You know, I can totally see Gaider facepalming over all the unintentioanl drama he just created with that offhanded comment. Particularly since he's the one developer who goes out of his way to word his posts specifically to avoid this problem.

This is good call imo. I always hated the shortness of the elves in the first game. Made them look pathetic., though I'm not saying short people can't look good. I'm just it didn't work for them.

Except no one was making threats or yelling that they change it back or they'll kill themselves if they don't. The only ones blowing this out of proportion are the ones saying that Gaider's scared off by a bunch of people annoyed by a change that probably wasn't his decision in the first place. Seriously, Gaider's gonna be scared off by people saying "WTF" and "NO!" is hilarious. You have to start asking him whether or not Fenris' semen glows for that.

Try actually reading what is written on that pic you just posted.  Also the devs had already said that the picture was not to scale.  And I think but I don't want to state for certain that they said elves were still shorter.

Forget the concept art, the devs already said it a hundred times before,  the concept art shouldn't be used to judge the size of the different races.

Okay.. "Distinct racial physiology is an opportunity to explore different standards of beauty..." Um.. Okay I read it. 

Also elves may very well be shorter, I mean just because Fenris is tall(compared to DA:O Elves) doesn't mean its the entire race. I mean with humans the're are people that are 8 feet tall, or 4 foot tall(short).. Why couldnt the're be atleast one elf thats a little bit taller than others?

Really? Awesome. I hope this is true. Dwarves are different. The whole "being short" thing is kind of implicit in the name, part of what makes them dwarves and it doesn't detract in the slightest.. but I was not a fan of how short the elven dudes were in DA:O. At all.

Obviously, lore wise, I think there should be a lot of variance in height and it'd be awesome if that was reflected in game. But if they're using one basic model across the board for species/gender -- as I imagine they are -- I think this is the right way for them to be going.

I don't think it has much to do with 'heightism'. People act like it's just the end of the world for people to have preferences in their mates. And yes, I'm talking about reality, not our pixellated friends, here. Some people prefer bigger builds, smaller builds, tiny chests, big chests, butts, chests (man chests ), certain hair or skin colors. Height is just one more thing that some people have. That it's being called some form of descrimination baffles me.

Every person is not going to find every other person in the world attractive. There are a myriad of reasons why. Height may or may not be one of them. It is not descrimination. Descrimination is when you start thinking lesser of someone for some superficial reason. Not wanting to mate with them does not equate thinking lesser of them or their abilities/rights as a living person.

There are better and more mature ways to express your disagreement than spreading ignorance and making fun of people having a different opinion than you you know.
