Alright, crazy idea here. It involves a vanguard. You ready guys? Okay.

You get a mass relay or giant mass accelerator weapon, right?

Then you place Shepard on said mass relay or mass accelerator, and then aim the device at the Reapers.

BIOTIC CHARGE + MASS RELAY JUMP

Shepard will become the vanguard of the Reaper's destruction.

Lmao, I think itll do more harm then good. It should go something like this.......

That is beautiful! Just replace The Captain with Shepard and Black Shadow with Harbinger and we're set!

Shepard Charge right into Harbinger.

Seriously speaking ( this thread needs some ), if the turian counselor wouldn't "have dismissed this claim", we could've stood a good chance.

There are a lot of info about the reapers, and they are not invincible...

Toss them into a star, they'll still die... Hit them with Thanix Cannons ( the turian replica of the reaper guns ), and they'll probably take damage... Hit them with the massive mass accelerator gun the derelict reaper was killed with...

Use stuff found in the Collector's base...

They use the element of surprise to take over the Citadel, cut off communication and power chains, rendering the whole galaxy in chaos. Then they move like a slow plague from system to system, eradicating everything.

Divide et impera.

Forbid them the access to the Citadel, or move the political powers from the Citadel, keep communications intact, try to make the reaper fleet scatter, engage with their fewer numbers in guerrilla attacks in systems with certain characteristics that you could use to your advantage, use collector-reaper salvaged technology against them, hit them with replicas of the mass accelerator gun, turn every squad/formation into a possible damaging kamikaze ( better blow your ships up then let the people on them get indoctrinated ) and make them do it if it resumes to that.

Undergo big propagandas and show Shepard as the biggest threat to the Reapers ( all the efforts of beating them supposedly being coordinated by him), use him to lure the reapers into favorable fighting odds...

But these require preparations... You can't prepare for something if you have dismissed it...

Seriously, make my day. I have spent ages thinking about this and can find no logical way to beat them without a cliche "virus" or a "superweapon."

** Spoiler alert - spoilers for just about everything ahoy **

We will use the Collector base (for intel and uber tech), Rachni fleet, Geth fleet, Quarian fleet, Council fleets, Heavily armed Krogan and Yahg shock troopers, Alliance fleets, Salarian special tasks group, Asari commandos, Batarian mercs, Raloi, The Leviathan of Dis, the crypts of the beings of light (on Klencory), The Hanar fleets and their Drell soldiers, Elcor with big cannons on their backs, Lord Darius's merc band, Blood Pack + Eclipse + Blue Suns allied to each other, Liara's vast information network, TIM's vast information networks, The Kirik (with their crazy biotics), That guy on the top of Big Ben, Aria and her mercs, and Garrus Vakarian.

We will simply send in waves and waves until the reapers get worn out and decide to leave the galaxy due to fatigue. Who knows, we may even end up killing one or two of them.

Shepard:"I should go."

Harbinger:"STOP SHEPARD! WE ARE THE HARBINGER OF YOUR PERFECTION! YOU CANNOT ESCAPE!"

Shepard:"Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations."

Harbinger:"NO! SUMBIT NOW!"

Shepard:"Heavy risk... But the prize."

Harbinger:"AAAARRRGGGGHHHH!"

*Harbinger and all the other Reapers spontaneously implode*

Yo mamma fight.

Or something like this:

Harbinger: "We have arrived! Prepare to meet your extinction!"
Shepard: "Roll for initiative."

But seriously:

No clean and simple victory, just decades of hard fought war in which billions die. ME3 could see the first victory in a war that is implied to go on for possibly hundreds of years with many sacrifices made in order to buy the rest of the galaxy time to close the technology gap. Like the war against the Berserkers in Saberhagen's series.

Or, to use another one of his ideas, an anti-Reaper Reaper, something that the Reapers designed in case of a Reaper civil war or if someone somehow managed to use a Reaper against the other Reapers. How many times can I put the word Reaper in one sentence?

But I fully expect a deus ex machina. Don't expect something clever or bittersweet from a comic book writer. :?

A virus or a weapon in the class of that which created the Klendagon "great rift" are good guesses.

Of course, it's "how" they do it that matters.

I mean, even the best of movies can sound boring when you sum up the action.

I wouldn't mind a cliche story-wise ( there are only so many possbile combinations ) as long as it's sensibly delivered.

Think about it. The protagonist's family is killed, igniting the events of a given story. Now that simple event can be presented in a crappy way or in a truly emotional way that sucks the audience in.

So don't worry about the cliche. Worry about the execution, thank fully Bioware doesn't disappoint on that department.

A dark energy bomb left inside of the Prime Reaper or in the Anti-Citadel (if exist) to make vulnerable the Reapers Fleet, than the normal Reapers are blasted off by the united forces of Alliance, Quarians, Geths, Krogans and so on. The Normandy will lead the final assault, and critally damaged. The upgrades done or not will determines if the ship will survive, and the mission on Prime Reaper will be something between Virmire and SM, where we'll have necessairly some losses, but our actions during the game and the mission will determines how many will die, and who.

Lure them into an isolated star system and then use some dark matter bomb to blow up a star, vaporizing them all!

Does this result in her death in ME3, if some how she did not die in ME2?

I say Shepard would just hit it like an angry God.

Every time one of these threads pops up its the same sort of ideas that appear (no offence intended to anyone).

It just seems that these ideas are a little too simple or obvious to create a great end to the trilogy.  I mean who wants an end they read a year ago in the Bioware forums?

If one of these ideas is the end the story telling, twists and spins along the way need to be literally mind blowing to avoid  serious disappointment.

Whatever killed that Reaper where you got the IFF. SOmething punched a hole through that thing, killing it in one shot, as the rest of the Reaper didn't look too heavily damaged.

Guaranteed we are going to find some sort of "Ark" in the next game. It's going to be some sort of anti-reaper ship that ignites some huge wave of energy that effects them....OR...

It's going to somehow use indoctrination against the Reapers...or in someway, we have to turn the Reapers against themselves through the use of indoctrination in some form.

Keep throwing bodies at them until the corpses are blocking their heat sinks causing the reapers to overheat and explode.

Wouldn't that just give them bodies for their Husk army though?

The way I see it, we can only win via a war of attrition.

What we do is hide Earth. We'll have to make a lot of invisibility cloaks, or a really big one, but it'll work.

I have a few suggestions....

1) Lend them money at subprime
2) Let Ford redesign their electrical systems
3) Entice them surf eastern Europe torrent sites

Really, there is no believable way for the Alliance to beat the Reapers. They couldn't even really beat Sovereign, only Sheps actions accomplished that and that whole encounter was in the center of Alliance Power. The Reapers in ME3 can choose their battles, and wipe out everyone bit by bit. They really don't have to rush.

Obviously to have any hope, the Alliance would have to reprogram every jump station so they are no longer controlled by the Reapers ........ but from the trailer it is already too late for that.

Like all contacts between forces who are unknown to eachother,  it either won't happen or it will be a slaughter.

The writers are backed into a corner and it will be interesting to see what they do.
