I was wondering if you had an ideal DA party by class alone ? I have heard people talk about DA parties by name but what about just by class ?

Warrior Warrior Rogue Mage is my ideal party.

Dual Warriors allow the Rogue to focus on backstabbing, while keeping the enemies off of the Rogue, who tends not to be able to take hits too well. At the end of the game, the Rogue can pretty much stand on his own, so I might replace a Warrior with a Archer.

Well, mage+warrior+rogue, and the last spot is anything goes? Can't do anything wrong with this setup.

Depends a bit on the difficulty setting I guess, since in Origins on normal it just didn't matter, though a rogue is always handy due to lock picking.

sword and board (not me), mage (more than likely me), a dual weirlding rogue, then depending on the fight either a 2h war, or an archer / another mage. High Dragons / Archdemons make having too many melee a PITA.

mages x 4, though i doubt that's possible with the whole Carver and Beth thing going on.

Tie between two warriors, one rogue, and one mage - and - two rogues, one warrior, and one mage.
Though sometimes in Origins I'd drag Wynne along during my Mage playthroughs simply because I couldn't be arsed to waste talent points in any kind of buffing magic for the majority of my mage playthroughs.
It  just depends upon my mood, really. All I know is that one of each class is a must. The extra spot in the party changes upon each scenario.

This was the way I usually went in my only playthrough so far.
I used my Rogue as an Archer most times until the number of opponents was cut down a bit.

1 warrior, 1 mage, 1 rogue, and then... whatever class I happen to feel like playing that particular run through.

I usually would go for warrior warrior rogue mage, with some variations depending on what I'm about to do.

By class? I do not like unbalanced or overpowered combination like 3 mages + 1 tank parties, so my usual setup is something like that

Fighter (Sword and Board)
Rogue (Dual Wield)
Mage (Nuker/Controller)

For the fourth spot I usually have two alterrnatives: Rogue Archer or Mage Healer/Buffer. I must say that in DA:O (whatever people say) the Archer was the most effective and fun to play alternative. At the end of the game Leliana's damage was crazy. And buffing/healing was mostly a waste of time... the heal speal was more than enough to cover all necessity.

In DAO it was a warrior tank, a DPS warrior (generally me as DW), a ranged rogue and a damage mage (with a bit of heal magic). In DA2 I really don't know. I'm gonna change my party almost every time.

The play through with this character was warrior, warrior, archer, healer mage. Then of course the healer mage got crushing prison and that mana explosion spell and would take out half of an enemy group before the warriors got close.

3 mages and 1 rogue. A healer/controller mage, debuffer/controller mage, nuker mage, and a dw duelist/assassin rogue. I like making my enemies unable to attack or move, it makes it easier for backstabs, and aoe's like storm of the century, entropic death, and firestorm/grease fire.

Anything without rogues. I don't need any hyperactive kids jumping around kicking glass vials.

I would prefer shield warrior, two handed warrior, dual wield rogue PC who can switch to archery and a mage. So I can get a feel for all the weapon styles in DA2.

But I will end up rotating based on personality. Though in DA:O I did not use a pure ranged character like Varric and Sebastien.

I like the 1 shield warrior, 1 double blade rogue/warrior, 1 archer rogue and 1 mage, I felt it was the most balanced and most fun to play around with the max number of talents, I didnt feel like doubling up on classes in the party.

How come? They had the potential to be very powerful, especially in awakening :D

One of each class and a spare. Though the class I have twice should at least have different spec. So with mages a healer and controller/damager, with rogue a melee and a ranged, with warrior one defender and a scrapper.

I choose characters based on how much I like them, and then base my strategy on their strengths and weaknesses.
