Make it go away.
This thread all but confirms I'll never see a Dwarf love interest, though.

As a player of WOW Elven people are like a foot taller on the Allinace and foot and half shorter on the horde then a human i don't see why people are so picky about in game height of NPC avatar as a man in real life and haveing the height of 6'3 and half inches i can tell you frist hand it is hard to find clothing and car i can fit in so its not all that great
Making more money, being viewed as a better person or more attractive without any effort. Yeah I'm just going to cry you a river.<_<

Have to admit one of the things I liked about Alistair-elf was the fact that he was taller, so he had to kind of scoop her up a little to kiss her.
I can feel the eyes rolling...
I like my dwarf noble for the backstory.
And in Origins I was taller than all the elves! All of them!
I think the scooping to kiss is adorable too, I just prefer the lady to be the scoop-er rather than the one scooped.

Agreed.
I love stuff like that as well as a female proposing to a male instead of the other way around.
Frankly its gotten to the point where the normal way bores me.
I *liked* being taller than Zevran and every elf I came across. I liked being taller than the dwarves.
Since I'm a tall female I didn't feel like such a weirder for being tall in Origins.

Mr.Gaider, with all due respect, maybe stopping for couple minutes to think before you engage in the Snark could be in order.
The original comment i was responding to was about how tall and slender is more like "Tolkien elves". My comment was to point out that making things more "like Tolkien" is opposite to what devs stated as their intention, which was supposedly to make things look less Tolkien-like.
If you go from "more/less like Tolkien" to "they aren't exactly like Tolkien, what are you, blind" then i can only presume it's because strawmen are so much easier to burn down?
Oh, I understood you.
What I meant, meanwhile, was that they only look more like Tolkien elves if you simultaneously ignore the fact that we've changed a great deal more about the appearance of elves than simply their height. Those other changes, after all, aren't Tolkien-like at all, and I'm not sure why you'd look at them in isolation of each other.
Hence the suggestion to check your glasses.

And I don't know about Gorim because I refuse to play a dwarven female. I am not looking up to everyone else in the game it's weird considering in life I'm used to looking down.

Hmm actually i'd have to say i'm not sure if these other changes really make the elves any less Tolkien-like... i mean, sure, they aren't like Agent Elrond of the latest movie fame, but the extra slender appearance doesn't really clash for me with the whole basic concept of superior, beautiful creatures, nor does the larger eyes and other possible changed to DA2 elves mentioned so far. But granted, i'm not too much of Tolkien junkie so it can be just wrong impression on my partDavid Gaider wrote...

Don't dash your dreams too soon. Just because there are some elf alterations, doesn't necessarily mean Varric has or has not been confirmed just yet. He's too damn sexy.

Besides that, it appears that not all MALE elves are all that tall. It could simply be that there is more variety to the heights of these characters.
Or perhaps that City Elves have become taller over time, compared to Dalish.
We can't say for sure because there aren't enough details.
The main question is thus - Are human women shorter than elven dudes, or are they just about the same height? I'm not too concerned by this. Just because there is a slight variation to the design won't take the game experience away from me. As long as it doesn't alter DA's story significantly, I'll be cool.

Tolkien elf ears are usually considered to be small, "leaf shaped." Sometimes in the fanart they barely look pointed at all. linky linky Most Tolkien elves also have long hair, and the default look is dark hair + grey eyes.tmp7704 wrote...

I don't like dwarves but it has less to do with their height and more to do with the fact most dwarven males in game being either arrogant or roguish. I have a thing for well mannered good guys.
I think Varric manages to be all of the above.
