And finally let me tell you about this community as opposed to the internet at large. This is a weird little commune, a bastion of people who really really like Bioware, and have a burning desire to have intimate relations with their video game characters. "Talimancers", for gods sakes. How embarassing. The lead writer of DA2 has said this desire is a little creepy and goes overboard sometimes, and coming from him that means a hell of a lot. Now the internet at large is composed of a lot of mindless vitrol and hate for no real good reason. However stop for a moment. Compare the general sentiment towards DA2 to the one for ME3. People are genuinely excited about that game, not too many are hateful. It doesn't fill people with a sense of foreboding and like maybe they shouldn't be playing it around their families.
Hold on hold on. Stop frothing at the mouth. Put down that mountain dew. Drink some water and calm down. Think about what I've said here. Evaluate it. Never post on these awful forums again. Go outside. Improve yourself. Stop finding video game characters attractive. it's weird.
I'm sure you'll follow your own weird little tubes of logic to whatever conclusion you please though. Can't say I didn't try.
Hmm. It's a nice first effort, but I don't think you managed to be pretentious and condescending enough.
More arrogance! More smug superiority!
Come on man, go the distance! Live the dream.
I know! It's like he isn't really feeling it. He needs to get into the role and become the part he was supposed to play. The people are expecting MOAR!
Oh, and welcome to our "weird little commune." You are officially a member of our society. "We love Bioware" meetings are 6pm-11pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The group about attractive video game characters meets in the break room at lunch(The Talimancers have their own clique, don't expect to be able to sit with them without proving your love for Tali), and the bathroom is down the hall to the left. Enjoy your time with us.

They turned it into ancient mass effect, no more exploration, limited customization, terrible dull companions, and "hawke" is irrelevant to established DA lore. all in all its going to fail terribly (except on ign and gamespot and other places they buy off for a dishonest review) seriously the game has been in development for like a year and they said themselves it would be "LOL LONGER THAN AWAKENING" which was an expansion. so pretty much this is a glorified expansion that is being sold for $60 so EA can make more money
And we have another alt -- or is it the same one?
Edit:.... hmm; not. Punctuation is too much worse this time around.

So if the game scores well from most publications and sites, then they will have all been bought off by EA, because there is no way Dragon Age 2 could be good?Emissary of the Dark wrote...

They decide to make a Dynasty Warriors game with branching dialog... You mash the attack button to kill things and that works fine.
You clearly haven't read the reviews, which indicate the game can be played in the exact same way as DAO. Pause, command, attack. The very vocal nay sayers who have clouded that fact again and again. Combat is faster, combat is streamlined. Combat IS NOT combos, and special attacks. It is still RPG in every way. Not a single reviewer who has had hands on time, (unlike all the complainers who have had none), has had much of anything negative to say about combat.
With each detail released more features are removed. You no longer determine your character's origin.
They're copying the Mass Effect dialog system wholesale. You mash the attack button to kill things and that works fine. Smaller number of locations. Smaller game size. Less hours. More micro-transactions.
Mass Effect style dialog isn't a removal of features, it's an increase of features. You do not mash buttons to attack, combat just happens much faster, giving a similar impression, again, no combos, etc. More micro-transactions? Given the fact that you no longer have to collect a shyt ton of elf root and its like, I'd say the micro-transactions will be decidedly less.
Pretty much every feature that made DA:O a unique throwback to the olden days of RPGs has been streamlined away. This worked for Mass Effect because it's a product of the current generation, it wasn't trying to ape something an older game already did. So it went along it's path just fine.
Mass Effect was a direct descendant of KOTOR, so how it's not a throwback in your estimation, baffles me. There were a great number of changes in ME2, and alot of them made it a more enjoyable game. I think fan response, reviews and awards won easily speak to that.
However people who purchased DA:O and enjoyed the experience are going to find something entirely different in DA2. Will they enjoy the experience, considering that it retains very little in common with it's predecessor? Time will tell, but my personal bet is on a resounding "no".
Much like the differences between ME1 and ME2, wherein the fan base grew considerably. I think the developers would be more than happy with that response.
A big strike against the game for me is seeing them cut content and put it in as preorder DLC. Whole shops worth of content are now exclusive preorder DLC, that other people will have to purchase later. Isn't that kind of shameful in anyone's eyes?
You mean EXACTLY like Warden's Keep was available free for those who pre-ordered DAO? It's the exact same formula.
And finally let me tell you about this community as opposed to the internet at large. This is a weird little commune, a bastion of people who really really like Bioware...

I'm obviously not up to date on DA2 development, so forgive me. Are they using an improved version of the same engine? I can't picture them creating a new engine in just a little over a year.
I mean Skyrim will have a new engine but at release it will have about five years of development.

There are people on these forums who think that everything Bioware has done since Baldur's Gate has been garbage. I dunno why they'd spend so much time here if they've hated everything Bioware's done for the last TEN YEARS, but yeah...

there's no races, no origins, it'll be much shorter (ME2's length), you can't change armor and different weapon types for party members (like in ME2), warriors can't duel wield or use archery, mages can only use staffs, there's less specializations, $60 for PC etc...
I couldn't possibly think of a reason why people might dislike the changes
