So...Recon Operations pack...

I could very well be overreacting, but I honestly feel that BioWare/EA/whoever makes these desicions is starting to favour the PS3. It's like how Dead Space 2 has a PS3-exclusive limited edition with lots of neat extras, while 360 and PC pretty much get nothing. I wouldn't be so concerned if I could find any info suggesting 360/PC users who missed out in these items would have another chance.

The recon pack is PS3 exclusive from what I understand.
If that's so, then it's disheartening. I'm all for giving PS3 users a chance to get the content we've been offered, but it's quite unfair how 360 and PC users are getting shafted as a result. It even lowers the value of the Collectors Edition, in a way.

I bought the collector armor. I don't give three ****s about the helmet because it looks bad ass.
No one cares about not playing ME1 before ME2 on the ps3 because it doesn't matter.
Do I think the 360 should get it? Yup. Don't see why not.
I'm also a soldier who wears the Blood Dragon armor.
It looks badass.

As far as EA favoring PS3 over 360 users:
Activision always give 360 users some exclusive content (either timed or not) and EA tends to do the same for PS3. I think for Dead Space 2, they are releasing a once exclusive Wii game called Extraction that uses the new Move controller.

1. I'm not bothered by the helmets themselves; I'm bothered by them still being present in cutscenes. Drinking while still wearing your helmet looks ridiculous, as does kissing someone. Dragon Age does it right by removing headwear during cutscenes.
2. That has absolutely nothing to do with this topic. I wouldn't mind ME1 being available on PS3 (but Microsoft will likely never give it up).
3. I'm not saying it's wrong for a soldier to wear the Blood Dragon armour. I'm just saying it benefits tech/biotic players more.

The value of the Collectors Edition,
for me anyway, was the art book and the extra comic. That was worth the
extra $10 for me. To be honest, I am pretty sure I never wore or used
any of the Collector gear. I understand the Terminus armor and
Projector being free for a month for PS3 users, because there was no
pre-order bonus, like there was for ME2 on PC/360 a year or so ago.
After that month, PS3 users will have to buy Terminus if they want it.
Now they could release the Terminus gear and gun after that for PC/360,
but who knows.

True, the art book and comic are great extras (even though the comic is available to everyone, albeit with a different cover), and I'm still glad to have the CE. I just can't help but think back to when BioWare said the Collector gear would be exclusive to the CE, and yet now the PS3 users have easy access to it, along with the Terminus and Dr Pepper gear. I wouldn't mind if 360/PC users had an equal opportunity, but as it stands, those who snoozed have indefinitely lost.
Thanks for the info on Activision, by the way. Too bad I play more EA games than Activision:P.

Err... thanks for the details.
Most of the decent weapon dlc (arc projector) comes with the retail version anyway.

It'd look even stupider if you helmet disappeared every cutscene.ThisIsMadness91 wrote...

That'd evade the point of wearing armor with a helmet.

When Tali/Miranda/Thane/Garrus starts shooting Shepard in the face instead of making out with them you can say "told you so," then. How about that?

So you'd rather have Shepard magically drink and kiss through his/her helmet instead of just not having the helmet show up during conversations?
Anyway, back to the Recon Ops pack...

I don't see these concessions as showing favoritism to the PS3 though. Mass Effect is a very involved story and it's I think, a bit intimidating for some people to take the jump into it, in the middle of the story arc. I think this is just Bioware's best option to try and tell those PS3 gamers who don't have access to ME 1, that, they are not going to be left out, or miss out on any content that they were not given the opportunity to get originally.
It's not like Bioware is giving the PS3 players exclusive content, it's all stuff the rest of us had our chance to get a year ago. I see it as just leveling the playing field. OP brought up the PS3 exclusive Dead Space 2 limited edition, that would be an example of favoritism. The PS3 version getting access to the full Extraction game and a couple other small perks, that the 360 and PC players will never have.

That's not the point I don't care that the PS3 people got it it's just I hate the idea of exclusives, especially stuff they said would not be put into DLC, on multiplatform games.
