will fix the corrupt save file or have I lost that save for good ?

I cant tell if youre joking or not... but Im pretty sure you arent.

Id agree with you if they werent going to fix the bug, but they are. And I do agree that Bioware needs to give me something back for the 30 hours of my life they took. But I was thinking along the lines of some free DLC, I think suing is going a bit too far.

I understand where you are coming from though, but I dont think I would be able to sue the makers of such a great game, I just hope the developers learn from this experience and this never happens again.

First time poster too... and yeah, my save-game also got corrupted.

For my part, I´m not angry, I´m just sad. I love the game but this definetly is a game-breaker. How can you implement a save-system like this in 2011? In DAO my save got corrupted that one time, but hey: back to Auto-Save - no problem.

So here´s some information:

1> where the crash occurred that caused the save to become corrupt (ie loading from Horrizon to the Normandy or Right after the fight with the Yahg):

Like for most, it happened right before the Speeder-chase in the Shadow-Broker-Mission

2> How many levels in a row you played beforehand (Ie you played through the prologue through to Horizon in a single sitting):

Don´t remember exactly, maybe 2 or 3

3> How long you were playing concurrently beforehand (ie you had the game running for 40 hours straight without rebooting the console):

About 4 hours

Additional info:

My corrupted save-game also says "A0006"

Been in the game 30+ hours, just want to know if the patch´ll do anything to the corrupted file, or if I´ve to restart from my 15-hours-save, which I made by pure coincidence.

Well Jesse Houstan add me to the list of people who just experienced this and learned about it for the 1st time after 35+ hours of game play  a crash then a corrupt save file. I had 4 game saves but the fact they where all stored in the same block on my PS3 means I'm screwed.

1 - My crash occured  loading  from the Normandy down to a planet ( cant remeber which ) but it was porably one of the side charcter quests. I think it was Grunts loyalty quest.

2 - I play only a few hours a day and not everyday  because I have a busy life and not an enormous amount of play time.

3 - I had been playing maybe 3 hours or less  that day

Now I have my own question:

- Will this patch of yours fix the corrupted game save.

It's very unlikely that a patch will magically fix saves that are *already* corrupt. BioWare has already stated in the past that they've fixed the bug that causes save corruption.

"Unlikely" may be right, but I want a statement like "No never!" from Bioware. It´s as simple as that.

Okay, corruption lost has been "confirmed" by Bioware here:

This happened to me today.
Glad it was not my main file.
I cried, though. ;-;

Oh, but let me be helpful.
The game froze while loading.
I was in Ilium, and the loading was due to Thane's recruitment mission.
I played nonstop, from the prologue to this mission.

So i restarted my PS3, and there: corrupted file.
I tried getting it back through the safe mode, but couldn't.
And I tried three times.

Also, I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but.
I imported my Shepard from another ME2 save file.
I remember having more fuel and probes than my Normandy was capable of.
Maybe that ended up screwing up my save file?

I had this happen to me today. I have played over 20 hours and I only have this one character. I was just getting ready to do a car chase on the Shadow Broker Mission and during the loading screen the whole PS3 froze. I had to restart the PS3. When I come back the only options are New Game or Extras. Resume and Load is gone. Funny thing is I go into PS3 saved utility and There are two mass effects slots there. One is corrupt the but other seems fine... Just the GAME cant see it. Really don't want to start all over...

First time poster.

I'm very upset right now as I just got ****blocked by the corrupted save file... This is my second play through and I was using a New Game + File... Please fix this I love this game and even though I'm pretty distraught right now I'm still going to start another game up... I really don't want this happening again so I guess I"ll be rebooting often and backing up my save files.. and here I thought I was being clever this time around with my multiple save file... *sigh*

Specifically if you can say:
1> where the crash occurred
that caused the save to become corrupt (ie loading from Horrizon to the
Normandy or Right after the fight with the Yahg) Just after speaking to Seryena about Thane about to go to the buildings.
2> How many levels in a row you played beforehand (Ie you played through the prologue through to Horizon in a single sitting) Derelict reaper to starting of thanes mission with no subquests inbetween.
3>
How long you were playing concurrently beforehand (ie you had the game
running for 40 hours straight without rebooting the console)
I believe it was about 6 hours?

Oh and I had about just over 20 hours of game play..

Yet another first time poster. :P Here's my contribution...

Specifically if you can say:

1> where the crash occurred that caused the save to become corrupt:

Right before fighting the Thresher Maw during Grunt's loyalty quest.

2> How many levels in a row you played beforehand:

None, I had fought the Klixen. That's it; I loaded a save file from my last time playing where I had saved during the Rite of Passage quest, right after the Varren wave. Started up, hit the keystone and fought the Crawlers. Hit it again, game froze during auto-save.

3> How long you were playing concurrently beforehand

Approx. 15 minutes?? >_<

1.  I had just finished my first interaction with commander williams after fighting of the collectors for the first time.  We finished the interaction and the game froze during the loading screen which would take me back to the ship.  I lost 15hrs how game play. It erased the saved file i was playing but left the one i wasn't playing on intact (the one i wasn't playing was at the begining or the game, 45 mins into it). My Trophies were not erased.

2. I don't remember exactly, perhaps 2 with some probing missions.

3. I was probably playing between an hour to two hours. I had played once more duing the day for about the same amount of time but I let the console rest a good 5-6 hours.

Hope this helps!

Alright....I saved my game at Atlas station on Aite, after going down the elevator.

When I turned my PS3 on again this morning, I got as far as the Title page, and then it's frozen.  I can't resume, play a new mission, load a save, or even connect to the EA server.

My total gameplay was about 40 hours, but I had only played about 60 minutes when I shut the system down yesterday evening.

My controller works fine, I can load and run my other PS3 games.

Do I need to completely uninstall the game, reinstall it and start over?  B/C I'd rather not do that....

I experienced a loss of a save file. In the middle of a "bypass" the game controls started to lag and when I wanted to save the game afterwards I couldn't find my save file. I small glitch I thought, but when I started the game the next day I realised that the save game number was "1", instead of over 30. I didn't loose any play time, but still odd and a little disturbing.
