I don't know if this is the final design, but I like that females dont look all that different from males. Really, this is surprisingly mature design if you ask me.
Uninspiring and lazy design more like.

We already know turians, krogans, salarians, batarians and drell have females.
And what is it you think would make them look better hmm?packardbell wrote...

So far as you know maybe, but most of the rest of us know better.
A lot of this is due to paying attention to the game:
Turians: Garrus had reach. She had flexibility. She was a she. Therefore female turians exist. (Also, confirmed by devs: they were cut for time in ME1. Confirmed by Lair: Garrus has a sister. Confirmed by Retribution: two female turians appear in it. Confirmed by Evolution:
a female's in the first issue, and SHE'S THE ENTIRE REASON THIS THREAD EVEN EXISTS )
Drell: Thane had a wife. She was a she. Therefore, female Drell exist.
Salarians: the Codex says 10% percent of salarians are female. They actually run the salarain government. Therefore, female salarians exist.
Krogan: ME1 mentions Shiagur, a female warlord. The Codex mentions krogan women. We're told about a female camp on Tuchanka. We see draped female corpses during Mordin's loyalty mission. Therefore, female krogan exist.
Now, the games do not mention female vorcha, or, as far as I know, female batarians. However....
Batarians: Revelation has a significant, but minor, female batarian character. She was a she. Therefore, female batarians exist.
That leaves vorcha as the only open question in your list of "monogendered" aliens.

This, no doubt. I'm tired of seeing human-looking/conforming patterns of beauty applied to species that, supposedly, shouldn't have/share them.IndigoWolfe wrote...
I'm glad to see that turians have different standards of beauty than humans.
A level-headed and mature approach to it, IMO.

It not that at all. With most large animal(as in larger than insect.) Males have more features of attraction, Even humans being the males are more phycily perfound and hairer than females. It just our social aspect than contracts this.Fredvdp wrote...
With most animals males look better than females, humans being an exception. This could be true for aliens as well. If we ever see other female aliens, like salarians or krogan, I hope they also look ugly.

I don't understand why people whine. Can you distinguish a male from a female monkey? No? They're our closest genetic relatives. What makes you think you'd be able to tell apart aliens? Or that they'd be able to tell apart human males from human females?
If BioWare keeps the current design, I'd be happy. That means they're going more for the original science-fiction inspired universe design, and not a visually pompous sumer blockbuster.

I liked the fan concept arts that made the female turians more lithe, lighter framed.

I forgot about that! Does that mean the salarian councilor is female?

What the heck.. there's no femininity to distinguish that turian as a female none whatsoever. Just looks like a male turian with a war injury. Either dark horse were ordered to act on their imagination or this is the description Bioware gave them.. which depresses the hell out of me.
What the heck... there's no femininity to distinguish that Maylandia as a female none whatsoever. Just looks like a male Maylandia.
What the heck... there's no femininity to dinstinguish that duck as a female non whatsoever. Just looks like a male duck with a dye job.
Can you point out male between fishes and ducks?
Now point out male in Turains.

All of the people saying they love it because it isn't attractive deserve a taste of the same when it comes to Tali. I hope she looks like a Predator for you guys.

So either Garrus lied or Dark Horse sucks at artwork.
Take a pick.

Did you want them to look more humanoid or something?
And as one of those people who 'love it because it isn't attractive' I do hope Tali has quite an alien face and is not simply a human with a silly wig and some paint.
