Law of the Internet.
This game is going to suck.
This game is going to be awesome.
Wow, you're right. It takes a whole 5 characters less to complain about a game then it takes to praise. Amazing work there, can't believe I've never realized that before.
(In case you haven't gotten it yet, I'm making fun of your notion that it's easier to complain then to praise. It's incredibly easy to mindlessly support something just as it's incredibly wasy to mindlessly bash something).
gosh. you hurt my feelings. boo hoo
I guess my point was missed. Im not the most elequent person in the world. I guess what i meant was, it is so much easier to find flaws in something than something good for most people, especially if one already has preconcieved notions about it.
no need to make fun to make your point however

This. Also, some people who loved DA:O are just upset that it won't be more of the same plus fancier graphics and small fixes to gameplay. Just the normal knee-jerk reaction to change. Don't worry, I can almost guarantee that many of those who are protesting will quite willingly eat their words once they've actually played the game, gotten used to the changes and found new things they like.
It's BioWare, they will deliver.
Or they will do what any unsatisfied consumer will do, and NOT buy the game...Most of my friends that played DAO say they are not buying this game because of the "new" direction, and Im sure alot of the people on youtube that are complaining about it, well they will take a pass on it as well.
No Company is perfect, including BioWare, to follow them blindly is just silly.

A sentiment I agree with, but if they are refusing to purchase the game just because of the changes then it's more fool them, I admit I dislike change, but I also enjoy variety, DA:O is great for several play throughs but now I would like something different.Night Prowler76 wrote...

I agree with you, variety can be a good thing, i will wait to see the reviews on this game before I make up my mind, some of the comments from the writers have really put off alot of people, there is alot of competition this year in the RPG market, if BioWare thinks they are going to release a RPG thats going to be 20 hours and under, with less dev time, less customization, and less dialogue via the ME wheel, and most likely, less replay value than its previous installment, alot of consumers just wont buy it.
I personally will not spend 60 bucks on a game that short, it took alot longer to make DAO than the time they have slapped together DA2, and they dont even plan to release larger DLC for DA2, so I just dont understand why anyone would buy this game at launch, its just not worth full price, to me anyways.
I mean, ME2 on the XBOX 360 looks better than DA2 on the PC, what does that tell you about the teams developing the 2 games.

People always ***** when a game has a sequel.
Pretty much this, except when it looks exactly the same as the original. When New Super Mario Bros. came out, people were complaining that it was just cashing in on the franchise. Which makes utterly no sense in context of the series, but that's besides the point.
If time machines existed, the only negative criticism of stuff would be rational.
That and people don't like to be wrong, and fear that they might be if the product is actually good. So, at th same time, rational criticism can become irrational criticism.
Other times, people have an idea of how something is made, and because they don't understand the logistics of such a thing, they get annoyed when someone in authority tells them "no, this is how it goes". A lot of outsiders view the insider as their "buddy", and don't understand when their "buddy" doesn't think the same way they do (i.e. the Fenris/Tali/etc. thread to some of the dev comments that it is getting creepy).
There are tons of reasons why people on forums "hate" something.

Wasn't meant as anything more then a sarcastic little jab, didn't mean it to be taken as something offensive if thats the vibe you got. Just found your wording to be silly. And you hit it with your last sentence there, preconcieved notion, has nothing to do with anything being easier. People go in thinking what they will, not because one way is particularly any easier then the other.

Unless, you know. It's changes they legitly don't like and if there's enough of them then they've got plenty of reasons not to buy a game. Why buy something that's designed in a way you're not going to enjoy?

Or maybe they just plain don't like it, no sir. And this being the Internet, that means they get to stand on the corner and tell you about it. A lot. Because that's cooler than kissing the Man's butt.

Okay!
We've got Bioware, they make good games following a pretty standard formula that doesn't get worn out due to new settings and characters each time they reiterate said formula. It's good! I like it, anyway.
So they make this game, seminal RPG Dragon Age: Origins and it was well recieved across the board. Critics loved it, fans enjoyed it, and due to some pervasive marketing(saying nothing about it's quality) people who ordinarily don't play RPGs picked it up. It was good, and a sequel was a forgone conclusion.
So Bioware, having this terrific product, decides to do something they've never done before with the sequel. They decide to make a Dynasty Warriors game with branching dialog. Wait. What? Why would they do that? Details come out, a sketchy combat video in a barren landscape is shown many times. With each detail released more features are removed. You no longer determine your character's origin. They're copying the Mass Effect dialog system wholesale. You mash the attack button to kill things and that works fine. Smaller number of locations. Smaller game size. Less hours. More micro-transactions.
Pretty much every feature that made DA:O a unique throwback to the olden days of RPGs has been streamlined away. This worked for Mass Effect because it's a product of the current generation, it wasn't trying to ape something an older game already did. So it went along it's path just fine. I heard ME3 is going to return some features that were removed. Consider that! How nice!
However people who purchased DA:O and enjoyed the experience are going to find something entirely different in DA2. Will they enjoy the experience, considering that it retains very little in common with it's predecessor? Time will tell, but my personal bet is on a resounding "no".
A big strike against the game for me is seeing them cut content and put it in as preorder DLC. Whole shops worth of content are now exclusive preorder DLC, that other people will have to purchase later. Isn't that kind of shameful in anyone's eyes?
And finally let me tell you about this community as opposed to the internet at large. This is a weird little commune, a bastion of people who really really like Bioware, and have a burning desire to have intimate relations with their video game characters. "Talimancers", for gods sakes. How embarassing. The lead writer of DA2 has said this desire is a little creepy and goes overboard sometimes, and coming from him that means a hell of a lot. Now the internet at large is composed of a lot of mindless vitrol and hate for no real good reason. However stop for a moment. Compare the general sentiment towards DA2 to the one for ME3. People are genuinely excited about that game, not too many are hateful. It doesn't fill people with a sense of foreboding and like maybe they shouldn't be playing it around their families.
Hold on hold on. Stop frothing at the mouth. Put down that mountain dew. Drink some water and calm down. Think about what I've said here. Evaluate it. Never post on these awful forums again. Go outside. Improve yourself. Stop finding video game characters attractive. it's weird.
I'm sure you'll follow your own weird little tubes of logic to whatever conclusion you please though. Can't say I didn't try.

And pay no mind my own sarcasm. I was ambushed by 2 Mormon missionaries on my way back from class and felt very snarky.
