So I made a male shepard who romanced Liara in ME1 but then after finishing ME2, I feel inclined for him to be paired up to Miranda but I don't want to cheat so...

I'm going play it again and I want to know if it is possible for me to finish the Lotsb dlc and break it off with Liara early on in the game before I pursue a relationship with Miranda?

Theoretically, yes. What you'd have to do is save Miranda's loyalty mission for later and do it after you finish LoTSB. LoTSB makes a little more sense chronologically if you do it after the suicide mission, but I can see what you're going for here.

No character's romance triggers unless they're loyal.

Great! At least I wouldn't have to worry about the consequences of cheating in ME3. It's just too bad you can't do the same for Ashley or Kaidan because they don't have their own dlc... yet.

This has been discussed at length in other threads but I wouldn't say getting together with someone else after being apart for 2 years is cheating.

I know this is in my sig, but my sig hasn't been showing up correctly in my browser so I'll repeat. I did shadowbroker early in the game, continued romancing liara then immediately afterwards had kelly in my quarters and hooked up with jack without choosing the option to get to know her. I then romanced tali before the suicide mission and made sure I got tali, jack and the crew killed to be rid of the evidence of my cheating ways. I'm interested to see if I'll be getting my comeuppance or if i will get to continue my relationship with liara as I intend to in ME3.

Interesting, I want to see what comes out of that in ME3 :)

That's quite a... devious plan you came up with there. But since you managed to get all your other love interests killed, I'd say you'll still continue the romance with liara in ME3. There's one way to check it though it requires a new playthrough: Do the exact same same sequence again but save LotSB until after the suicide mission. If your romance with kelly/jack/tali is really terminated by their deaths (which is very likely) then Liara will not comment on you being with someone during the 'balcony scene paragon interrupt' and on the shadow broker ship.

Again the most that can happen in ME3 is Liara remarking about your relationship with tali/jack, since they're both dead I doubt you will be forced to choose

Or you could be patient and wait until ME3 but waiting is no fun.

Well it's been two years for Liara and everyone else. It's only been a matter of weeks as far as Shepard is aware.

So I'd say from Shepards perspective it more or less is cheating. Unless LOTSB is completed before the other romance and you end it there.

I might check that out robhuzz, I havent seen those scenes with liara commenting on you being with someone else. The only time I played shadowbroker post-game was on an import where I hadn't romanced her in ME1. Every time since I have done it prior to getting involved with anyone else for the squad/resource bonuses it provides.

I also would have preferred to have had miranda as my romance prior to suicide mission instead of tali but as I was planning to get them all killed I had to go for tali as Miranda is pretty much impossible to kill off if she is loyal. I've asked in the main suicide mission thread if there is a way to kill her when she is loyal as I couldn't figure one out from the guide.

^Well if you can stand killing everyone else as well (except yourself I take it and that means at least 1 person you take with you to the reaper fight has to survive) the only way I can think of is to leave her at the doors but kill of strong defenders (zaeed, grunt, garrus) before that.

Or taking the strong defenders (if loyal) with you to the boss. That'll most likely kill miranda and everyone else left at the door if their 'defender score' is low enough. There's a thread about everyone surviving the suicide mission somewhere on these forums. It explains the concept of defender score better than I can. You should check it out

Edit, check out this thread: http://social.biowar...index/2933016/1

But I don't think there's any way to kill a loyal Miranda without killing anyone else - she's got plot armor through the entire mission up until the point where you have to split up between fighting the reaper and defending the door.

Liara does at least comment on KIA Jacob being stable (well, dead is stable...)

I did read and understood the SM guide before i asked. I just wanted to be doubly sure. She can't die before the boss fight. She survives if she comes to fight the reaper and getting a low enough score for someone to die holding the line requires pairing her with someone who will die instead of her. So yeah. It's impossible.
