So I just finished reading this and wow, a lot of things to think about. Anyway I thought I might break down a few key points that would open up some discussion and present something myself:

First off, the main draw point here is the Reaper artifact that is being held down by a bunch of Saren wannabes in robes. I am little confused here on why they are in robes. We have seen no indoctrinated subjects become fanatical yet. Usually husks are midnless.

Secondly, the blast that hits TIM (or Jack Harper) seems to instantly transform his eyes.  As seen on page 21 and 22, Bens skin already shows husk transformation before he even hits the ground. So this confirms that TIM's eyes are indeed Reaper technology and not some kind of implant.

Thirdly, although the series is not over yet we have to question how long the Turians have had this kind of technology. If the turians (possibly the Alliance aswell) really been aware for over 2 decades, then there has to be something major they are hiding. I am starting to wonder if the council has any idea of this.

So some things to take out of the comic:

-Reapers got insta-husk tech
-Jack Harper has husk eyes
-Turians are possibly aware of the Reapers
-Female Turians look like Skeletor :P

I cant take that comics seriously...not until they explain how turians and humans understand each other.

I mean really... HOW?

there are tons of comics where aliens talk to each other and NONE of them that i have seen explain that. Suspend disbelief for once.

Saren was fanatical just listen to his virmire talk. In me2 at the reaper relic they made an altar one even says a dead god can dream or something like that that seems very fanatical to me.

Yes but the comic portrays them in a very cliche manner. I am not sure how much oversight BW had on this but I have never seen them use robes. Only time I have heard of that was with grayson

Well i would not be surprised if we see a reaper cult in me3 no matter if it is cliche sadly.

I would argue that we have seen indoctrinated subjects become fanatical.  The stronger the signal, the more forcibly a subject is indoctrinated, the faster they become a husk.  Saren, Benezia, Shiala, and some salarian subjects on Virmire were indoctrinated slowly and subtly.  In the codex, it states that carefully indoctrinated subjects can survive for a few years without becoming mindless husks.  We have no idea how accurate this is, though.

EDIT:  looks like others beat me to it.

You are right, none of the other indoctrinated subjects wore robes... but maybe they were never offered any.  :P

Yeah, and thats the problem. If they want to create something unique, they better do things differently then "tons of comics" before. Especially if they are set in universe where is explained how they should understand each other.
I´ve never liked comics anyway...everything just gone wrong since ME started its story also in comics.:?

Sounds like the "machine cultist" thing alluded to in ME1.

The translator thing has been bugging me too. If this is first contact, how do they all understand each other perfectly? I was hoping they'd be referring to each other more by nicknames ('skull-face' is a good example) based on their appearances rather than the actual name of their species.

Curiously though, they did keep a consistency with the weaponry. The human characters and Turian characters are using different assault rifles.

Nice catch, I didn't think of that.

im not as critical as some. i thought it was a well told story so far i lovedd the art work (being an artist my self) i do think however that bioware will change female turian alittle if one makes an apperance in ME3. but over all i was satisfied with what i got. i think the language "plot hole" as some would call it could possibly be explained by the fact that both groups may have taken prisoner, giving the turians the chance to analyze the human languge and the humans the chance to aquire uni. tranzlator. just my own personal explaination.

People are acting like the comic has introduced this problem.  It's been there all along: how was the Council able to step in and end the First Contact War, then invite humans to sign on to the whole Citadel thing?  How was the turian commander able to demand surrender from Ash's grandfather?  How was he subsequently able to give that surrender?  All of these events happened within a three-month span.

What's bugging me more is why this "artifact" never came up before. If this is canon, this would've been in SOMEONE's report SOMEWHERE. There's no way that artifact just conveniently popped up on Shanxi like that.

...So does that make the First Contact War some kind of conspiracy?

An explanation for the robes could just be that reaper tech disfigured them so they put the robes on to conceal that. Toward the end of retribution Grayson had to do that.

There's nothing necessarily convenient about it.  We've seen multiple examples of people running into these "husk makers", and we have characters from other species in both games saying they've heard stories about this kind of thing happening before.

I think the robes are at least partially a nod to Saren's original character design as well. Before they'd come up with him being more a soldier type and Spectre, he really was going to more like Sovereign's "prophet", and accordingly, wore flowing robes. The black cloth on his head is the remnant of that earlier concept.

So then why didn't it come up with regards to Shanxi? Unless the Alliance/Heirarchy covered it up. In either case, I've got work, but I've got a whopper of a wall of text post with some theories I'd like to postulate.

I seriously think this is why the Humans and turians stopped fighting. Perhaps the council found out about this and told them both to stop so they could study the artifacts.

I don't know. They played charades until they started understanding one another? They studied each other's languages (I say water, you say agua, different words but same meaning)? My point is that it's far too soon for them to have complete understanding of the other's language, that should have come later when they could make proper translators.
