Every person is not going to find every other person in the world attractive. There are a myriad of reasons why. Height may or may not be one of them. It is not descrimination. Not wanting to mate with them does not equate thinking lesser of them or their abilities/rights as a living person.

Bioware, I am DISAPPOINT. Extremely so.

Now, the obligatory rant where I make assumptions and throw accusations.
It's because of that damn feathery tattooed idiot, Fenris. The "angsty, brooding prettyboy" romance would have been quite diminished in potential had he been shorter than Hawke.

I'm seriously peeved. I loved that DAO elves were shorter because A) it made sense, seeing as their species evolved in forests it was a very nice way to further differentiate them from more "traditional", Tolkien-esque elves (I'm an elf! Tra la la la la! I'm tall and pretty and immortal and I 'm better than you at everything! Douchebags.). I also thought it was very endearing that my male Warden was shorter than Leliana, but that's secondary.

Is the change annoying because of an assumption that the devs did this to please the majority of women who want taller guys? What if they simply decided to retcon the elves to be taller for no more reason than they retconned the qunari to be as different as they are?

Does the fact that everyone who has expressed actively liking this change comes packed with reasons that are shallower than kiddie poo make a differencel?  Well it sure doesn't help, but no it's not the reason.

Elves are shorter, they are.  Now it appears that might have changed but lets assume that DG was mistaken for a moment.  I can see changing the elves to look different from human and they did that, cool no problem.  Even if I find them less attractive over all it wouldn't change my chars interaction with them.  The Qunari question is a non-starter and a misleading question thrown out there on your part.  Qunari were always meant to be different (see concept art and the codexes) from how they turned out to be in Origins and changing them would've been difficult so I can't blame them for not doing it. Horn, helmets...and somethign else. Oh my!

If the devs had wanted elves to be taller that is a much less difficult change to make the way they made the rigs.  They didn't and if kinda follows that it means it wasn't intended.  If it changes oh well I'm allowed to express a negative opinion.  Unlike what certain people in certain threads think it doesn't have to be all positive all the time.

Sadly I'm sure this will be the post picked apart when other might more eloquently express the issue.

IMO- if something never stated in a lore it cant be retconed. There is no word in codex or in game dialogues that stated that elves are shorter than humans.

Couldn't they just make Featherface taller? Handwave it with something about the lyrium tats acting as steroids, or something like that. It'd be feasible, I think, seeing as companions have a unique body model now.

Or it could be a newly conceived rule that Elves that live around humans grow taller?
I mean Elves lost they're immortality from being around humans(I don't even know how this is possible).

Maybe Humans are like growth hormones to Elves.. Talking, subjugating growth hormones..
