Lost my data as well, after about 30 hrs in no less. Froze at a loading screen, had to hard reboot and then it was gone. I have a new slim, and I don't have any other games freeze on me. I really liked this game but now I wish I could return it.

the problem is, all of the ps3 saves are put into one file.

So u can save 10000 times and have auto saves.

Its all in same file.

one gets corrupted all gets corrupted.



Im pissed.

Any remedy?

everytime you save move the file to a USB.

Glad I'm not the only one.  I was about 7 hours into mine when it happened.  This game is too phenomenal for me to be pissed.  I think after playing through the horribly bugged Fallout New Vegas, I can tolerate anything.

Grrr... It just corrupted my save too. Is this happening to a lot of people who just bought the PS3 version? I had just finished recruiting Thane and my game froze on the loading screen taking me to the Normandy. The game had already frozen on me like 5 times. So I restarted my PS3 it only gave me an opition to start a new game. This was very disappointing. All those hours put forth for nothing. Does anyone know if Bioware or EA plan on releasing a patch for this. This is the only game it's done this for so I know it ain't my PS3. Come on Bioware/EA don't let us Mass Effect fans down.

iam having a similar problem and this problem hasnt even let me play
the game, when it asks me to install i do it but it freezes, theres no
particular percent of the install that it freezes on but it does, then
if i try to quit game it will freeze an not take me back to the xmb, so
i have to turn it off, when i turn my ps3 back on in the 'Game' section
of the xmb it will have 'corrupted data', iam not sure if its the game
or my ps3 but  is anyone else having the same problem?

The same thing has just happened to me and I was 30+ hours into the game.

This happened to me as well. If you turn "Auto Save" off would that fix the problem? I want to play but starting over and getting back to where I was before only to have it freeze again will ****** me off

 I had the same issue last night. I was about 32 hours into the game and I was on the loading screen right after you hop in the sky car in the shadow broker mission.

The load screen locked up, the music was still playing and everything but nothing happened. I was about 5 mins and then restarted my system. The save file was corrupted and I was only presented with the option to start a new game.

Seeing as Bioware does not have the ability to fix the corrupted data, would Bioware please at least release a patch that makes the loading screens run smoother or like the one guy said, remove the copy lock on the save so I can make a backup on a USB drive.

For those saying it is the PS3 users fault, I have never had this happen on my 360. I'm sure some people have, but for this to happen to so many people it sounds like a PS3 specific issue. I've only had 2 freezes on my 360, and one was due to an Xbox Live problem.



Hopefully BW gets it sorted for you guys. Just take a break until it gets fixed. It's a great game, I promise.

I can't imagine a patch that seperates the saves being too difficult to make. Obviously the game shouldn't be freezing like this anyway, but at least if the saves were seperated I wouldn't lose EVERYthing.



As for right now I'm playing with autosave turned off, it's a serious pain in the ass, but the data shouldn't be able to get corrupted.

I sent EA an complaint on their support page so this can be resolved and patched as quickly as possible. I urge you all to do the same thing, flood them so they get on this. If you read the initial thread for this board, they say this is community help and Bioware employee's are not guaranteed to be checking this.

I've just experienced my first corrupt save. I have the PS3 60gig that plays PS2 games. I played about 20+ hours and unlocked 30% of the trophies. I was heading back to the ship and notice the game was loading. I got up and grab a coke. Came back to the game and I notice the load icon wasn't moving. 2 mins passed by. I did a soft reset and notice NEW GAME on the menu. I quit the game and checked my PS3 saves. I saw all my other saves with 60+ FFXIII saves, 30+ Fallout saves and one corrupt save. I went to see the details of that file and it was MASS EFFECT 2 save file..corrupt. I just emailed support my story. If I don't get a resolution for this drama I'm gonna return the game or turn it in for store credit. =\\

Wow only 8 hrs huh? I got the same thing after about 40hrs not including breaks for eating and such.I suggest being careful if ur gonna play shadow broker and help Liara it might happen again.

Did everyone reported the problem to EA's customer service?



I think the forum is only for us to help each other and reduce the amount of customer service request they get.



The customer service guy told me than I won't be able to get my save back.



He also told me that they only adress problems if enough users got them (by reporting I guess or maybe when we get a refund).

wow this is sucks. if Bioware will keep ignoring this threads, i think i will cancel my order and wait.

They have not been ignoring the threads, Jack Lamden has replied in the freezing thread stating that the QA testing guys have been notified and that they are keeping an eye on the threads. However it has been a while since the last reply and I would also like some information regarding the release of a patch of some sort.



My copy has already been bought and since I am away studying a friend of mine in the US mailed it to me and its already on its way. I really hope at least by the time it gets her that everything is streamlined. It would be very difficult for me to mail back the copy.



I bought ME on PC in preparation for ME2 on PS3 and even though I do not favour PC controls I finished it and did enjoy the story and am now a big fan of the ME universe. Really someone from Bioware please answer even if its a timeframe of a patch release.
