From the sound of it they did get taller as well, in part because the original height combined with new thin silhouette would make them look too much like children.

The concept art for the DA2 races may be well showing the actual sizes of the characters or something very close to it, despite the initial disinformation we got regarding that.

This particular line causes me to hold on to hope that Varric is an LI. People have been discounting him because of his height, but I am fervently clinging to hope.

I joke about the refridgerator, but it's a trope that needed to be called out in order to make writers think about what they're doing-- because sometimes a lot of what we do we do without actively thinking about it. Just because we dredge it up from our subconscious, however, doesn't mean it's automatically gold. Let's not split hairs, heightism as it regards to discrimination is a real issue.  People get judged, make less money and have reduced chances of getting jobs because of it.  Some places even have laws against it.  Is it a huge one, I'm gonna say no...but then again I am female and an inch or so above the average height for my ethnicty/origin/age.  It doesn't affect me much.  Although when all is said and done that's not my reason for disapproval.  I just pretty much don't like it.  I prefer to play women who are taller, if you made Lady Hawke as tall as M!Hawke I'd be estatic.  If she was taller I'd be knocked over by a butterfly fart.

Is it something you/Bioware/Poor concept artist now terrified of the forums intended? No. (Ok maybe there is an outside one in a million chance considering your distate for dwarves )  Does that mean we can't discuss it?  The Fenris thread was the approriate place for the first reaction and when the forum police wannabes tried to kick us out we pretty much left to not further disrupt that thread.  Except we were followed by people who claim not to care but keep returning to goad those who do, which I'm pretty sure is frowned upon by the forums rules.

I don't see the logic or reason for the change.  What you have explained makes little sense to me and I don't agree with what I've seen.  That's still ok right?  It does not make you wrong, might not even make me wrong opinions being what they are. 

Still gonna love DA2, your writing and badger you for MOAR gay romances

Suggesting, however, that there's some kind of conspiracy behind it-- that it must be a result of darker motives, an assumption that we think romances with short characters are unacceptable -- is not the same thing.

Careful with that. I believe Chris Priestly already said that the heights in that concept art were not representative... meaning the concept art is there to show the visual distinction between the races. It's not meant to show the exact height that the models in-game will use.
