Hmm....that's odd I thought humans should always be taller than elves despite gender. Oh well it's not a huge problem.

Hmm No . Tolkien created the Elves .. Sure you had other mythology with creature looking like the Elves (Tall and elegant creature like the Nymph or Succubus) . But Elves were created by  Tolkien ..

Elves are basicly just what most human would dream to become .. Highly intelligent , immortal , loving, caring , beautiful  , tall with slender/athletic body .. They basicly have all of their sense heigtened and they don't know poverty.

Bioware took the Elves and did the complete opposite .. I don't think the *Elves* in dragon age are Elves .. We should call them Sevle .

Speaking of Tolkien, should it be expected now that elves has been retconned, dark skinned elves no longer exist?

I don't think I've ever facepalmed so hard at a post.

Seriously? Why would you do this, BioWare?

Heh. Funny that I would essentially say "I don't know, I've never compared them" and come back to this. Posted Image

The original post is a series of three questions. I wrote it with the assumption that you might be wrong. However, I did want an answer.

Looking in-game, it seems like Fenris is a tad shorter than my Male Hawke. It's not a marked difference, though. Same appears to be true for female elves.

Of course they're not taller than Male Hawke. It was never my worry that they were taller than Male Hawke. After all, who'd want to play a hero who was shorter than elves?

I would have done the same, but I hadn't removed my hand from my palm after doing it to his previous post.

Yeah they disappeared:oLike that, poof! Fenris just uses a lot of tanning lotions.

BLEH. BLEH I say!

This is why we needed a female Qunari romance.

Yeah makes you wonder why people claim elves losing their racial significance if they are same height as humans while they put up with Elves losing their immortality, beauty, etc. I mean, honestly ...

I see nothing wrong with elves being a bit taller than female Hawke. It might not be canon in DA:O but overall elves are usually seen as very tall, slender creatures: especially so in Lord of the Rings. Plus, if I can I like to avoid dating men shorter than me, no offense but I just personally like it when the men my female Hawke dates are taller than her. Not that I wouldn't date shorter ones, I just like it when I have the option of taller men ^_^

Wow, I'm shocked people are making such a big deal about this. I really don't have a problem with male elves being slightly taller or the same height as the average female human, especially if one turns out to be a romance option, I'm taller than most of the men I date in real life so it's kind of a welcome change while playing a game. As long as they're still slender and have pointy ears then to me they still keep their elvishness. *shrugs*

I’m rather glad of it. I never romanced Zevran as a human, I just couldn’t. When I played an elf, I hated being so tiny. I felt as if most everyone but the children had an advantage on me. Perhaps it’s because I am so short in real life and have memories of my much taller brother playing keep away with my head.

Twice as thin is an exaggeration. All I've heard when describing the elves by a Dev is 'slender'. Slender doesn't mean weaker either... it just means I want your metabolism. LOL

Not really an exaggeration; they're "slender" in how you'd describe a fashion model after a diet "slender".

it's to the point where the body is hardly any wider than the head (after you take into account the clothing adds some width)  And the toothpicks for arms don't exactly convey strength, either. Especially next to exaggerated human males.

Elves couldn't have lost too much of their beauty. Humans still seem to find alot of them attractive for some reason. (Humans in game not the player).

Really though they're become more and more tolkien elf like. I don't see why they bothered with the differences in the first place.

Also no shoes *rubs temples* Yes why that is swell. Please at the veyr least tell me this is limited to the dalish? I can't picture CEs running around with no shoes.

Edit: Unless of course CEs can't afford shoes.
Which while weird is better than them choosing not to wear them.

That's pretty much my thinking, well minus being tall part. I'm short as hell. But back on topic. I just read this thread and kind of go "Huh?" It's really not that big of a deal. It's height and it's neither here nor there to me.

*Looks at Fenris*

I 'm somewhat scared to ask.

Plus if I assume the worst there's a chance I'll be pleasantly surprised.

They were called stupid fat hobbits for a reason, and it was not because they were fat nor stupid. We all know why.

I lol'd whenever I saw their bloody feet.

That's what happens when you run around without shoes people!

That and the bottom of your foot gets all rough. :/ I'm weird I like soft feeling feet. I don't want something rough rubbing against me when I'm playing footsie.

David saying in the Fenris thread that elves may be as tall/taller than a FemHawke.

Why bioware chose to use elves in the first place, I'll never understand. Being taller gave me that warm feeling of superiority over those walking cliches, so I'm saddened that I no longer have the ability to rub it in their faces.

Part of the "... ehh" reaction is caused by the earlier comments from the devs how they're doing their darndest to make DA2 not look like the standard Tolkien-derived fare that DAO was (their words)

Height != superority

Flawed argument.

Does not compute.

No, he'll have massive biceps like everyone else.
