Unfortunetly it seems that making a backup on flash drive won't help. One of fellow players lost his save. He can use backups of his other saves, but not the corrputed one. What i want to say is that he can't load a backup of character-save he lost. All the other backups work just fine. So it looks like corruption goes deeper than carrier save and backups do work when you delete your save and want to recover data, but not when file gets corrupted. I am lost.

 That's it, then.  I'm officially done playing this game until a patch comes out.  As it stands, the game was officially engineered to be downright evil.

shadow broker, right before skycar, 30h of gameplay, now it;s gone.
I've noticed that in information we have one same thing...

so maybe it;s fixable, maybe we will have our saves restored? We are all playing connected to EA servers, so they have to have all the data we need to restore those files.

have you tried reinstall whole game? Please do so, because I've already lost 30h of game and don't wanna relive it again :/

I have been waiting for this game since the summer....

How can you make RPG with one save file ?

This was one big slap from BioWare for all ps3 users.

I am lucky and have had no such problem with corruptions! I just completed the Lair of the Shadow Broker quest and had no problems with it! (Knock on wood) Sorry that you guys are having problems with it!

When you guys have this issue, is the career still listed if you go into the Load menu and press the triangle button (switch careers).

If it is listed, can it be selected?

And if it can be selected, are your saves for the career repopulated in the menu?

Nope the load option is not visible just: New Game and Extra.

Profiles are not corrupted just the career that houses all game saves for that paticular career. So the game dosent recognise that you have played it before, or that you had any sort of save game.

I have been playing for almost 40 hours, and my game froze about 4 times throughout my campaign. I maintain a rotating set of 4 saves plus the Autosave feature. Every time my game froze, I simply hard re-booted my PS3 (older 80 GB model from 2008), and I continued playing my game with everything I achieved safe and intact.

What year and size of PS3 is the most prevalent model for the corrupted saves other players are experiencing?

Mine is a 250GB slim bought few months ago. I got a corrupted save after a hand full of crashes, the last time it stayed on loading for 3-5mins before i gave up that it will load as music switched itself off. Then I start up after resetting on slim (press power button) and entire career with 4 saves in it corrupted....

Original 60gb PS3 here with a 160gb HD fitted. Crashed on travelling to the assassins mission the 2nd time my save was corrupted. First crash and corruption was travelling from liara's place on the same planet following 8 hours of play.

I belive I was on my way to pick up thane too, in sky car with loading screen (spent a lot of time doing side quests and other squad member loyalty missions til then)

1> where the crash occurred that caused the save to become corrupt (ie loading from Horrizon to the Normandy or Right after the fight with the Yahg)

2> How many levels in a row you played beforehand (Ie you played through the prologue through to Horizon in a single sitting)

3> How long you were playing concurrently beforehand (ie you had the game running for 40 hours straight without rebooting the console)

No it's gone completely.

All that is there is my original playthrough, which will now be staying untouched until a patch appears.

The other character is only viewable via the 2 corrupt saves on my PS3 saved games folder.

I had 2 crashes both almost at same point. When I finish the 3th mission in which i have to find the doctor in the quarantine zone in Omega.
After I return to the ship the first time crashed during auto save, the second when I entered the menu to save the game!

Both times the console was runnig for about 5 hours straight...

The first crash occurred after leaving liara's appartment, the second crash was after leaving for the towers to get thane. Both resulted in corrupted saves.

Unsure how many levels the first time but today had played every main mission and no side missions up to the first proper encounter with the collectors.

First time the console had been on for around an hour. Second time around 4 hours. Console has no problems with any other games with freezing other than Fallout New Vegas, but less said about that the better.

1> As I got into the skycab during the Shadow Broker mission for Liara, during the loading screen the freeze occured (same as most others here).

2> I did the mission aboard the Collectors ship, then the missions to recruit both the Assassin and the Justicar, then went onto the mission to help Liara (so 3 complete "missions" but on only 2 different "worlds/levels").

3> About 5 hours. Hard to tell, but substantially less than usual.


Also maybe worth noting, I had about 30-35hours into my game, I am not using any modification software/hardware, or unlicenced products, my PS3 has never had this issue with any other game ever, the disk is in 100% condition with no scuffs, scratches, or smudges. My PS3 is also fully uptodate with the most recent version.
Unacceptable.

there is no trace of previous saves.
strange thing is that when you start new career you gain bonuses from achievements (i could get extra power) - I dunno is it based on saves or trophies I made.

1 > at the loading screen just after my team splits and jump into skycar in Lair Of Shadow Broker. First there were no sound and the I had to reboot my ps3. you know the rest.

2 > many. I did couple loyalty missions (mordus, grunt, garrus, miranda, subject zero, kasumi). I went to check out ghost ship and after they wanted me to go for IFF something I didn't. Instead I choose to explore space and did some sub-miisions on planets. really hard to say but I played at least 5 hours straight. And I just remembered that in that siting I recruited Assasin and Justicar - that's why I decided to finish Broker - to have full team

3 > 8 hours maybe? I haven't had any problems at all (not to mention low res textures in Overlord). Game runs flawless for me. It just died in Shadow Broker.

That's all that crossed my mind for now. Hope you will fix it. I really want to experience full Mass Effect 2 without side effects. Because you guys made really epic game. It's shame to miss it.

ahhh and I run first generation 40gb with different hdd but didn't have any problems before (not to count New Vegas and Bug Ops)

Out of general interest and idle curiosity while I'm waiting for the game to be patched which may be some time. Just what is the thinking behind keeping all the in game saves in a single file? Just curious as to how much alcohol was consumed before coming up with the idea and whether I can get a sneaky application in for the persons job when it becomes available

Well, this problem has been discussed on our Polish ps3site forum with several ideas.

Some ppl confirmed ( including me ), that playing offline doesnt corrupt the saves, even if the grame crashed itself few times during my first playthrough.

Hope it helps somehow.

Nope. His game crashed just before car chase during LoSB. He got backup files of his savegame file made prior to crash and still couldn't load them. This is how he described it. I really don't know the details apart from that he owns PS3 Slim 250 GB, and he was signed in PSN when crash occured.
