I don't know. They played charades until they started understanding one another? They studied each other's languages (I say water, you say agua, different words but same meaning)? My point is that it's far too soon for them to have complete understanding of the other's language, that should have come later when they could make proper translators.

I'm not saying it couldn't use an explanation.  I'm just saying that it's required one ever since ME1.

I understand. My post was just  my own reasoning as to how they made first meaningful communication prior to this.

Humans decyphered Prothean language. If the other species did the same thing, instant communication in prothean wouldn't be that far fetched.

I'm gonna go with the they stole the translator tech from captured Turians and modified it to be able to communicate. With what we know so far it makes the most sense. Remember this war has been going on for a little while so its easily plausible.

Eh, the comic came off to me as Mac Walters really really wanting to write a comic about how TIM is the awesomest ever. I just hope it doesn't bleed into ME3 as much as it was in ME2.

Where if I may ask? I'm not entirely sure about buying it through the DHC websites, I seem to miss wether it is a digital copy or a printed one.

It will. ME2 was a game that tolerated Shepard as the lead.

Yep got it off the DHC website, worked fine for me.

EDIT: I think Itunes has it too.

Can you post a link as to where on the DHC site?

-Reapers got insta-husk tech

-Jack Harper has husk eyes

Both of those things are stupid and unneeded. It actually makes me angry. Why aren't they just implants? And why bother with Dragon's Teeth if you have a doom ray that transforms people into husks?

Did you got redirected to the "things from another world" website? Thats the only option I can find and that one seems to be printed. iTunes hasn't got them yet, at least not in my country (netherlands). I wanna read it BioWare/DHC :crying:

I've searched iTunes and went to dark horse's website but couldn't find the digital copy. I found all the Redemption comics on Itunes but no evo.

Ended up buying from TFAW so waiting for mail

I got the impression that the comics didn't treat this as first contact.
With things said like "humanity should've asked permission before using the relays" (or something like that) I mean who exactly was humanity supposed to ask?

I don't know if it was a poor choice of words, or dark horse didn't fully understand what was going on.

edit: Also did anyone else notice the TIM/Shepard similarities? or am i just reading too much into things again?

Well turians are just morons for trying to violently enforce laws that a completely alien species is totally oblivious of. Especially concerning technology that's not even their own.

However the big thing here is the implication that the turians, and perhaps the Council know of the Reapers/husks (or are at least familiar with their artifacts (If so, that makes them even more stupid during ME1 and ME2)). And also that the cause of the FCW wasn't that humanity was blindly activating Relays like we were originally told. But that humans colonized Shanxi specifically, which is apparently off-limits to all species of the galaxy. How it took them so long to notice a human colony go up on such an important world is a mystery.

Also the turian husks in the cave were different, so the whole relic vs. dragon teeth redundancy may not be one at all. They wore clothes and could speak, and were also incapable of using (or simply refrained from) the electric discharge thing. They were also huuuuuge.

As for the translator thing. The comic doesn't take place at the start of the war. Evidence suggests it's been going on for quite some time now, and it's not surprising that they could develop/modify the device so quickly.... It's Sci-Fi.

It's also unclear as to whether the relic made TIM's eyes the way they are in ME2. They're not yet cybernetic, just glowing with blue energy. If I had to guess the turians remove TIM's eyes for study, just like they said, and TIM ends up getting implants and perhaps spared from being indoctrinated/huskified. Maybe.

I apologize in advance for being a nitpicky party pooper, but I am hating the ME comics more and more with each installment. FIRSTLY, I hope that female turian baldness is not canon, since 1.) female turians having fringes was mentioned TWICE in ME2, once by Garrus fail-flirting with FemShep and later by the dude at the bachelor party, 2.) she looks like a pingas, and 3.) Palaven's merciless sun demands extreme UV protection in the form of metallic plates in appropriate locations so that one's brains do not fry. Props to DH for not putting boobs on her, though, since she pretty much looks like a human wearing a turian mask already. SECONDLY, I was bugged by the whole "lol we can understand each other perfectly at first contact" thing as well, even though it can be explained to some degree. THIRDLY, TIM has Reaper eyes? Really? From a husk-ifying laser beam? And Shanxi was a Reaper-related conspiracy THE WHOLE TIME? That's it; I'm done. I am creating my own version of the Mass Effect canon in which the comics and books never happened, like I was forced to do with StarCraft.

Okay, done whining. Sorry. I'll try not to do that again. Gonna go hide in a hole until I have access to the interwebz again. Through something other than dial-up.

Yeah that kinda bugs me as well. I don't mind the idea of the First Contact War not being as simple as we're told, but the fact that it has reaper tech (maybe, i guess we don't really know, could be an old prothean attempt at reverse engineering) and is now linked to the main plot of ME is a bit lame.

I mean does everything we've heard/read about in ME have to be connected with the reapers? was the skyllian blitz a batarian an attempt to acquire reaper tech as well, or maybe they were just under the influence of sovereign at the time? can't things just happen independently, without having some meaning to the ME trilogy.

It happened in the star wars prequels, and it sucked there to.

^^ I can understand your point but ME kind of is the story of the Reapers and how Shepard is fighting them.

We'll see how this develops, but this certainly explains why TIM dislikes aliens and was willing to believe in the Reapers. This also makes me curious about the Turian Heirarchy - they may know more about the Reapers than was previously indicated. Between this and Retribution, I'm guessing that Grayson-esque "Avatars" and machine cultists of various species will be our primary antagonists.

He/she is a fairly user-defined character, the idea that you'd push Shep out of the spotlight is silly.
