The long loading times are annoying. Unlock the frame rate to 60 fps.
Fix the long loading times and unlock the framerate.

I don't think they can unlock it to 60fps. The 360 version is locked at 30fps. I'm guessing the best they could do is a variable framerate. But they're not going to do that.

So how is this "the definitive version" then? The graphics are the same as Xbox using a newer engine. The only difference is lighting changes. The PS3 has lots of potential, look at Uncharted 2 and God of war III.

There's only so much you can do with Unreal Engine 3. Even Epic, who created Unreal Engine 3, only have Gears of War running at 30fps. Gears 3 will be 30 fps too.
Naughty Dog use a custom engine for Uncharted, Santa Monica Studio use a custom engine for God of War. They're also first-party devs and have the luxury of having direct access to Sony and their engineers.

I read this earlier today. Seems disabled v-sync allowed higher framerate but cause screen tearing. V-sync was re-enabled for the final cut to fix the screen tearing as it seems it was more significant than framerate.

I am curious as to why the face creation was a bit laggy.

From all accounts that I've heard, the game looks better in 30fps. Gives it a more cinematic feel, like a movie as apposed to a television show. Film usually runs at a slower fps than stuff shot for TV. At least thats the explanation I've heard.

So basically the unreal engine 3 is maxed out and the developers need the unreal 4 engine. From what I am understanding the Mass Effect 3 engine just basically enables Bioware to tweak things a little more. Eurogamer.net showed some great comparisons with the demo vs final copy for PS3.
Why doesn't Sony have some engineers work with Bioware to make Mass Effect 3 to perfection? The game has so much more potential on the PS3.

It definitely shows no one cares. Forces gamers to buy both systems.

Major difference sir. Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 use propriety engines specifically designed and built to work on the PS3 architecture. Mass effect 2 on the PS3 uses a modified version of the Unreal Engine 3 that has been notoriously difficult to get to work properly on the PS3. It’s actually very amazing they got it to work on the level they it does given the past history of this engine on this platform.
As far as for the whole “definitive version” then it was really just a marketing ploy in order to make PS3 owners feel like they are getting the better version when in truth is about the same as the 360. Frankly it can’t be the definitive version given that PS3 owners will never ever get to play the first game seeing how MS owns the publishing rights for that one.

To Morducai:
The most interesting question is how will Mass Effect 3 run or be any better? Apparently the frame rate is locked at 30 fps. I think it would be great if Sony would help Bioware fine tune Mass Effect 3 so it runs at its best on the Unreal engine 3.

I don't think BioWare will get Sony to help them. That would mean paying Sony money for the time they are giving them. I think ME3 will have the usual differences between the consoles. EA has enough talented programers that understand PS3 architecture. Look how they got Dead Space 2 to look the same on both consoles but then again it’s a different engine.kingkranz wrote...

Dead Space 2 looks real impressive. As you said the unreal engine 3 just doesn't work well with the PS3. Bioware does have a very talented team and I hope they can perfect the Mass Effect 3 engine for Mass Effect 3. They are definitely trying. The frame rate is locked at 30 fps, without the option varying it between 30 and 60 fps?
