Hi everyone,

maybe I'm just missing something here, but how are you suppose to use the Level Editor when you can't rotate your view. I'm trying to redesign an existing level  and I can't even see where I'm putting stuff because I can't rotate my view. Try placing a potted plant in an arch when all you can do is approach it from one view and the freaking arch is in the way.

Camera Controls

To rotate, you would have to use Ctrl + Middle Mouse button

I don't have a middle mouse button...:P I have a trackball mouse that only has a left and right button. Sigh.

:) I'm going to buy one, because this is driving me crazy. Who would have thought a trackball mouse would have such a downside.

If you are going to buy one, I suggest buying a configurable one with more buttons. That way, you can map the middle-mouse button to the right-click which, IMO, makes it a lot easier to rotate the view.

O.o, I'll ask the guy at the store tomorrow for one of those. I've made do meanwhile with a mouse from my neighbours ><

Yeah I'm so used to rotating the view with the right button, thanks for the advice. My new section of the Korcari Wilds is progressing nicely. Thanks to semper's advice & links it's turning out to be rather fun, actually ^^

Does anyone knows what kind of mouse/pad use the Bioware's devs to create levels? It's very uncomfortable to use the middle button, you can map it to the right one of course, but what were they thinking in the first place?

It has nothing to do with the type of mouse they used. The toolset takes most of its design cues from 3DS Max, which is why it is so god-awful.

LukaCrosszeria, most half-decent Logitech mice should be programmable. Whatever brand you get, look for one that has at least one thumb button and it will invariably be programmable.

In case someone can't swap buttons with their mouse drivers, there is this freeware program called "X-Mouse Button Control" that allows you to swap middle with right button. It allows to make profiles for applications, so it can be set to affect only the toolset.

I might have to look into that program.  I disagree with the notion that the type of mouse does not matter on this issue.  With my destop computer (which I can't use right now) with a logitech mouse I had no problems with rotation.  With my lap top with a microsoft optical mouse I cannot rotate at all with any of the buttons left, right, wheel or with any of the set ups, and my attempts at reconfig of the mopuse did nothing at all as well.  I can rotate in the cutscene editor and area editior but the level editor not at all.

Buy a Logitech laser mouse. Something like a G500 will last you years and you are unlikely to have issues with it. I use the older version of that mouse (G5) and it's pretty good.
