So I am going to play through the Ultimate Edition

I once played through on release DA:O on PS3. My PS3 is long gone, got a 360 along the way and decided to get the Ultimate Edition to set up a character(s) for DA II.
I have my favorite party pretty much set in stone: Shale, Myself, Leliana (would have gone with Morrigan as I like her character more if she wasn't a Shapeshifter [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/bandit.png[/smilie]), and Wynne. What I ain't sure yet is my class, but I'm inclined toward Rogue (yeah...2 Rogues...) but even then, dunno if to go Ranged as well to stand back with Leliana. What build(s) should I use for a Ranged Rogue (or another in case you wanna suggest something else).
Also, in what order should I play through the whole game content in the Ultimate Edition?
And don't get me started on race picking, hehe....I am so indecisive:unsure:.

Wouldn't Shale's AoE hinder a melee rogue?Stahlbart wrote...
I'd go with 2 daggers for your PC, Shale as Tank and Wynne as healer. Leliana obviously as an archer.

I beat the game with me being an arcane warrior, Morrigan Zevran and Leliana the first time. 2nd playthrough was with Sten. Shale as Tank, Morrigan (with open locks spell mod) and me (dualwield warrior). And so on...
So in the end you can hardly go wrong.

For race, pick an origin you haven't played yet. Or if you want the money, go dwarf noble.

As a tank she basically uses the Stoneheart Tree. So no friendly fire aoe.

It kind of gives me interest in being a Mage, afterall, I got the game to make a file/files for DAII, kinda cool to keep it in the family....
What talent specs/builds would be good if I go that route for both the PC and Wynne. Wynne could be a healbot easily, the Warden ranged damage.

So Morrigan is useful? I recall liking the character, way more than preachy Wynne, but the Shapeshifter specialization, while great in concept, I remember it was executed poorly. What 2nd spec do people give her?Stahlbart wrote...
I am recently playing my "DA2-setup game" as a mage. With Morrigan to heal and protect me while I, the mighty blood mage, blow the enemies away. Alistair with 100% spellres and Leliana, mostly to disarm traps/open locks.

What if you are a Blood Mage yourself, like the poster above noted? Spirit Healer might be more attractive, yes?mousestalker wrote...
Blood magic. Some go with spirit healer, but blood magic, even if you do not take any of the spells, gives some nice boosts.

Erm, i forgot to mention that i'm using the respec mod. So she's already a spirit healer at level 7. In addition to that i use the extra dog slot for the first time. Seems to work just fine, although the fights are already quite easy. Even on nightmare.
Hehe.

As said above it does not really matter what party you have. With the right tactics, you could can win every battle.

Well later today I will start with Leliana's Song (as it is the most stand alone story wise being a prequel) and decide if I will go with a Rogue or Mage, hell I might end up going with Alistair as tank due to the great Warrior gear later on like Cailin's gear (I just loved Shale's humor and Mode playstyle back when I played DA:O on PS3).Stahlbart wrote...
But Wynne is kinda cool, too. On my 3rd playthrough i was "the good one" with Alistair and Leliana. And it was more fun than i thought. Usually i play the bad guy (e.g. Kotor 1+2).

I might play Darkspawn Chronicles as it is an alternate ending / what-if scenario (although I went through DA:O about 80% in, someone spoiled me the ending a while ago).

I now think I will go with a DW Warrior, if only because no party member follows that path. Any race/build tips? I'd like a Dwarf or Human Noble, Dwarf prefered, but given how ....

You don't on the PC. Dunno about other platforms.
I'd go with Dwarf Noble. Gorim is awesome. Also, you can really set aside some cash.

This is partly the issue I'm having. I have until mid February to finish DA:O and everything else, because Marvel vs Capcom 3 comes out and me and my bro are playing that until DA II comes. That gives me a little over 3 weeks, so I basically I think can only do a single run and it has to be one I'll be happy with to carry over.HolyAvenger wrote...
I played the entire UE through once with my canon Warden (HMNW) who romanced Leliana and was basically a nice guy. I don't think I have the patience to do that again- might do another Awakenings run with an Orlesian warden, and WH with a warden who romanced Morrigan, but that's it.
Darn it, I still can't pick my class or race. 2x Ranged Rogue looks fun, DW Warrior is unique, and Mage is most flavorful due to RP and the Warden in that case being a relative to Hawke. I played almost all origins way back on my old PS3, missing the Dalish Elf, and did about a third / half of Dwarf Noble's. My 2 highest runs on PS3 was an Arcane Warrior Human and a Ranger/Bard Commoner Dwarf (partly why I want Leliana in this run, was so much fun).
This is why I love/hate Bioware RPGs, the choices make my head spin...

P.S. Does the Ultimate Edition install of Awakening unlock specializations like a regular Awakening install?
