i'm relatively new to these forums, and i noticed in this female turian thread, people are exclaiming how glad they are that female turians don't seem to have boobs. who gives a crap if the female turians have boobs or not. if people are really concerned about sexiness in a video game, i'd be more concerned with the human women who are, you know, running around in a ****'s uniform with f me boots (miranda) or that bald chick who is pretty much topless for all intents and purposes. tali is a freaking nun compared to those two.

i mean, you don't hear guys ****ing about thane looking startlingly human for a guy with green skin. you don't hear people crying "Oh, why does thane have those big soulful eyes and smashing clothes and a nice trim human male build! Why couldn't they make Thane a squashed-faced frog who wears paisley suspenders and goes ribbit every other sentence!"

You also don't hear guys ****ing about legion, you don't hear "OH MAN, legion looks like a big buff dude, only he's a metal dude instead of a flesh dude, goddamn, I just KNOW he could outbench me in the gym, i feel so trivialized and threatened by that big hunk of man steel. WHY bioware, why couldn't you make Legion a toaster on wheels armed with laser turrets? WHY WHY WHY?"

or garrus, for that matter. you dont hear guys crying, "WHY IS GARRUS FUNNY? i'm not funny, yet he is? freaking bioware, everyone knows that human women love funny guys! i can't believe bioware would stoop so low and pander to the lowest common denominator! and not to mention, why is he so tall? human women love tall guys, really, bioware, how can you be so transparent! and why does he have an ass? asses are too sexy, just cut that crap out. i think garrus should be a bitter angry 5 foot tall penguin with a concave butt and a scouter."

so in conclusion, boobs on aliens are fine, and give me pitne for over thane any day.

I agree that it is unfortunate that "sexiness" is still the hang up that it is. I think it will be for some time yet. People of both sexes are often judged by appearance, and whether this is fair or not, it is a fact. I think the reason it is an especially sensitive topic on the female side is that, for better or worse, many feel that women are judged by their appearance far more often and far more strictly then men. Right, wrong or indifferent, any topic that discusses appearance is going to involve that history. I believe the relief that Turian females have a different body structure is that they will not be to be looked at in the same manner that one would judge the Asari. It will be far easier to look at the character with out pre-judging based on appearance.

See, there are two types of people in this debate: those who just don't understand (or care about) the importance of integrity in art direction, and those who do.



In this case, it would apply to Mass Effect's "science". Turians are considered an avian species; therefore, boobs wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to the people who actually pay attention to the Codex. IF turians did have boobs, you can bet that a lot of fans would shake their heads at Bioware for being so inconsistent with their own IP.

no but seriously, if all those other alien species seem to have follow the same convergent evolution thing (everyone is a bipedal humanoid with opposable digits), then would it be unusual for the other alien females to have mammary glands in similar locations? or would it be better if turian females had nipples on the top of their heads?

if one was arguing in terms of physical functionality, one could possible argue that turians are bird like, and birds don't have the boob thing because they feed regurgitated earthworms to their young instead of milk. which is fine, i could see that happening.

but if one's arguing that female aliens having boobs is making the game too sexy, then, uh..... i also demand that miranda and jacob each gain 70 pounds for ME3 due to too much chocolate.

Because these guys on this forum are so insecure about being called losers because they are attracted to aliens, they feel that all Alien females should be ugly so they can justify being attracted to them for something other than alien boob. Iam not afraid to admit that I think some of the aliens in ME are hot and I would love more alien boob.

Yet there are species such as elcor, hanar , vorcha, volus , yahg and other male aliens that exist that DON'T cater to what human females find attractive, it's not even a consideration in their design because its completely irrelevant. The male aliens we have seen so far at least have some variety, the female aliens we have seen so far don't and that's the big issue here. It would be nice and refreshing to have a female species that didn't have typical feminine traits that we are used to seeing. A lot of people also don't want to see breasts on a turian because it doesn't make sense for them to have them biologically, there are other inventive ways to show distinction between alien genders without resorting to human breasts all the time.

OR it could be because only mammals should have them and it makes no biological sense whatsoever for a lizard to have boobs.

As Godwood stated, I too stabed every Argonian female I came across in Oblivion.

and no, I'm not crazy. At least . . . not yet.
