Haha if North America is a third world nation I hate to see what you rank the rest of the world. Sure we've got Mexico but the US has the strongest economy in the word 2/3rds bigger than China. And Canada is pretty nice place too! Where better to live actually?

Your countries in debt 900 something billion to china.

China is building ports in mexico so that when mexican trucks are allowed into the united states they can cheaply put low quality items en masse into usa stores.

Effectivly usa isnt the 1st world place it was before Regan.

The US is the worlds strongest economy 900 billion is a drop in the bucket. Second of all we have one of the highest standards of living. The rest of the world would be what a fourth world country? Give me a break, people love their doom and gloom predictions its not going to happen folks.

Your standards of living are way below countries like Norway in almost every index. Also, under some definitions the US doesn't even qualify as a developed country at this point in time. That will be rectified if the healthcare reform works, of course.

Strongest economy  based on borrowing money which the debt ceeling is coming soon. And if that ceeling its pushed inflation will start to spiral out of control... unless the debt is paid which... I mean come on thinking the debt is going to be paid is like hoping america will suddenly eat healthy...or like thinking the sun will suddenly go cold. Think the point is clear no need to ... well anyways

Full of hippies who wont unshackle the greatst innovating spirit in the planet, and on the other hand full of warmongers venturing into self destructive wars for profit.

And the other big 3....inflation nearing a critical point, the other who still hasn't gotten  over its empire crumbling decades ago, and last but not least a land whose whose military economical and unifying strength is anything but all of the aforementioned; and whose financial future is being bankrolled by the country with inflation running rampant.

Yeah... in 100 years things will be very differnt.

I'm currently living in West London. One of the most affluent parts of the world, actually.

Was James who started it.

I only pointed out the truth and the reality that usa could be 3rd world in ME timeline.

Also James Russia is just as modern as america for the most part.

Accept for the more rural area.

In some ways russia is more advanced like in nanotechnology.

Europe is already united under one government. Ever heard of the European Union? They are actually trying to form a North American Union and an Asian Union. I imagine the Earth of the future is ruled by a single totalitarian world government in the distant future.

Wouldnt be ythe best of ideas to follow the EU at the moment considering the European Union is in tatters financially atm. Germany is the only one keeping it afloat from what my Euro pals are telling me.

U.S., Europe, Asia, whatever. We are all humans and we are all equally worthless. Just thought I would add in my nickles and dimes (:

Germany is the only strong european nation at the moment but they keep having to pay to keep other smaller nations afloat which is an issue.

I love how this has devolved into a talk about the modern day economy when it's meant to be about speculating why the Reapers have chosen to attack Europe first.

I think it would be pretty neat if North America was a third world country in ME3. Its time for other countries to get the spot at being the new "top dog". Maybe India is a big superpower now since Calcutta was described as being so nice.

honestly I really could careless about any nation in ME3. What really matters to me is the alliance, and humanity fighting united, to stop from being systematically exterminated.

If you all would STFU with argueing about the current political situation on Earth, I would like to point out that ME is set about 170 years in the future. There is a LOT that can happen in that amount of time regarding the economic and political arrangement of the world. in the last 170 years, the US went from a nation barely holding itself together to being the sole superpower, and China is already getting ready to replace us, We've gone from horse and carriage and sail-power to nuclear reactors, jet airplains, and near-instantaneous transfer of information around the world. Firearms have gone from firing 3 shots per minute that might hit the broad side of a barn to rapid fire rifles that can take out a target at 100 yards. How many governments have been born and died in the last 170 years?

My point is that it doesn't matter where BioWare wants to make the functional capital of Earth because it is to far enough ahead of the modern day that several major shifts could have happened in the time in between.

Well said. The alliance's capital is on Arcturus Station, so I suppose that would be the capital for Earth as a whole I suppose. Which is good so we can avoid all these "My country is better cuz we gotz the capital" threads.

There is no capital of earth

The alliance is funded by the most powerful 16 nations on earth.

The alliance is not the governing body of earth there is no president of earth, earth is not a united nation with all the countries as states under the alliance.

The alliance is the un security council on crack and tripled in size plus 1.

Also we are talking about the econamy etc of today because it effects the future earth tommorow.

Only James2192 did a my country is better post.

Also RethenX I really dont understand why you are making sarcastic remarks calling us experts sarcastically. We are talking about the REAL economic situations of today not some made up garbage.

Alls you need to do is go to a good freakin news website to see that.

No not cnn or fox but RT or BBC

That is only because of all the sneaky snide remarks about the US. Anyways I will get on topic.

I really think they aren't just attacking London I think they are attacking all the major cities. I really want to see the battle for Arcturus Station I hope Sheps involved in that one!

and Ireland.

But back on topic

If I remember the Liberty Head and Gun Which Killed Two Presidents codex entrys correctly Mexico, Canada and the US have a single unified government in MA. It is possible that other countries have joined since the civil war that sparked.

This

In ME3 humanity is well past nation-state rivals and it is because of the unifing effect of humanity having a common enemy.
