I don't do anything special for any area transitions. There is like something wrong with your installation, as you posted on the Vault there is a door missing a texture: Crimmor doesn't use any custom textures except for trees. Also you posted you're getting the same module transition errors in someone else's module. One suggestion would be temporarily lowering graphics settings and trying it, as someone that was crashing on module transition posted this helped them.

Thanks Arkalezth! Yes, I spoke to the monster the first time I was there and then went back up after the priest didn't show up in front of the house, but only the "monster" was there. And nobody in the crowd mentioned the priest. I restarted after that happened so I can try again - maybe he isn't supposed to disappear. I'll talk to him again and go back to the house and see if he shows up this time.

Unknown, but you have other issues. I've never had him fail to show up properly. He's always there, just hidden by script. He is unhidden when you enter the house if the variable was set when you talked to him at the temple to Lathander.

Thanks for the info Kamal! I'll try re-installing again and will lower the graphics and see what happens.

I doubt so, but could this be another of your Mac problems?

Yup, it definitely could be a Mac problem! I haven't had any for a while, but I wouldn't be surprised. Has the pc version been updated or the toolbox? Some of the error messages I'm getting gives me that impression.

I reinstalled my game and the campaign, and lowered or turned off the graphics, but to no avail. I still can't get to Drovers gate. I don't know how I got there the first time, but I must have because I met the harper agent.

I started the Crytrapper quest last night and hit a dead end. I read on the vault that somebody's char got killed in the basement, but nobody was there when I went down. They also mentioned basements - plural - and I don't know if that was a spelling error or if I missed something and I had my rogue go through the whole place with search on! Is there supposed to be something down there (dupplegangers maybe)? If so, it might be a resolution problem and I'll check that out tonight (in Motb I couldn't see anything in the dead god's vault without changing my resolution).

Any help is greatly appreciated!

A new patch, you mean? Nah, and I expect to be riding a flying pig of doom before seeing any other official update.

What's the crytrapper quest? Maybe I don't remember, or maybe I just missed it when I played.

If you do the first set of guild quests, you will be offered quests for the Crytrapper and Ophal families. The Crytrappers quest can be completed without going into the cellars (doing so is optional), as you can find everything needed to complete the quest in their estate. Also, it should say cellars, not basements, and it's certainly possible to get killed in them. There's nothing of note in the hidden basement inside the estate itself other than it exists and you can enter it, the Crytrapper cellars is a seperate map that you can not get to unless you chose the optional continuation path of the quest with Lady Crytrapper.

However, the game itself can not be completed without going to Drovers Gate, the area is part of all critical plot paths.

Frosty44 : you posted on the vault that you had the same unable to load module error message with someone else's campaign as well. I would suggest a post in the tech support forums and indicate you have a Mac. Kaldor Silverwand is a mac user and often answers problems relating to nwn2 on the mac, I can not help with that.

Thanks Kamal!

Kaldor has helped me in the past - thanks for reminding me! It's been a while since I had "mac" issues with the game so I didn't even think of that.

Edited to say that I decided to start a new game and this time I went to Drovers gate first, but I lowered the graphics and used the lowest resolution - and I was able to get through the transition! So, I went back to the saved game using that same set up - and, wait for it - it gave me that same error message and wouldn't load. So now I'm even more confused about what is wrong. If nobody on a pc is having this problem it is obviously a Mac thing and I give up. I would love to play this campaign but if I can't do the main quest it just doesn't look like it's going to happen. :(

I also wanted to mention that I re-did the "monster" quest. This time I got the convo in front of the house about the priest and then went to get thim. He said to meet him in front of the house and never showed up!

Kamal, I left a message at the vault, but it looks like you haven't been there for a while so I'm leaving it here. I have a favor to ask of you - actually two! I re-installed my game and re-started your campaign but was having some trouble that might be Mac related so I put it aside. Somebody recently suggested a walk-around that I'm ashamed to say I didn't think of! Could you possibly give me a code that would take me back and forth through Drover's gate?

*SPOILER ALERT

The other problem I had was that the Priest never showed up at the "monsters" house so I couldn't complete that quest. Is there a code I could use to make him appear or a journal update as if he had shown up?

*END SPOILER ALERT

I would really appreciate any help you can give me!

Thanks,

Karen

Karen: the journal "sh_monster1" must be set to 16 when you enter the monster's house. If you are already in the house, you would have to exit and re-enter, the script will show the priest when you enter with that journal state. This journal entry ends with "Meet up with the priest back at the house."

There is no way to avoid Drover's Gate though, you have to pass through it as part of the main plot. To avoid it you'd have to use the console to jump to waypoints around the city. Non-spoiler: You will wind up outside the city at one point and returning takes you to Drover's Gate.

wp_drwheel1_in (Wheel Ward)
wp_to_river3 (Alandor Gate)
These two locations are in Drovers Gate and you may need to visit them as part of the main plot:
wp_woaz_in (Woazgoaz the Weaver)
wp_govtgovt_in (The Thaeldorn)
Depending on your actions, at one point you will be directed to exit the Thaeldorn. Instead of just waypoint jumping your way out to avoid transitioning through Drovers, you do need to move to the exit door before you do so, as there are some triggers you will pass over that are important to why you are there.

I know I said this before, but I'll say it again because hard work deserves praise. I love this module. Thank you for bringing it to everyone; to me especially.

kamal_ I know this is completely off topic and not even about the same game but have you played Dishonoured ? Because it's got some excellent stealthy stuff in it with a lot of rooftop leaping around, assassinations, sneaking, knocking out guards and if you like the sort of thing you've put in this module you might want to give it a go. Apparently you can do the whole game without killing anybody but I just can't resist headshots with my crossbow and other means of stealthy execution !

No, but I played and loved Thief 1&2 and Fallout 1&2, which were probably the major inspirations here.

It's well worth an investigation and a lot like Thief Deadly Shadows but with a wrecked plague ridden city which is sort of "Falloutish" and it throws in a bit of magic too.

As a major fan of the Thief series (primarily the first two) as well as various works by Arkane Studios, I echo Tsongo's heads-up regarding Dishonoured.  Although I haven't yet played it myself, it's been on my wish list for several months after seeing some gameplay footage.  It seems like Thief, if Garrett had some more Keeper magic, and if he were in alternate Victorian London with Half-Life 2 curfew-bots.

I use Lytha's ghost style, when games allow it.

That looks really hard but could well be possible if you used all the magic properly as you can freeze time, turn into a rat and go in little tunnels or teleport around and luckily the reloading times are very fast which is quite amazing as the areas are pretty big and the graphics are good.

Which sort of gets me back to NWN2 as in Dishonoured a lot of the npcs look the same and perhaps this saves a lot of computer "stress" although I do rather like making different peasants and guards etc.

I just started playing this over the weekend.  Wow, what a city, and I am having a blast exploring everywhere.  It is nice to play a module with out having to worry about combat, and get to utilize all of your skills.  Sneaking around in the dark is absolutely awesome, and the open lock mechanic is fantastic.
