OK well to start this off i dont want this to turn into a full on argument b ut it probably will. I seriously believe everyone should stop preasuring BioWare into making co-op or multi-player, if then going to put it in then fine but their main priority should be the campaign so stop making assumptions that there is going to be  co-op or multi-player. It's the last game it should all be about campaign.

Anyway im just stating my opinion and many other people's veiw on this matter.

Dude, I completely agree with you 100%.  Multiplayer is something that does NOT belong in Mass Effect 3 and it would be a waste of BioWares' time, money and patience into tacking it into the game.  Mass Effect 3 (and the Mass Effect series as a whole) was built from the ground up as an epic single player experience and it should remain as such.

And to everyone else out there that disagrees,  MULTIPLAYER DOES NOT HAVE TO BE IN EVERY GAME!!!  Just because a legendary series such as Mass Effect won't have multiplayer does not mean the end of the fricking world!  There is nothing wrong with single player only games!

lol, all your talk is for noting, Bioware already started working on it, assets, AI programming etc, and you think they just going to stop because you said no to it, this must have been the works for a while, i don't think they are just going to scrap all that work. me i really don't care, i have seen great games that were single player only turn into a co-op for the sequel and turned out to be very bad and took away everything that made the fun, but then there games like Demon's souls that turned out to be amazing because of co-op and PvP, i think it is all comes down to the dev and how much they put into it.

Everyone? I rarely see people (on these forums at least) asking Bioware to make the game multiplayer.

if there is multiplayer, I sadly will not be getting the game. It will prove that Bioware's lost the insentive to make the best game ever for the sake of good times, not just money.

its in the Mass Effect 3 Confirmed Features Thread V2, also there had a job listing for some time in may last year stating

"We are working on Mass Effect, one of the industry’s most acclaimed and
beloved franchises… Multiplayer programmers ensure the game engine and
game systems work reliably and efficiently in a multiplayer environment.
They… take existing single-player user experiences and make them
multiplayer safe."

so from what i gather they have been working on this for a year, if it co-op outside the single player game then it should be hard to do, or take up time to do, all they would have to do is take a map from the single player, add enemies 3 players per game, and you fight wave after waves of enemies, could be fun, if it co-op for the mian single player game, that could cause some problems.

i think EA is making them do this, the first Dead Space didn't have any MP, and it did great, but now the second game has it when there really isn't any need for it, people who buy Dead Space buy that game for the single player, and if you have seen the MP gamplay for that game it looks stupid and boring, while the single player mode looks amazing, blows my mind, i am not passing jugement until i see the MP and single play modes for ME3, that just dumb thing to say something like i am not buying the game when you haven't seen any footage of the game, what if it turns out like Demon's souls, that game is amazing, it like a mini mmo, if Bioware can pull off a gam like that then ME3 will truly be the greatest game this genaration.

Generally the ones who want it most are some fancy suits at EA who are looking at game sales more than a good gaming experience.

I would never play it, but I think a Co-op would work well. Obviously, one person is always Shepard, but two people could take control of your other two squad-mates. It doesnt sound too particularly time consuming either.

Yeah dude.  I wouldn't mind it if it was done right, but in all honesty I hope there isn't any since it will likely do more to tarnish the experience then enhance it.

Whether or not ME3 will have multiplayer was probably decided long before any of the debate about it got heated, and even if it didn't, I doubt that the debate would affect their choice one way or the other.

Might work for the Xbox crowd, but past experience with other MP PC games that revolve around a main individual rather than a party tends to be very boring for the other players, as they often dont have computers in the same room, or are facing away from each other, and thus miss out on the conversations with the main.
Even Bioware has suffered from this, ask anyone who tried a Lan party for Baldurs Gate.

I was more thinking it could be played amongst friends(online likely) and they would decide what to do beforehand, whether they are skipping the story or not, and who controls Shepard.  I think this would be for people who want to experience the gameplay together, not the story.  Baldur's Gate Co-op does sound pretty boring, but I think just the simple nature of ME2 being a shooter twitch game would make co-op more fun, not to mention the fact that you dont really have pause and play and have complete control over your party like Baldur's Gate

It's not a confirmed feature. It's listed in that thread as a rumor.

And I don't recall that job posting mentioning Mass Effect.

Why would you assume it would work like that?  Why not make it part of a separate co-op campaign featuring a different cast of characters?

Do it like Dragon Age Awakening or Halo: ODST but instead, include it packaged with the main game or as a "Day 1: DLC" for an additional price.

I think your suggestion is everyone's hang up.  Don't shoe-horn multiplayer into the main campaign.  Make a separate campaign that tells a complementary story.  For example: have it feature "Big Ben" from the trailer along with a ragtag group of Human resistance fighters on Earth while Shepard's out in the rest of the galaxy recruiting the rest of the races for the upcoming war.

I agree, bioware has no idea how to make a combat system.  Their only strength is storylines, that's it.  They should stay with what their good at and leave co-op & multiplayer combat to the pros.
