EDIT: solution has been found, if you have the same issue please scroll down a bit for explanation.

I'm having some trouble with custom head morphs:
When using custom hair from the tucked-hair mod, while the skin tones look perfect in the toolset, in-game the scalp texture remains a pale white.

I've tried to see if it is a skin texture blending issue, which it seems not to be.

I'm using the toolset to apply the new head morph on an existing save-game in case that should matter.

Help would be greatly appreciated, in either the form of an answer or a link to a solution.

Thanks in advance :)

(I have tried search already, but it seemd to be bugging out on me. My apologies if this issue has been frequently discussed already. If a solution exists I'd be grateful for the link to the existing thread/s.)

actually, now that I'm tinkering with it more, it is not only with hair from the tucked hair mod, it's with any hair and I can't seem to find what goes wrong here :/

Sounds like it could be a tint issue possibly, although it's odd that it doesn't show up in the toolset. What mods have you installed or changes have you made?

Thank you for responding :)

The only mods that could be affecting this issue as far as my judgement goes is PT's colors (using the t_04 skincolor), Bidelle's skins (_06), type3 body (natural bodies), eyelashes, and different hair packs - however:
Even if I use defaults for everything, except for the body (which shouldn't affect the head afaik), I keep having the same problem.
This is on an elven base by the way. I vaguely remember having somewhat of the same issue with the human face I made (see my profile picture) but as you see that corrected itself - somewhat - though there's still a very visible line between face and scalp.

Hope you can help!

You need to be more specific about the "different hair packs" you are using.

Editing an existing save could be part of the issue, especially using the GFF editor. Do you get the same problem with heads in the character creator or NPCs? If so, the obvious step would be to uninstall all mods to see if that resolves the issue then add them back one at a time to discover the one causing problem.

Typically, it doesn't matter if I'm using standard hair or hair from a mod - all hair glitches except the default bald. But for reference: I'm using 'tucked hair' and 'more hairstyles'.

I was hoping it would have been a known issue so I wouldn't have to go over the process of de- and re-installing all the mods. Alas, it looks like that's going to be the only way to find out.

Thank you for your help so far. If I find a solution I'll update this thread. If you come across anything that might be usefully related I'd still be happy to hear :)

Before you uninstall the mods the first step is to establish if it is a global issue or something specifically related to editing saves. Like I said, see if you get the same issue in the Character Creator or with NPCs (export some new head morphs, name them appropriately, and throw them in the Override folder).

Yea i would first see if NPC's or new Chars get the same problem. If yes ,its probably another mod's issue. If no, its how you edit the savegames. Be sure you check out same races.

I tinkered some more - since there was no reason to assume anything was wrong with the import or change in the savegame, nor did it give any issues in the chargen, I went over each and every non-standard adjustment I made.

As it turns out, the pineappletree's hair colors that I have were to blame in my case. It looks like there is some kind of texture deviation between the tucked hair, bidelle's skins and pt colors that causes the glitch. If I use a default hair color the problem goes away.

Thanks for your input guys, though you may not have given me the solution outright, your feedback encouraged me to continue looking for the issue and so I found it :)

Case solved & closed; ready to be archived :)

Hrmm odd. Skin colour is controlled by a different tint file - using a custom hair tint shouldn't influence it, unless (for some reason) those tints also include tint info for the alpha channel (which controls skin colour). I have PT's tints and the hair tints don't include any alpha channel colours, so either you don't have an original copy of the PT tints or something else is causing the issue.

I figured it would be an issue with an alpha channel, and it may be I don't have the original PT colors. (I can't remember if I got them through an 'all-in-one' pack or separate - I do know I got them from DANexus.) But it werks now! - It's a poor workaround, but it werks :)
