I am nearing the end game and have almost the 45 assignments done for my first 2 squad mates (tali and kaiden) but what I'm worried about is the missions. I've read some places that you need to do 15 missions as well as the 45 assignments, and I can't remember if I did the really early ones with my squad mates.; However, the wiki only specifies an assignment requirement.

Is there a mission # requirement for the achievement? If so, what is it?

I did the Asari ally achievement and the only missions I did with Liara were the ones on feros and noveria which amount to 11. Got the achievement before even going to virmire after doing around 50 assignements.

Okay these figures are from the mass effect wikia. Showing how many assignments (including DLC) you have to complete with each squad member to get their companion achievement:
Ashley/Kaidan/Tali: 45
Wrex: 40
Garrus/Liara: 50

I have no idea why you only need 45 assignments with ashley and kaidan (considering these are your first party member) but 50 with liara (considering you'll pick her up later than anyone else)

Huh? its only 40 assignments for wrex? I got liara's achievements about 2-3 assignments after getting wrex's one. That's weird for me...

Are you sure you didn't do some other assignments with Liara while keeping Wrex out of your party?



Of course I'm not sure those numbers are correct. Like I said I got them from the ME wikia page. Never could be bothered counting the number of assignments I did with a certain squad member in my team

That's probably to make the Asari ally a really hard achivement to get

I got Wrex and Garrus both pretty much as soon as humanly possible and used only them and did every possible sidequest, no achievement.

in my first play through was mainly using liara and wrex, got liara's achivement before the end(think by virmire but didn't get wrex's. did some of the citedal assignments before getting liara, didn't use wrex while doing those but took him when I went to get liara and he didn't leave my team after getting liara apart for garrus's dr saleon(sp?) assignment. did most of the assignments before doing the main mission(tho did the saving liara mission before doing the space assignments). only assignments I didn't complete were the pinnica(sp?)l station and collecting the gasses/metals/elements(missed completing it for the sake of just 1 element/metal).



doing a second play through and using wrex and garrus, this time didn't do any of the citedal assignments till I got both of them. so far done all the citedal assignments you can do until you've done at least one of the main planet missions, and on my way to rescue liara. not sure if I'll do the mission upto virmire first or do the assignments first like the first play through.

Missions definitely count for something because I've personally had the achievement pop upon completion of one and not an assignment.

I got Liara and Kaidan's achievements; However, I just couldn't get the other four.

It helps to decide early on who your 2 main allies will be and plan ahead. Try not to complete (you can start) any assignments until you recruit your chosen allies. The Liara achievement is the most annoying, as you will have to leave the Citadel, recruit her, and then come back and finish up the incomplete assignments. Needless to say, this makes Therum harder, especially the krogan fight, as you'll be lower level and not have access to better gear/abilities.
